Magok Dontamguso Review 2026: A Perfect Date Night Dinner Course
Planning a romantic evening? Our 2026 review of Magok Dontamguso's dinner course highlights why it's a top choice for couples seeking a memorable date night experience.

Hello, explorers!
This is Dari's Mom,
who enjoys discovering
and documenting neighborhood gems
while raising my child.

To celebrate my birthday week,
my husband and I went
to Dontamguso in Magok
for their dinner course.
It was a long-awaited date,
just the two of us, without our child.
This is a place I'd highly recommend
to couples looking to enjoy a course meal
slowly, while having a lovely conversation.
That's because you get 2 hours of parking,
you can savor each dish while listening to the chef's explanations,
and if there are two of you, you can share and try various menu items.
Why did we choose this place?

Menu
Lunch per person ~$19
Dinner per person ~$42
Highball ~$7
2 Glasses of Red Wine ~$14
Heineken ~$6
Corkage Fee
1 bottle (under 25% ABV) ~$15
1 bottle (25% ABV or more) ~$29
This place is well-known
as a fantastic date spot in Magok,
and I heard it's perfect for enjoying
a course meal on a date,
so I made a reservation in advance.
When you're raising a child,
meals always seem to be a rush, don't they?
This time, what I looked forward to most
was a dinner where we could slowly
savor each dish, one by one.

What's the restaurant atmosphere like?

Magok Dontamguso features
bar-style seating,
allowing you to dine right in front of the open kitchen.

you can directly watch the chef
cooking and plating each dish.

At our reserved seats,
there was a welcome note
with my name on it.
Inside the note,
the dinner course menu was listed
in order, which made it fun
to anticipate and check the next dish.

Throughout the meal, the chef
created a delightful atmosphere,
so even though it was our first time there,
we felt completely at ease.
It became clear why it's known
as a top date restaurant in Magok.
How is the Dontamguso Dinner Course served?

On the day I visited,
the course was served in a total of 8 stages, and
During the course,
there was a moment to choose between two tempting options.
1. Chestnut Mushroom Soup
2. Foamed Dressing Salad

5. Pork Belly with Watercress
6. Signature Homemade Jambon Burger
7. Nacho Pasta OR Abalone Risotto

Exploring the Don Tamgusoo Dinner Course in Magok!

Our first dish was
the Chestnut Mushroom Soup.

This warm soup
gently kicked off our course,
setting a wonderful tone for what was to come.

Next up was,
the salad topped with a light, foamed dressing.

It looked completely different
from any ordinary salad we'd had before.
The chewy dried persimmon was a delight,
and pairing it with apple created a refreshing burst of flavor!

For our third course,
we had lasagna
made with shiitake mushrooms.

It was so innovative
to discover that lasagna
could be made with mushrooms!

The fourth dish was
the Grilled Pork Tenderloin.

The moment I took a bite,
juices absolutely burst out,
it was incredible!

Paired with perfectly grilled
tomatoes and button mushrooms,
it was an absolute masterpiece.

For our fifth course,
we enjoyed cooked pork belly
served alongside fragrant watercress.
What a combination!
What surprised me was the flavor –
it had a distinct Mexican food vibe.
Who knew pork could taste like this?!
It was truly unique and fascinating.

The sixth item was
a refreshing signature burger
featuring homemade jambon.

The jambon, grilled to perfection in Isigny butter,
along with the zesty carrot slaw,
made for a truly delightful bite! Pure happiness.

After all these incredible dishes,
we both paused for a moment,
taking a brief breather.
Having a little break
mid-course
only made us anticipate
the next dishes even more!
Next, it was time to choose
between either pasta or risotto.
If you're dining as a pair,
I highly recommend ordering one of each
and sharing them!

My husband chose
the pasta topped with nachos.

Eating rigatoni with nachos was a really unique flavor experience.

And for me, it was abalone risotto
topped with fried samchae namul (a unique Korean wild vegetable).

After trying both,
my husband cast his vote for the pasta,
and I chose the risotto!

Even with our differing tastes,
it was actually fantastic because it meant
we got to savor both dishes!

Finally, for dessert,
we had a delightful blueberry treat.

Once I gently mixed it
and took a bite,
it was a perfectly sweet ending,
right down to the last spoonful!

We also ordered a highball in the middle of our meal
and thoroughly enjoyed it with our dishes.
From the very first course to the last,
it felt like a truly special dinner
where we were wonderfully catered to.
Perfect For These Explorers

It's highly recommended for couples and partners seeking
a quiet, intimate dinner and heartfelt conversation
on an anniversary or special date.
And for those craving a truly unique pork experience,
far beyond your typical Korean BBQ joint, this place is a fantastic fit!
What we loved most was being able to savor a fine dining course meal
at such a reasonable price point – a true gem!
