Nohyeong Supermarket Jeju: Indoor Fun for Rainy Days 2026
Unexpected rain on your Jeju vacation? Nohyeong Supermarket offers an immersive indoor adventure. More than just media art, explore unique zones and stunning visuals.

Jeju Indoor Travel Destination
Nohyeong Supermarket
You've got your Jeju Island travel itinerary all planned out,
and then suddenly, there's a rain forecast – it's such a bummer, right? 😥
When you wanted to see the ocean and visit an 'oreum' (volcanic cone), but the weather isn't cooperating,
I've added a place where you can truly enjoy yourself indoors!
That place is Nohyeong Supermarket!
I thought it was just a media art exhibition
where you watch a few videos and leave,
but when I actually went, it was much bigger than I expected,
and each space had a completely different vibe,
so it was quite fun! :)

Nohyeong Supermarket

The first place you encounter after entering
is, as the name suggests, the 'Supermarket' area.
But this isn't the usual colorful supermarket we imagine;
the entire space is in black and white,
so the atmosphere completely changes as soon as you step in.

It has a retro feel, like stepping into an old supermarket,
and it's fun to browse the displays and signs,
making it great for taking photos.

Especially if you wear colorful clothes here,
they'll contrast beautifully with the black and white space,
and your photos will turn out even prettier! 📸
Rather than feeling like you're just passing through one photo zone,
you'll find it fun to follow the narrative and wonder, 'Why is everything black and white here?'
Forgotten Door

After passing through the black and white supermarket, you'll find the Forgotten Door.
This is an important space that connects the story of Nohyeong Supermarket,
and as you pass through the door, the lighting and colors
begin to subtly change.

If the previous section was all black and white,
now it feels like light and video are truly making their grand appearance!
Personally, from this point onwards, rather than just snapping photos,
I'd recommend putting your phone down for a moment
and truly taking in the space itself.
The atmosphere between the previous and current spaces is distinctly different,
and it's much more enjoyable to experience it as you walk through.
Entering the Main Space

And as you move a little further,
you'll discover the main area I was most excited about at Nohyeong Supermarket.
It's none other than the Nohyeong Multiverse!
Currently, Nohyeong Supermarket is operating Season 3,
featuring the ‘Nohyeong Multiverse’.
According to the official guide, media art unfolds in a 360-degree spectacle within a space of approximately 1,200 pyeong,
reaching up to 20m (about 65ft) high.

Once you actually step inside, it's not just the walls that are screens;
the video and light extend all the way to the floor,
making the entire space feel like it's moving.

From Jeju's four seasons to dimensions of famous paintings,
glowing swamps, the gap between sea and time, and distorted cities –
the scenes constantly change, so even if you stay in one spot,
the atmosphere continuously transforms.
Why I stayed longer than expected

To be honest, when traveling in Jeju, some media art exhibitions are places where
you snap a few photos and leave quickly, right?
But at Nohyeong Supermarket, the videos are constantly changing,
making it a shame to just see it once and move on.
Even in the same spot, when the scene shifts,
the atmosphere changes completely,
so I found myself sitting for a bit to watch,
then grabbing my camera again when a beautiful scene appeared...
Before I knew it, time just flew by faster than I expected.
So, if you're including this in your Jeju travel itinerary,
rather than just quickly taking photos and leaving,
I'd recommend allocating about an hour to fully immerse yourself :)
After the Exhibit: Nohyeong Dabang and More

After you've seen the entire exhibition, you can also explore Nohyeong Dabang (Cafe)
and Nohyeong Japwhajeom (General Store).

It's not like the exhibition suddenly ends and you're in
a regular café;
the black and white concept of Nohyeong Supermarket continues even here,
which I found quite interesting! 😀

Even on the official website, Nohyeong Dabang and
Nohyeong Japwhajeom are introduced with the concept of having lost their color.
If you feel it's a shame to leave right after the exhibition and head to your next destination,
it might be a great idea to take a short break here.
