Traveling Rotorua, New Zealand
Hi everyone, I'm travel blogger Lisa!
Today, I'm excited to share my experience
staying at the Millennium Hotel Rotorua,
my home away from home in New Zealand.
Located right next to the famous
Polynesian Spa, the location is unbeatable.
Plus, the near 5-star lobby atmosphere,
spacious and cozy beds,
quiet swimming pool, and hot springs
made me absolutely fall in love with this place.

Out of all the places I stayed in New Zealand,
this one was by far my absolute favorite.
Along with my review of the Millennium Hotel Rotorua,
I’ll also share some discount links
so you can book it for less! :)
1. Booking New Zealand Hotels at a Discount

I did a lot of agonizing before booking
my accommodation in Rotorua, New Zealand.
Because of the local geothermal activity,
a lot of reviews mentioned hotels smelling strongly of sulfur
or lacking in cleanliness.

So, I decided to avoid super cheap motel-style lodgings
and chose to spend a little more to book a room
in the mid-$90s per night.
(Especially since I was traveling with my parents!)
In the end,
it turned out to be the most satisfying stay
of my entire New Zealand trip.
I'll go into detail about the room condition and hotel facilities below,
but first, let's compare hotel prices
so you can get the best deal possible.

2. Rotorua Hotel Recommendation: Millennium Hotel

The Millennium Hotel Rotorua is located right
in the heart of Rotorua, one of the top destination cities
on New Zealand's North Island.

There's a dedicated parking lot right in front of the hotel,
Since they offer free parking,
it's a perfect choice
for those traveling with a rental car!

Even though it's technically a 4.5-star hotel,
the grand lobby feels every bit like a 5-star property.
It made an amazing first impression the moment we walked in!
During our family's 10-day trip across New Zealand,
we stayed in quite a few different places,
but this was hands down our most memorable stay.

Bar
Right next to the lobby,
you'll find the breakfast restaurant and a stunning bar.
They offer a 50% discount on wine until 5:00 PM,
so we just had to treat ourselves to a glass!
3. Millennium Hotel Rotorua Room Review
Superior Queen Room (Two Queens)
⏰ Check-in: 2:00 PM
⏰ Check-out: 10:00 AM
🍳 Breakfast: 40 NZD (~$20)
🛜 Free Wi-Fi available

We booked the Superior Queen Room,
which comes with two comfortable queen beds.
(Double occupancy)

For some reason,
the price was exactly the same as the Superior King Room.
So we opted for the two-bed setup
to ensure a super comfortable night's sleep!
(Probably because the room size is identical.)

The View
The room was absolutely spotless.
Even with the carpeted floors, it felt fresh and clean
with zero mustiness.
Plus, we could see Lake Rotorua and
the Polynesian Spa right out front,
which made the view quite lovely.

Bathroom
The bathroom was also squeaky clean!
Plenty of fresh towels, too!
Thanks to the individual climate control,
we stayed perfectly cozy,
and having a small sofa and table
was super convenient for organizing our things.

Complimentary Milk
And here’s a classic New Zealand hotel touch—
there was milk in the mini-fridge instead of bottled water.
It was perfect for a quick morning splash or coffee!
4. Rotorua Hotel with Hot Springs and a Pool

The ultimate deal-breaker for choosing this hotel
was definitely the on-site hot springs
and the swimming pool.

Rotorua is world-famous for its geothermal activity,
and having a cozy mineral pool right inside the hotel
meant we could soak and unwind without even stepping outside.

While it wasn't as massive as the Polynesian Spa,
it offered the exact same soothing, warm sulfur spring water,
so we absolutely loved relaxing here!
🌟It is completely free for all
hotel guests to use!

Polynesian Spa, check out the link below!
