📞 Pro Tip: Book in advance if you want to secure a semi-private room!
On a rainy day in Seoul, there is one ultimate comfort food that everyone craves: sizzling Korean pork belly (samgyeopsal) paired with a cold glass of soju.
If you are looking for an authentic spot that does this combination flawlessly, look no further than Minari Doyaji in the vibrant Wangsimni neighborhood.
We arrived just before 6:00 PM, which turned out to be the perfect move. We got seated immediately, but by 7:00 PM, the place was packed with locals. Timing is everything when it comes to popular Seoul eateries!

The Vibe & Atmosphere
Minari Doyaji offers a mix of open-hall seating and semi-private rooms. While the rooms aren't fully closed off with solid doors, they provide a cozy, partitioned space that's ideal for families or group gatherings. If you're planning a group dinner, definitely call ahead to reserve one.
But the absolute highlight of the space? The massive floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor.
Watching the rain fall over the streets of Seoul while listening to the rhythmic sizzle of pork belly on the grill is an unmatched sensory experience. The cozy, atmospheric aesthetic makes the food taste even better!

Our Order
We went all out with our order:
- 2 Servings of Minari Pork Belly
- 2 Servings of Premium Korean Pork Belly (Handon)
- 1 Spicy Cold Noodles (Bibim Naengmyeon)
- 1 Cheesy Fried Rice (Cheese Bokkeumbap)
- 2 Bowls of Steamed Rice
- 2 Bottles of Soju
This was the perfect feast for two adults and two kids. If your group loves meat, this lineup will not disappoint!

Why Minari & Pork Belly are a Match Made in Heaven
If you haven't tried pork belly with minari (water dropwort) yet, you are missing out on one of Korea's best culinary combinations. The fresh, herbaceous, and slightly peppery aroma of the minari cuts through the rich, fatty flavor of the pork belly perfectly.
Grilled alongside fresh mushrooms, the flavor profile is absolutely incredible. The meat itself is premium Handon (Korean pork), meaning it's incredibly tender and juicy.
Pairing it with the spicy, refreshing bite of Bibim Naengmyeon (cold noodles) creates the ultimate flavor balance.
And whatever you do, do not skip the Cheesy Fried Rice at the end. Even if you think you're completely full, the savory, mild cheese fried rice on the hot grill is a must-try. It's the ultimate comforting finale to a K-BBQ meal!

Kid-Friendly & Great Amenities
While they don't have specialized kids' utensils or high chairs, we brought our own, and the kids absolutely loved the tender pork. It's a very welcoming space for families.
Another major plus for travelers: the restrooms are exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and separated by gender. Anyone who has traveled around older neighborhoods in Seoul knows how rare and appreciated this is!
The entire restaurant has a clean, organized, and modern feel, making for a highly comfortable dining experience.
Final Verdict
Minari Doyaji is a fantastic spot in Wangsimni to experience high-quality K-BBQ with a unique, healthy twist. Between the cozy rainy-day views, the fresh herb pairings, and the delicious cheesy fried rice, it’s a meal you won't forget.
To avoid the crowds, plan to arrive a bit early (before 6:30 PM) or reserve a room ahead of time!
