had opened, and I just had to go check it out!

It has a magnificent name,

Louis Vuitton Visionary Journey Seoul.

This was a high-caliber exhibition that beautifully unfolded Louis Vuitton's history, craftsmanship,

and the brand philosophy of ‘travel’

throughout the entire space.

How to Get There

The Louis Vuitton Visionary Journey Seoul exhibition

is held on the 5th floor of The Reserve building

at Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch in Myeongdong.

Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch is divided into three buildings:

The Estate, The Reserve, and The Heritage.

So make sure to find The Reserve building.

The Shinsegae The Reserve building, renovated in 2025,

is connected to the other buildings and Hoehyeon Station (Subway Line 4) from its B1 level,

and there are also connecting passages on the 4th and 5th floors.

Take the escalator or elevator up to the 5th floor,

and you'll find the impressive

Louis Vuitton Visionary Seoul exhibition hall.

The exhibition is quite extensive,

and it takes about 30-40 minutes to explore it thoroughly.

There are luxurious and comfortable restrooms near the entrance, so I recommend visiting them before you go in! :)

Exhibition Review

The exhibition features a total of 11 themes,

starting on the 5th floor and continuing down to the 4th floor,

naturally connecting visitors all the way to the store.

Personally, I vividly remember being impressed by the Louis Vuitton exhibition

'Volez, Voguez, Voyagez' at DDP in 2017,

so I had pretty high expectations this time – and it was definitely beyond what I imagined!

1. Origins

It's a widely known fact, isn't it,

that Louis Vuitton started as a trunk workshop

for transporting travel luggage.

In the first exhibition room,

the brand's pride in maintaining

this very identity for over 170 years

was clearly evident.

Original trunks from the 1800s

were displayed side-by-side with

modernly reinterpreted trunks.

Louis Vuitton's trunks are still

cherished as one of Louis Vuitton's signature products.

2. Watches

The progression from travel trunks to watches

didn't quite make sense to me at first,

but seeing the explanation, 'Time is travel's eternal companion,'

it made perfect sense.

There are always big clocks at train stations and airports, aren't there?

There's no moment when keeping track of time

is more important than when you're traveling!

Here, similarly, I could see

the evolution of the Louis Vuitton watch collection at a glance,

from classic alarm clocks crafted around 1910

to modern Tambour Monogram watches.

3. Picnic

With the invention of the automobile,

Louis Vuitton even collaborated with automotive brands

to design camping cars!

The trunk showcased here, containing a four-person dinnerware set

and ceramics, was absolutely magnificent.

A modern reinterpretation, the

picnic trunk, was also on display alongside it.

Perhaps because I go camping myself from time to time,

this picnic theme was the most memorable for me.

4. Customization

In its early days, Louis Vuitton offered a

customization service, manually adding desired

initials, numbers, or emblems for clients.

Starting in 2025, they are reintroducing

the Mon Monogram service, which allows customers to

choose their desired colors and bands. :)

5. Workshop

Ever since Louis Vuitton established its workshop in Asnières in 1850,

it has continued the workshop's tradition,

producing artisans across generations.

In this theme, the space exhibiting Louis Vuitton bags

alongside the tools used to create them was particularly impressive.

It's amazing how many different tools go into making just one bag!

It was also fascinating to see

the elements of the precise locking mechanisms

used in the trunks

separated for admiration.

6. Testing

However, no matter how much tradition is valued,

it's not just artisans sitting in the workshop

doing manual work all day long;

cutting-edge machinery has also been introduced

to refine the production process.

A robot named Louise was developed in 2013,

and it tests durability through repetitive tests

up to 36,000 times.

Approximately 153 models are said to have been released

after passing through Louise's testing process.

7. Icons

Next was a theme where you could admire

Louis Vuitton's iconic designs and

the works of various designers.

The Marc Jacobs and

Takashi Murakami collaboration

is a collection that's over 20 years old, but

even looking at it again, it truly felt like

a timeless and iconic design.

What's more, this particular theme's exhibition space itself

was adorned with mirrors on all sides,

making it truly dazzling!

8. Monogram

Next was a theme dedicated to Louis Vuitton's iconic

Monogram canvas.

Starting with human-sized teddy bears (?)

made from Monogram,

to Fan Bags and Dolphin Bags

made from Monogram canvas material,

the constant reinterpretation of the brand's heritage

is truly awe-inspiring.

That concludes the 5th floor exhibition!

From here, the exhibition continues

down the 4th-floor stairs after passing through a corridor.

9. Music

I hadn't realized it before,

but Louis Vuitton is quite

passionate about music too!

From ukulele cases and guitar cases

to Monogram LP record trunks,

and even adorable music boxes,

a diverse array of music-related products

was on display.

The speaker on the right

is apparently **manufactured in-house**

by Louis Vuitton themselves!

10. Collaborations

Louis Vuitton actively collaborates

with various artists.

From the highly famous Monogram Multicolor collaboration

with Takashi Murakami, to the recent collaboration with Korean artist **Park Seo-Bo**, which

once again garnered significant attention.

As collaboration pieces rotated and

filled the entire space,

it felt like an overwhelming space,

almost like watching media art!

11. Fashion

And just like that, the final theme!

I was able to leave the exhibition hall,

holding onto the lingering impression of the

**men's and women's collections**

by designers who truly made their mark

on Louis Vuitton's history.

It flowed seamlessly into the

Louis Vuitton store, and the store itself

was so beautifully designed it felt

like an extension of the exhibition! 🤣

It felt like the trunk exhibition

we saw earlier was still going on...!?

First off, the store was incredibly spacious,

and decorated with various vibrant themes.

There were so many products you wouldn't see

in other Louis Vuitton stores, like **game tables**,

that I spent ages looking around! 🫢

Even the Monogram plates were so beautiful...!

It was great to see Louis Vuitton's diverse lifestyle collections,

making the store experience excellent in itself.

If you don't have time to see the

Louis Vuitton Visionary Journey exhibition,

I think just visiting the

**Louis Vuitton store on the 4th floor**

would be a wonderful experience too!
