MH Hotel Jeonju Gaekridangil Review 2026: Annex vs. New Wing

Bamkki, who journeyed to Jeonju in August!

I'm here to share my review of MH Hotel Branch 1, where I happily stayed for 3 out of my 4 nights.

The location was fantastic and it offered great value for money, but

there's one crucial thing! Before you hit that 'book' button, you absolutely need to know about

the difference in condition between the Annex and New Annex buildings ⭐

If you're not aware of this beforehand, you might end up feeling a little disappointed, so

make sure to read this review to the very end before booking! 👇👇

💰 Booked 3 nights (Thursday-Saturday) for ~$175 during the August Liberation Day holiday weekend.

✅️ Significant difference in condition between New Annex and Annex

1. Location & Accessibility of Jeonju MH Hotel Gaekridangil Branch

First and foremost, the biggest selling point of Jeonju MH Hotel is its unbeatable location.

It's nestled right beside the hottest spots in Gaekridangil.

Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeondong Cathedral, and Gyeonggijeon are all within comfortable walking distance,

making it absolutely perfect for travelers exploring on foot.

It's also about an 8-minute drive from Jeonju Express Bus Terminal,

and roughly 15 minutes from Jeonju Station, so accessibility is smooth.

Plus, with a dedicated parking lot, it's a great choice if you're driving too!

Since Gaekridangil is such a vibrant area, you won't

have to worry about finding amazing restaurants, cafes, or bars 😆

A particular highlight is its close proximity to Daga Brewery, a highly popular restaurant often with a waiting line!

Parking is, of course, free,

but do keep in mind that spaces can get quite tight on weekends or late at night.

⚠️And here's something important to double-check!

All rooms are non-smoking, and it operates as a no-kids, no-pets zone.

If you're planning a trip with children or furry friends,

you won't be able to stay here, so please confirm this in advance.

2. Annex vs. New Annex at MH Hotel: What's the Difference?

When you're booking Jeonju MH Hotel Gaekridangil,

you'll notice room types are categorized as "Annex" and "New Annex,"

and this is something you absolutely must pay attention to!

Because you just have to see the comparison photos below!

Of course, a promotional image versus a real-life photo will always have differences...!!!!

However, the Annex and New Annex are actually entirely different buildings,

so the room condition difference seemed quite significant ㅠ

It's definitely not that it was dirty or anything like that,

but the building is a bit older, so it didn't feel super fresh and modern, if you know what I mean.

So, the conclusion is: if cleanliness and a modern feel are important to you,

definitely go for the New Annex!!!

As shown in the picture above, make sure to look for "New Annex"

in the room type when you're making your reservation.

Of course, it tends to be a bit more expensive than the Annex rooms.

*During the Liberation Day holiday weekend when Bamkki stayed,

an Annex Standard room was around ~$58 per night,

but I recall the New Annex rooms were over ~$73.

3. Condition of MH Hotel Gaekridangil Branch Annex

As I said above, it's not like it was dirty or anything!

However, as soon as you step inside, you'll probably feel like, 'Oh, this is an old building...' hahaha

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The bathroom had no bidet or separate shower booth.

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided.

The window view wasn't much to behold anyway, as it faced the new annex.

There wasn't a view, and since we kept the air conditioning on,

we didn't open the window.

Even though it was almost fully booked, we barely heard any noise from other guests.

My partner and I were quite loud watching Netflix,

and seeing as there were no complaints, the soundproofing was excellent.

Honestly, since it was the Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival + Liberation Day holiday,

and we were prioritizing value for money,

we booked it thinking 'oh, a cheap place!!!'

So, we stayed there thinking, **'this is pretty good for the price!'**

4. MH Hotel New Annex Facilities: Underground Lounge

At Jeonju MH Hotel Gaekridangil Branch,

the front desk for check-in is located in the New Annex.

The lobby has computers and a printer,

which business travelers can utilize,

and there's also a water dispenser and ice machine available.

And a special feature is the lounge!

There's a lounge in the basement of the New Annex!

It probably used to be a restaurant or a bar.

You can bring in takeout or delivery food and eat freely here.

There's a microwave and a Han River ramen machine.

Plus, there's an unmanned convenience store here,

where you can grab snacks, alcohol, and more!

They even had board games 🤣

The day after the music festival,

I was too lazy to go out for breakfast...

so I cured my hangover right in the lounge! ⭐

While eating in your room is convenient,

considering trash disposal, eating in the lounge was also

a great option.

5. MH Hotel Overall Review - Would I Recommend it as Accommodation in Jeonju?

Location, Value for Money, Lounge

It was a satisfying base camp for our Jeonju trip.

However, make sure to check the difference between the Annexe and New Annexe in advance!

⭕ Recommended for:

·Walkers/pedestrian travelers in Jeonju (Gaekridangil, Hanok Village are close by)

·Couples or friends looking for accommodation who prioritize value for money

❌ Keep in mind if you are:

·Families with children or pets

·Those who prioritize pristine room conditions
