Seongsan Ilchulbong's Must-Try Eatery
Seongsan's Top Restaurant, Worth the Wait
Mannasikdang's Braised Hairtail (Galchi Jorim) - An Honest Review
Hey there, explorers! :)
I'm Tuitbari, your go-to travel influencer
always on the hunt for the next amazing culinary adventure.
While planning my trip to Eastern Jeju,
one of the places I was most excited about was
none other than Jeju Mannasikdang .
Before hiking up Seongsan Ilchulbong,
I aimed to arrive right at opening time to grab a meal,
but there was already a queue.
It truly lives up to its reputation as Jeju's leading
Seongsan Ilchulbong restaurant .
After writing down my name on the waiting list, I walked to nearby
TTT COFFEE (formerly Dorell Coffee) and stopped by to
enjoy their famous Nutty Cloud,
waiting while sipping a cup.
Sipping on the savory peanut cream-topped coffee
while waiting for about 20 minutes,
I was able to enter sooner than I expected.
If you're planning a trip to Eastern Jeju,
this is a great restaurant to visit alongside
Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak), Udo Island, and Seopjikoji.

Mannasikdang Menu and Honest Review of Galchi Jorim
Jeju Mannasikdang, Seongsan Ilchulbong Restaurant, Jeju Galchi Jorim Hotspot
The menu I ordered was the most popular
Galchi Jorim (braised hairtail) / Godeungeo Jorim (braised mackerel) .
As soon as the food arrived,
the first thing that caught my eye was
the generous portion of braised hairtail/mackerel.
Usually, restaurants in tourist spots
can be a bit stingy with portions,
but this place served a more generous amount than I expected,
which was very satisfying.
The seasoning, in particular, was truly impressive.
It had a perfect savory umami flavor –
not too spicy and not too sweet –
and the radish was deeply infused with the sauce,
making it perfect to enjoy with rice.
The hairtail meat was also tender and moist,
making me finish a bowl of rice in no time.
What I liked most was the value for money.
Considering recent prices, I felt this was one of the few restaurants
where you could enjoy Galchi Jorim without feeling a burden on your wallet.
After trying it myself, I understood
why so many people seek out Jeju Mannasikdang .
Personally, it was one of the most
memorable and
satisfying meals I had during my trip to eastern Jeju.
Closing Thoughts
If you're planning a trip to Seongsan Ilchulbong, Udo,
or Seopjikoji, I highly recommend
Mannasikdang as a dining spot.
It's so popular that people do "open runs" and there's often a wait,
but after trying it myself, I understood why.
It was a true Jeju Galchi Jorim hotspot , offering
reasonable prices, generous portions of braised fish,
and a sauce so delicious it's a "rice thief"! (meaning it makes you eat a lot of rice)
If you're preparing your eastern Jeju travel itinerary,
be sure to keep this in mind as a meal spot
before climbing Seongsan Ilchulbong or visiting Seopjikoji.
