Starting today,

Oktoberfest kicks off in Seoul too!🍺

One of my bucket list items is

to someday visit the authentic Oktoberfest

in Munich, Germany. So, when I first heard

that such an event was opening in Seoul,

I was instantly curious!

At first, I wondered, "Oktoberfest Seoul...?

Can it really be called a true Oktoberfest?"

I had my doubts. But then I heard that it was the first time in Korea to receive

official approval from the City of Munich to use the 'Oktoberfest' name,

which made me feel a bit more hopeful and excited.

However, even before the event officially began,

I started hearing some chatter and concerns...

What on earth could be going on?🍻

Oktoberfest Seoul 2026 is scheduled to take place

for 10 days, from Saturday, September 12th to Monday, September 21st, 2026,

at the Seoul Culture Tank.

The outdoor Beer Garden offers free admission,

and tickets for the Big Tent, which include German traditional performances and a 500ml beer,

When I traveled to Munich, Germany, a while back,

I had the experience of drinking a 1L beer

at Hofbräuhaus!🍻

The atmosphere back then was absolutely fantastic,

so I'm super excited for

Oktoberfest Seoul too!🤩

10 iconic German beer brands are participating,

and notably, the only Korean craft beer brand,

OBC, is also joining in!

Paulaner has always been my absolute favorite ♥,

so I definitely plan to go and enjoy it!

02 Oktoberfest, But Bottled Beer? Seriously?

However, the beer price list unveiled

just a few days before the event

caused quite a stir.

I mean, even setting aside the prices,

the **list of beers for sale**

**included images of bottles**!

What?

When you think of Oktoberfest,

don't you automatically picture draft beer in huge steins..?

Even if they were trying to make it easy to understand

with images, surely each beer would have its own specific glass, right?

It just didn't make sense to me.

While they quickly corrected the mistaken event location,

there was no clear explanation regarding what people were really curious about:

**whether the beer would be bottled, canned, or draft**.

This only fueled more backlash.

Even with "festival pricing,"

**~$7 to ~$7 for bottled beer**...?

That's just not right, is it? 🤷‍♀️

People were saying they'd rather go to their local import beer shop!

03 What's the Oktoberfest Experience Really Like?

But then, @young___kim, an Instagrammer

who creates beer-related content,

visited the venue as a staff member beforehand

and posted some on-site information.

Thankfully, it seems **most of the beer**

**will be draft**! Phew.......

Seriously, why were they so quiet about this the whole time? 😤

Of course, I wasn't expecting professional staff

carrying ten steins in one hand, just like at the Oktoberfest in Germany...

But if an event is going to call itself 'Oktoberfest,'

it's only natural to expect a slightly different vibe

from other beer festivals, right? 🥲

So, I'm planning to go myself sometime next week

to see how the beer is actually served,

what the atmosphere is like for the price,

and if it truly has that Oktoberfest fun factor.

Right now, it's a mix of excitement and concern,

but since the event has just begun,

I'll be keeping an eye on the reactions from actual visitors! 🍺
