If you're looking for something out of the ordinary
to do in Noryangjin, Seoul,
why not check out the newly opened Willow House?
During my recent trip to Seoul, after spending some time at The Hyundai Seoul and IFC Mall,
I heard about the Yuhan Corporation's 100th-anniversary
experience exhibition and decided to visit.

I initially thought it would be a simple exhibition showcasing the company's history,
but I was surprised by how memorable it was!
You can even participate in a 'mind diagnosis' and enjoy a cup of tea tailored to your personality type at the end,
which made it stay with me for a long time.
Especially if you've been feeling a bit drained lately,
you might find yourself unexpectedly moved,
just like I was. ㅠㅠ

1. Things to Do in Noryangjin

Willow House is a multi-cultural complex
created to commemorate Yuhan Corporation's 100th anniversary.
Its name is even inspired by Yuhan Corporation's symbol, the willow tree.
With its red brick exterior and chimney still intact,
the building itself boasts a truly beautiful and atmospheric vibe.

A quick 5-minute walk from Daebang Station (Line 1, Exit 2),
or 8 minutes from Noryangjin Station (Line 9, Exit 6).
I came over from Yeouido, and taking bus 360 from the Yeouido Park Entrance 1 bus stop
took about 10 minutes.
It's also a great addition to a Seoul date itinerary, especially when combined with
The Hyundai Seoul and IFC Mall, as the travel route is quite convenient.

I was a bit worried since I had my luggage with me that day,
but the information desk on the 1st floor of Yuhan Archive kindly helped me store it,
allowing me to explore comfortably.
There's an elevator, so moving with a stroller isn't difficult,
but please note that the 'Mind Healing Journey' experience is only available for those aged 14 and above
if you're visiting with children.

If you're coming by car, you can use the Yuhan Archive parking lot on B1.
The first 60 minutes are free, and then it's ~`$1` per 10 minutes.
2. Willow House

The very first thing that caught my eye upon entering was
the massive willow tree media wall.
It's a space where a willow tree is depicted through digital art,
and with a huge tree unfolding in the middle of a bright, sunlit area,
it felt subtly like stepping into a different reality.
I found myself standing there, mesmerized, for quite some time.

I highly recommend taking your time to explore not just the experience exhibition on the first floor of Willow House,
but also the upper floors.

The **2nd Floor Memorial Hall** showcases Dr. Yu Il-han's life and
Yuhan Corporation's 100-year history.
Among the exhibits, I was particularly moved by his handwritten will to donate
his entire fortune back to society, and
his personal belongings that he actually used.

Looking at his simple possessions,
like his shoes, bag, and everyday items,
it became clearer to me what values he lived by,
more so than any grand explanation could convey.
It wasn't just a belief he preached;
he truly lived by it. It left me feeling profoundly humble.

In the **3rd Floor Vision Hall**, you can explore Yuhan Corporation's product history,
from Antiphlamine in 1933 to recent new drugs, and their R&D achievements.
It was quite nostalgic to see products I'd been familiar with since childhood,
and I'm excited to see what Yuhan Corporation does next!
And above all, the beautiful willow tree sculpture extending down from the ceiling
was truly stunning.

In Willow Ground, the building right next door,
you'll find Café Gabedo and
Restaurant Terratoria Polveri,
making it super convenient to transition from the exhibition
to a cafe or restaurant right after! :)

3. Interactive Exhibition & Docent Tour

What I loved most about Willow House was definitely
the **Journey to Mindful Recovery interactive exhibition**.
It unfolds in 5 stages: **Opening the Mind → Mindscape →**
**Mind Walk → Mind Diagnosis → Mindful Recovery.**
Some sections in the middle don't allow photography,
which actually encouraged me to put my phone down
and fully immerse myself in the experience.

First, at the Welcome Station,
you enter your information and take a preliminary personality diagnostic test.
You wear a green wristband that you tag at each station, which connects the experiences
and makes it incredibly immersive.

In **Mindscape**, you spend about 5 minutes
admiring media art and reflecting on your emotions.
Watching from the very center,
it felt like I had stepped right into a movie..!

In **Mind Walk**, you take time to reflect on yourself by answering questions.
At the **Stump of the Mind**, you'll discover the roots of your personality
that you might not have been able to articulate before.
At the **Pond of the Mind**, you honestly confront the hurts you've experienced
or emotions you've felt ashamed of.
And in the **Thicket of the Mind**, you examine your role in relationships
from a third-person perspective.

At first, I thought it was some kind of personality test? But as I went through each one, I found myself answering the questions more seriously than I expected.. haha
As the lighting dimmed and sounds were added, I naturally found myself letting go of thoughts about the outside world for a while.

And finally, I received my heart diagnostic results printed on paper!
My result was the Sunbeam and Tree Shade Type. It said I'm like a sunbeam that warmly illuminates the world, and like the shade of a tree that brings comfort to others. But to avoid constantly being in a supporting role for others, I also need enough shade for myself.

As a true F (Feeling type), I was deeply moved... I'd always just done things naturally, taking them for granted, and I honestly thought I was fine. But as I read the results, it suddenly hit me that I really did need a moment of rest, a bit of shade, for myself. I was surprised and choked up.
I never expected an experience I started without much thought to touch such a deep corner of my heart...

In the final Heart Healing stage, they even recommend a blended tea that suits you, based on your results.
I was given a tea called Melody of Light, which was slightly tart like hibiscus, yet also had a subtle minty aroma. It was truly fragrant and delicious.

Most of all, after reading the diagnostic results, quietly sitting down, brewing the tea myself, and slowly savoring it – that time was truly wonderful.
Looking back, this exhibition wasn't so much a place to give you grand answers, but rather a space that made you pause and reflect on that question you've pushed aside while living a hectic life: 'Am I truly okay these days?'

At Teahouse Jeolgi, you can enjoy original matcha, milk tea, and other tea menu items with a 10% discount on all items :) If you use the exhibition experience + additional services at Jeolgi, you also get 4 hours of complimentary parking!

The Heart Healing Journey experiential exhibition starts precisely on the hour, every hour. If you make an early bird reservation through Naver, you can experience it for a 33% discounted price of ~$7. Free docent tours can also be booked via Naver for 10 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, or 5 PM :)

If you're feeling a bit drained these days, if you prefer immersive experiences over exhibitions where you just take photos and leave, or if you're looking for a special time with your loved one, then you should definitely visit Willow House for a unique experience in Noryangjin.

Like me, you might just wander in without a specific plan,
and find yourself leaving with a wonderfully comforted heart.
If you've already picked out your visiting date,
remember that both the immersive exhibition and the docent tours require advance booking,
so be sure to confirm that your preferred time slot is still available :)
