Mangwon Dasijeom Seoul Book Cafe Review 2026: A Hidden Gem
Uncover Dasijeom, a serene and private book cafe in Mangwon-dong, Seoul. Perfect for quiet contemplation or focused work, it's a true hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful escape.

Not long ago,
I stumbled upon a real gem of a book cafe in Mangwon-dong,
so I made a reservation and paid a visit.
And the name itself is so intriguing:
Mangwon-dong Book Cafe Dasijeom!

Parking in Mangwon-dong can be a bit tricky,
so I'd recommend either finding a nearby public parking lot
or, even better, just taking public transport.
Just head out of Mapo-gu Office Station Exit 5
and walk for about 5 minutes,
and you'll spot the Dasijeom sign
on a building nestled in an alleyway.

Unlike typical book cafes,
Dasijeom operates purely on a reservation system,
offering a truly private and intimate experience.

When you take the elevator up to the 3rd floor of the building,
you'll find the Dasijeom entrance on the left,
and the restroom on the right. Super convenient!

Mangwon-dong Book Cafe Dasijeom
welcomes visitors daily from 10 AM to 11 PM.
I was really curious about what 'Dasijeom' meant,
and when I saw the Chinese characters (多視點),
it clicked! It means 'multiple perspectives,'
just like a multifocal lens – how insightful!

As time passes, this feeling, too,
will be encountered from another perspective.

Dasijeom's operating hours are divided into
morning, daytime, and evening sessions.
I chose the 'Daytime for Deep Reflection' session,
which offers the most relaxed experience.
Dasijeom in the Morning:
Weekdays ~$5/ Weekends ~$7
Dasijeom in the Daytime & Evening:
Weekdays ~$10/ Weekends ~$13

This place is also quite popular for photo shoots
and even special birthday cafe events,
so I highly recommend checking their monthly schedule
before booking your visit!
My Experience at Mangwon-dong Book Cafe Dasijeom

I'd seen pictures online, of course, but the moment I stepped inside,
I was absolutely captivated by the incredible ambiance of the space.
From the sophisticated muted wooden furniture
and the decorative rafters on the ceiling,
to the thoughtfully curated books arranged by theme
and the diverse seating options –
every single detail in this space just radiates meticulous care and a truly special vibe.

When you make a reservation at Dasijeom,
ice, illy capsule coffee, tea bags, and more
are provided, so you can freely
enjoy a drink.
Additionally, the owner
personally prepares
special drinks, wine, and beer,
which can be ordered separately.

I was curious about the Chamomile Matcha Latte
so I ordered it.
(Price: ~$4)

There were separate hangers available,
so after storing my outer jacket,
I looked for the Wi-Fi first.
As expected of a book cafe in Mangwon-dong,
the Wi-Fi information was
clearly displayed everywhere,
making it easy to find :)

After ordering my drink,
I decided to take a leisurely look around the space first.

There were multi-person tables that looked suitable for gatherings,
alongside
and somewhat private-looking
tables for two.

On the left side of the entrance,
there was an unusual curtain,
so I cautiously stepped inside, and found
a stylish space like a personal study!

When you put on the headphones, music plays,
and I felt enchanted, so I sat down for a bit
and enjoyed some music appreciation time... haha

And the music selection was truly extraordinary!

When I came back out from in front of the curtain,
there was also this space:

You can send a postcard
to record your day here :)
Apparently, they'll be sorted by theme
and displayed later.

I pondered what to write
until the very moment I left Dasijeom,
then quickly jotted something down at the last second
and slipped it into the drawer.😉

And beyond that,
there were so many charming spaces
that I seriously pondered where to settle down
for quite a while.

Honestly, my eyes were immediately drawn to this green single sofa, and can you believe it, it even came with a footrest cushion to prop up your legs?!
However, since I had my laptop with me, I figured it wouldn't be the most comfortable spot for getting some work done, so I decided to opt for another seat instead 🥲.

This individual desk was also incredibly charming, but the space felt a little too compact. It looked perfect for getting lost in a book, but perhaps not ideal for setting up a workspace.

There was someone else deeply engrossed in a book on the single sofa next to me, and the whole scene was so picturesque, like something straight out of a magazine! It made me realize why this Mangwon-dong book cafe is also incredibly popular for private event rentals..!

As I wandered with my laptop in hand, I found myself torn between these two spots that had power outlets. Ultimately, my decision was the window seat on the right!

A little while later, my Chamomile Matcha Latte arrived, and I was genuinely surprised! Who knew that chamomile tea and matcha latte could be such a perfect pairing?!
The unique earthiness of matcha was beautifully balanced by the chamomile, leaving a clean, refreshing finish. It was so good, I immediately wanted to try recreating it at home!

And then came another truly heartwarming touch: along with my drink, they presented me with a handwritten note containing a beautifully transcribed quote extracted from a book.
It was a passage from Paulo Coelho's – a book that left a deep impression on me as well!
A welcome oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life ✨

By this point, all thoughts of laptop work completely vanished, and I found myself just wanting to dive into a good book (what can I say?!). So, I decided to put my work aside for a bit and went to explore the book selection.

From timeless classic literature to thoughtfully themed curations in science, culture, and beyond, right up to the latest hot new releases, the selection was absolutely captivating!

Oh, yes, absolutely! As someone who wholeheartedly prefers the tactile experience of paper books over e-books, this sentiment resonated with me a hundred times over! I simply cannot give up the unique charm of physical books 😌.
In the end, I picked up a book I had been eager to read.
It was none other than the currently trending
<Goethe Said Everything>.

And so, with my delightful Chamomile Matcha Latte and a captivating book, I truly savored a leisurely and serene afternoon.

Finally,
here's what makes Mangwon-dong book cafe Dasi Jeom truly special...
One of the biggest factors that shaped the ambiance of the space was
the **gently flowing music**.

A memory of experiencing the wide and deep world of analog speakers at Odium came to mind,
so when I asked about the audio brand,
it turned out to be **Inkel's analog speakers**!
The owner even mentioned they were quite a rare find.
And so,
I spent a truly delightful time at Dashijeom, a book cafe in Mangwon-dong,
perfectly embodying its name,
"**Daytime Lost in Contemplation**."
If you visit during the daytime,
you can stay for up to 5 hours, which is fantastic!
I'm already planning my next visit,
perhaps bringing a friend or my husband along
when we have some free time.
For anyone exploring Mangwon-dong
and seeking a **quiet and private**
**book cafe**,
I can't recommend this spot enough!
