Guess what? I won a spot to a party hosted by the

California Wine Institute through Instagram, and I got to go!☘

The California Wine Night took place on

Wednesday, September 9th, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, right at

Mood Seoul in Banpo Hangang Park!

We even got to enjoy the Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain,

making it a truly romantic day!🌈

01 California Wine Night

When we talk about California wine, we absolutely cannot leave out

the iconic 'Judgment of Paris'!

Fifty years ago, an impromptu blind wine tasting was held in Paris, France.

Can you believe it? **California wine snatched first place**, triumphing over

the incredibly proud French wines! Talk about a shocker!

I'd actually watched a YouTube episode recently that covered this very event,

so meeting California wines in person made me even more excited!🍷

At the California Wine Night,

we had the incredible opportunity to sample a staggering

180+ varieties of California wines,

presented by 17 different importers from Korea!

They had perfectly paired dishes like cheese, ham, pasta, ceviche, and more,

along with a DJ booth pumping out tunes!

We truly got to soak in the ultimate party vibe right by the Han River.🎆

Sipping on such a fantastic variety of California wines all in one place

made me wonder just how incredible the wine tastes directly at a

local winery!🥹

Next time I visit California, I absolutely have to do a

Napa Valley winery tour – especially since a Napa Valley wine won the Judgment of Paris!

02 Stamp Passport Event

After getting our names checked at the Mood Seoul entrance,

we grabbed our wine glasses and stepped inside.

We could visit every booth and

freely sample the wines.

The California Wine Night spanned

both the first and second floors of Mood Seoul.

There was also a special event happening concurrently,

which I eagerly participated in!

At each booth, I received a

wine passport for collecting stamps!✈

By collecting stamps from a total of 6 wine regions

and submitting the passport at the event booth,

I could receive a gift haha!

The gift will be revealed at the end!

03 Mood Seoul, 1st Floor

First, I explored Mood Seoul's 1st floor.

I arrived just past 7 PM,

and the sunset was almost over,

but even that was so beautiful.

On the main stage, the DJ was working hard,

making it feel like a party all day long.

It's been a while since I've enjoyed an atmosphere like this! ❤ So good!

There were also freely available

cheese, ham, finger foods, and fruits

set up on one side.

There were also standing tables placed around,

but they were a bit scarce for the number of people.

However, we managed to find a spot somehow

and enjoyed all the food! haha.

And now, the most important part: the wine!

There were an incredible 16 wine booths! Wow!

You could ask for a specific wine to taste,

or simply ask for a recommendation,

and they would just keep pouring the wine!

Everyone was so incredibly friendly! 💞

My boyfriend is a total Pinot (Pinot Noir) fanatic,

so he was determined to try every single Pinot out there!

hahahaha!

Some people even carried water with them to rinse their glasses,

to prevent the wines from mixing.

But that seemed like too much effort for me ㅠ.ㅠ..

Since there were so many types of wine,

it was fun trying to find my favorite wine!

I wanted to try them all, if only I could,

but honestly, I wouldn't even know the difference after a while, hahahaha! 😭

04 Mood Seoul, 2nd Floor

You could collect your passport stamps on the 2nd floor.

The 2nd floor featured 6 booths representing California's major wine regions.

There were lots of photo zones along the way,

and everything was decorated so stylishly!

As expected, Napa was the most popular!

Both its red and white wines

had surpassed French wines to claim the top spot,

so I was incredibly curious to taste them.

My French boyfriend,

however, kept insisting that French wines tasted better,

in total denial, hahahaha!

Besides Napa, we also visited booths for Sonoma, Monterey, Lodi,

Santa Barbara, and Paso Robles, trying our favorite wines

and collecting our stamps! 😆

On the 2nd floor, the sommeliers themselves

offered their recommendations,

which definitely made the wines taste even better (or so it felt!)!

And of course, we got our stamps! hehe.

The 2nd floor also had an even more generous (?)

buffet prepared!

Spaghetti and conchiglie

Seriously, why were they so good...................🤤

I'm not sure if it was Mood Seoul's food

or catering prepared by the host,

but this place is definitely a pasta paradise..🤤

Although I didn't pair it with white wine separately,

the ceviche alone was absolutely deliciousㅠㅠㅠ

The finger foods on the second floor were also

more diverse and equally tasty😋

After enjoying all the California wines,

I really wanted to visit Napa Valley.

05 What Was My Favorite California Wine?

It had been a while since I'd been to a party,

so it was really fun and I felt great!😍

I went up to the third floor, since it was accessible, and thought, "Wait, is it raining?"

but right in front, I could see the Rainbow Fountain at Banpo Bridge!🤩

As evening fell, the weather was just perfect,

so it would have been lovely to enjoy a glass of wine outside.

I collected stamps on my passport at the wine booths on the second floor,

then went back down and received California almonds and dried plums as a gift💜

I snacked on them today, and the almonds weren't just any almonds —

they were truly delicious!👍

To finish off on a refreshing note,

I went back to the Napa Valley booth on the first floor

and ended with a sweet white wine🤍 that the staff recommended.

So, which California wine did my French boyfriend

choose as his absolute favorite?

Drumroll, please!🥁

It was the Pinot Noir recommended by the vin csr/!

He went back for it three times!

Hahaha!

Lately, I'd been feeling a bit bored resting at home,

but it was an exciting night out after a long time,

so it definitely felt like a refreshing change!

Next time I go to a wine shop,

I'll have to keep an eye out to see if they have the California wines we tasted:)
