Experience the legendary Tokyo Ribera steak flavor right on Jeju Island at Macho Steak in Aewol. Find out if it lives up to the hype!

In early November,
during an outing to Aewol Handam Beach,
I visited the Macho Steak Jeju Direct Branch.
I'd always been curious about the taste of Tokyo's Ribera Steak after watching Choo Sung-hoon's YouTube channel, you know?
And since I heard this place brought that flavor over,
I decided to pay a visit while strolling along the Handam Beach promenade.

Parking near the Aewol Handam Beach Cafe Street can be quite challenging.
Macho Steak doesn't have its own dedicated parking, so I had to use the Kakao parking lot in front of 7-Eleven.
If you mention it when you pay, you get 1 hour of parking validated!
For those driving,
I recommend checking the parking location
beforehand.
Parking address: 2527-15 Aewol-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si

I went around 4 PM on a Saturday,
which was an odd time, so
I was able to get in right away without any waiting.
Apparently, you normally have to use Catchtable for on-site or remote waiting here.

You place your order directly at the kiosk near the entrance.
I ordered the Hanwoo tenderloin and
sirloin steaks,
and they were each ~$28.
There are two special sauces: the Macho secret sauce and the Ribera secret sauce.
I was curious, so I picked one of each.

It seemed to take about 6 minutes
from ordering until the food arrived.

When the steak first arrived,
a staff member helped us prepare it right at the table.
I don't think they always do this,
but I think they came over to help
because I was taking photos.

You're supposed to cut the steak and pour the sauce over it while the hot plate is still sizzling to enjoy it at its best,
but I hesitated a bit because I was busy taking pictures.
Anyway, thanks to that staff member,
I was able to comfortably capture some videos. Haha.

I had heard that the Macho secret sauce was on the sweeter side, and the Ribera secret sauce was saltier,
so we actually expected the Ribera secret sauce to suit our tastes better.
Surprisingly, the Macho sauce was more to our liking.
For our palates,
the Ribera sauce tasted quite strong,
while the Macho sauce had a perfect balance of sweet and salty, making it delicious.

Between the two steaks, the sirloin was more tender and delicious than the tenderloin,
and among them, the 'shrimp meat' cut was especially tasty.
Considering it's Hanwoo steak,
the price point seems decent.
However, it's still a significant amount
to spend on a single meal, so
my spouse and I felt that experiencing it once
was enough.
If you're curious about a unique steak experience at Aewol Handam Beach in Jeju,
or if you're interested in Ribera-style teppanyaki steak,
the Macho Steak Jeju Direct Branch
might be worth a visit.
If you're visiting Aewol Handam Beach,
keep this in mind for a meal option!

The Hanwoo tenderloin and sirloin steaks at Macho Steak Jeju Direct Store are ~$28 each. The author found the sirloin to be tastier and more tender than the tenderloin, specifically recommending the shrimp cut. As for the sauce, the sweet Macho secret sauce was a better fit for their palate.
