Mandala Indian Lounge is conveniently located just about 0.17 miles from Hapjeong Station Exit 3, making it an easy 5-minute walk.

It's tucked away in the main alley of Hapjeong, but the large orange sign on the building, clearly stating "MANDALA Indian Food," made it surprisingly easy to spot.

Head up to the 3rd floor, and you'll find Mandala Indian Lounge. It's a great spot for dinner or a date night in Hapjeong.

Atmosphere

Upon entering, I was quite surprised because the ambiance was different from what I typically imagine for an Indian restaurant.

Usually, Indian restaurants bring to mind vibrant decorations and traditional Indian-inspired interiors. Here, however, it felt more like a sleek, modern restaurant or lounge!

The decor features white and wood-toned tables, soft lighting, and even a bar area on one side, creating a very inviting space.

What truly impressed me were the panoramic window seats. Being on the third floor, you get a fantastic view overlooking the bustling Hapjeong streets. Since we visited in the evening, it was quite entertaining to watch the lively Friday night scene unfold in Seogyo-dong!

The atmosphere was definitely chic enough for a memorable date night.

Menu

The menu offered a wide array of choices, but after some deliberation, we opted for the 2-person set.

For our curry, we chose the lamb curry, and for drinks, we selected a lassi and a Coke. We also opted for naan over rice.

The lassi arrived first, topped with a dollop of cream, making it wonderfully smooth and sweet. It perfectly complemented the spiced dishes that followed.

And the Tandoori chicken? It was beyond amazing! Tandoori chicken can sometimes be dry, but here, the meat was incredibly moist and tender. It was perfectly seasoned, and dipping it in the accompanying sauces made it utterly addictive.

It might seem like a small detail, but the fresh salad with its tangy dressing paired exceptionally well with the chicken. And the green sauce (I'm guessing it was cilantro-based?) along with the chili sauce were absolute game-changers for dipping the chicken. Truly delicious!

It was clear that this restaurant has a real knack for perfectly seasoning its dishes.

The samosas also impressed, with their crispy exterior giving way to a generous filling of potatoes and vegetables, offering a delightful contrast to the naan.

The Lamb Masala Curry was rich and hearty, and tearing off a piece of warm naan to soak up that flavorful curry was, as always, a perfect combination!

I also appreciated the generous chunks of lamb in the curry.

My husband, halfway through his meal, exclaimed, "This is really good!" and wanted more, so we ended up ordering an extra plate of Chicken Tikka.

The Chicken Tikka was also incredibly tender and moist, not dry at all. It had a slightly more pronounced spice and curry flavor than the Tandoori chicken, which I found equally delicious.

Overall Verdict

Mandala Indian Lounge truly exceeded my expectations for Indian food, especially since it had been a while since I last indulged!

They offer a diverse menu, and every dish we tried, from the curries to the Tandoori chicken and Chicken Tikka, was exceptionally tasty. What truly stood out was the clean, lounge-like atmosphere, a refreshing change from typical Indian restaurants.

If you're in Hapjeong craving authentic curry or Tandoori chicken, or simply looking for a unique and flavorful date night experience, Mandala Indian Lounge is definitely worth a visit! :)
