Still catching up on blog posts!
Since I had the little ones with me,
after seeing the media facade,
we thought, 'Let's go explore here!' and so we did!
Since it's a place with free admission,
it's perfect for bringing the kids!
Children's Museum

I actually came to see the media facade, but then......
I discovered they had a Children's Museum!
It turned out to be an absolutely fantastic spot for the kids!!

Kids can even create ceramic bowls using interactive media,
and make up names too!

There's also a place where you can play by throwing things!

There was a place with bell sounds, so I went to check it out.
There was a bell in the center, marked as a spot to 'ring the bell,' so
I was tempted to try,
but it turned out to be a place where you simply touch it, not actually ring it.
The actual bell sounds
come from interactive media spots on the right & left where you can 'ring' virtual bells.

There's so much to see and explore as you wander around, and

there's also a spot where you can color drawings and project them onto a huge screen!

Chuncheon National Museum
To reach the media facade, we headed outside
and took the elevator up.

If you go straight past the large garden, you'll reach the Chuncheon National Museum.

The exhibition halls are divided around the central staircase.
Upon entering, the central staircase and the 3rd floor are adorned with incredible media art,
which the kids found absolutely fascinating and loved!

The kids were so amazed they kept running around!
With this staircase at the center, there are exhibition halls on both sides and

On the 1.5th floor, there's a museum cafe!
The prices were reasonable, so we each grabbed a drink to refuel our energy.

There were also many folk art products featuring Shin Saimdang's Chochungdo (grass and insect paintings) available as souvenirs.
Although Shin Saimdang was from Gangneung, I heard that the Chuncheon National Museum, a representative museum of Gangwon-do,
has exhibited her Chochungdo paintings.
No wonder there were so many of Shin Saimdang's paintings! (There were even banknote designs!)
Let's head up to the second floor!

On the second floor, a large LED screen surrounds a circular space,
creating an incredible media art experience.

At specific times, they present a video with a captivating story.
It seems to showcase the four seasons and history of Gangwon-do.
The music and media play for over three minutes!

There were many fantastical elements too,
which made it really fun to watch!
(I was even thinking, "Look, a dragon!" haha!)

1st Floor Exhibition Hall - Prehistoric & Ancient Room, Cultural Playground

2nd Floor Exhibition Hall - Medieval & Early Modern Room, Changnyeongsa Temple Site Five Hundred Arhats Room
Royal Buddhism and the Literati's Ideal Land, Gangwon
The Medieval & Early Modern Room was particularly interesting!
"Light, come forth~~"
(That's what I was thinking/saying at the moment!)

The waterfall cascaded down the branches and spread out,
it was incredibly realistically portrayed!

I really enjoyed
the pouring waterfall!

At the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats, you'll discover Arhat statues with an incredible range of expressions!
They've skillfully illuminated the Arhats in the dimly lit space, making it easy to appreciate each unique face and expression.
Though, fair warning, some younger visitors found it a bit spooky and quickly moved on! 😉
It certainly holds a profound and solemn atmosphere.
