Last November, my kids and I,
wanting to truly soak in the autumn leaves,
visited Nami Island.
When planning an autumn leaf viewing trip with children, mountain trails can feel a bit much,
but a place where you just snap a few photos and leave
felt a little disappointing.
Nami Island was perfect, as it addressed all those concerns.
From the ferry ride itself, it was an adventure,
and once inside, we could meet animals, find playgrounds,
and as adults, we got to fully enjoy the vibrant autumn foliage.
The maple leaves were absolutely stunning when we visited in November,
making it feel like we'd picked the perfect autumn getaway.
📍 Nami Island

The journey to Nami Island is an experience in itself, right from the start.
You take a ferry to Nami Island, right?
While the ride itself isn't long,
it turned out to be a surprisingly big event for the kids!

They were excited from the moment I said we were going on a boat,
and once we set off, they were busy gazing at the scenery outside.

It wasn't just a trip where you arrive by car;
the whole process of taking a ferry to the island
created a travel atmosphere even before we reached Nami Island itself.

If you're going with kids, think of this ferry ride as part of the entire adventure!
We had our tickets ready
and boarded the ferry right away.
If you purchase tickets in advance, they can be scanned via QR code,
allowing you to enter without waiting in line to buy tickets on site!
Stepping off the ferry felt like the season had completely changed.
The moment we stepped onto Nami Island,
my first thought was, "This is truly autumn!"
From the entrance, the trees had transformed with vibrant colors,
and fallen leaves carpeted the ground,
giving every view that perfect November feel.

The day we visited,
the autumn foliage was at its peak beauty,
so we kept stopping to take photos as we walked.

Often when people talk about autumn foliage spots,
they mean seeking out one specific location,
but Nami Island was beautiful from start to finish;
simply walking the paths was a delight.
The kids were more genuinely thrilled by things that moved than by the autumn leaves.
And, as expected, what the kids wanted to see
was quite different from what I, as a parent, wanted to focus on.

While I was admiring the maple trees,
the kids suddenly spotted a peacock and ran off to see it,
and a little further on, there were ostriches, so they ran off again, haha!

There were also ducks wandering around,
and with animals visible everywhere,
it seemed like that was what the kids enjoyed the most.

There was even a playground in the middle,
so we stopped for a fun play session before continuing our walk.

The reason you might feel a little worried about enjoying autumn leaves with kids is
that they might get bored quickly, right?!
Nami Island, however, has different fun activities sprinkled throughout,
so you don't have to worry about that!
A place where you'll keep stopping to wonder, 'Should I take a picture here?'
What I loved most about Nami Island was that
you didn't have to specifically search for places
to take photos.

Walk a bit, if it's pretty, snap a photo.
Walk some more, and if a path you like even more appears, take another!
The kids walking on fallen leaves looked beautiful,
and their backs as they ran between the trees were lovely too,
so it was truly hard to pick just one perfect autumn foliage spot.

It's absolutely true that the entire island is a photo zone,
and Nami Island fits that description perfectly!
The Metasequoia Path
is something you must walk yourself, more than just seeing photos.
When you think of Nami Island, you can't leave out the Metasequoia Path, can you?!

It's a place I'd seen so many pictures of,
so I actually thought it wouldn't feel incredibly new,
but walking it myself in autumn, the feeling was completely different.

The path stretches between tall, straight trees,
and with the surrounding area ablaze with autumn colors,
just walking with the kids felt wonderfully atmospheric.

Next time, I'm planning to stay overnight instead of just a day trip!
After circling Nami Island and exploring it all,
I found myself thinking that next time,
I'd like to experience it a bit differently.

That would be staying at
Jeonggwanru, right on Nami Island!
While my last visit was a day trip,
I'm curious about Nami Island in the evening when the crowds have left,
and I think it would be lovely to take a peaceful stroll
early in the morning.

If you come with kids,
you wouldn't have to worry about catching the ferry on time to leave,
and you could explore at a more relaxed pace.
So, for my next Nami Island trip,
I'm planning to stay a night at Jeonggwanru!
If you're looking into Nami Island admission tickets,
it might be worth comparing them with a Jeonggwanru stay as well.
Already wondering where to go for autumn leaves this year!
Last November, Nami Island offered
plenty of the autumn colors I longed to see.
The kids, meanwhile, had a blast riding the ferry, seeing animals,
and playing at the playground,
so everyone genuinely enjoyed their day.
If you want to enjoy autumn leaves with your kids,
but hiking feels like too much,
then a place like Nami Island, which is easy to walk around
and has plenty to see, is definitely a fantastic choice.

Looking at the pictures again,
I'm already starting to think about autumn outings this year!
Where should we go this year?!
