Ollae Guksu Main Branch: Legendary Pork Noodles

Hey everyone, Hyobi here!

Even the famous Korean celebrity chef Lee Yeon-bok has visited this spot!
This was my very first time trying Ollae Guksu. When my friends and I landed, we debated on what to eat to kick off our trip on a high note.
We initially wanted to go to Woojin Haejangguk, but we knew the wait times there are absolutely brutal.
So, we decided to pivot to Jeju's iconic Gogi Guksu (pork noodles) instead, and I'm so glad we did!

We got incredibly lucky and walked right in without any wait!
Honestly, because it's a noodle spot, the table turnover rate is super fast. People slurp down their bowls quickly, so even if there is a line, you won't have to wait too long. We ordered four bowls of pork noodles and eagerly waited for our food.

The fresh, geotjeori-style kimchi was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with the rich noodles.
To be honest, it's sometimes hard to expect friendly service at ultra-famous tourist restaurants in Jeju, but the staff at Ollae Guksu were incredibly warm and welcoming!

Finally, the main event arrived! (My heart was literally beating fast, hoping it would be as good as the hype!)

What do you try first when a bowl of noodles is placed in front of you? For me, it's always the broth.
The soup here was beautifully clear yet incredibly rich and savory.
Best of all, there was absolutely none of that gamey pork smell that ruins some noodle spots. I've tried pork noodles at many other restaurants, but some can have an overpowering odor. Ollae Guksu, however, was exceptionally clean and light!

The pork slices were melt-in-your-mouth tender,
and the noodles were just the right thickness—not too dense, leaving you feeling perfectly satisfied rather than uncomfortably stuffed.

On a chilly day like today, I would give anything to have another steaming bowl of this Gogi Guksu.
I will 100% be returning to this spot next time I'm in Jeju.
Does anyone know of a truly authentic Jeju-style pork noodle spot in Seoul?
