Seoul Sky Observatory: Sunset Views Review
How to Get KT VVIP Ticket Discounts

Looking for a truly special date spot in Seoul,
I recently visited Lotte World Tower Seoul Sky.

Rather than just visiting Seoul Sky at night,
I highly recommend entering before sunset to catch both the stunning sunset
and the dazzling night view.
I visited on a slightly cloudy day after some rain,
and at first, I was worried I wouldn't see the sunset.
But as time passed,
the sky opened up between the clouds
and a vibrant red sunset appeared, making it an even more memorable experience.

In this post, I'll cover everything from
how I actually got in with a KT discount, parking, directions,
the photo zones I discovered,
and the complete sunset and night view experience.

🏙️ Seoul Sky: World's 6th Tallest, Korea's Highest Observation Deck

Lotte World Tower itself stands at an impressive 555m (1,821 ft) tall, and
Seoul Sky, located at its highest point, offers panoramic views of Seoul.
The observatory itself is approximately 500m (1,640 ft) high,
ranking as the 6th tallest in the world.
Even the familiar Jamsil landscape, which I usually see from the ground,
felt completely different when viewed from such a height. It was truly breathtaking! 👍

Even before reaching the observatory, the path leading up to it is
packed with photo zones! ^.^🫶

(Seoul looks like a tiny LEGO city – pure magic! 🤭 lol)
You can see the Han River stretching out, and it was fun to spot
familiar places like Lotte World and Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
✅ What I loved was being able to walk around the observatory and
enjoy a 360-degree panorama,
taking in Seoul's cityscape from every direction.

🚡 Up 100 Floors in About 1 Minute by Elevator!
What was surprisingly cool at Seoul Sky was the elevator!
It reminded me of times when elevators were so slow that it was frustrating,
so I was truly amazed by the technology that takes you up 100 floors in just one minute! 🤩
You might feel your ears pop a bit on the way up,
but it quickly subsides! Plus, there are beautiful videos playing above the elevator,
adding to the experience.
♦️ Just a heads-up: the waiting time in line *before* getting to the observatory actually
took longer than the ride itself... haha.
Especially during sunset hours, it can get crowded,
so I recommend arriving with plenty of time.
The moment the screens slowly opened, revealing the
observatory like a sunrise... 👀
that was a truly highlight-worthy and magnificent moment.
🌇 Head Up Before Sunset for Both Golden Hour and Night Views
The time I most highly recommend visiting is
during the sunset hour, when Seoul's sky is painted in shades of red and gold! 🫶
❤️
At night, you can witness various breathtaking scenes,
with Seoul's sparkling city lights adding to the magic.
If you're planning a date in Seoul,
I highly recommend trying to catch the time around sunset!
Just a heads-up, the lines can get pretty long around sunset,
so it might be a good idea to head up a little earlier and snag a spot.

📸 Seoul Sky Glass Floor Photo Zone
If you're visiting Seoul Sky, there's one spot you absolutely have to check out:
the transparent glass floor photo zone.
With a design that lets you gaze straight down through the floor,
I didn't think much of it from a distance,
but once I got up close and peered down, my acrophobia kicked in, and it was genuinely terrifying! ㅠㅠ lol
It's a real heart-pounding experience... If you love a good thrill, you absolutely have to try it! ^^
Funnily enough, the little ones seemed completely unfazed...?! 😳

Beyond the breathtaking sunset views, if you manage to time your visit just right,
you might even catch a spectacular performance.
I was delighted to hear familiar tunes, even tracks from Pirates of the Caribbean,
which made the time spent at the observatory even more unforgettable!

Good to know: the cafe on site offers simple desserts,
perfect for when you're feeling thirsty or a little peckish!
Popping into the cafe is definitely a great option ☺️
:: 💳 Seoul Sky How to Use KT VVIP Discount |
One of the most useful things I discovered during my visit was
the fantastic KT Membership discount.
If you're planning to use the KT VVIP membership discount for Seoul Sky admission tickets,
there are a few important things you absolutely need to know!
Typically, for membership benefits, you'd make an advance reservation, right? Well, not here! Advance reservations are NOT possible! !

📌 KT Discount TIP
If you purchase one admission ticket at its original price,
the discount applies as a 1+1, meaning you get one ticket free!
♦️ Benefit Conditions
1. You must not have used your VVIP membership benefits for the current month.
2. You must make your payment in person on the day of your visit.
(Kiosk payment is possible) (Advance reservations are not possible)
So, if you're planning to take advantage of the KT VVIP benefit,
it's always a good idea to confirm the details before your visit.

And as an extra tip, if you're aiming to visit during sunset hours,
factor in the time it takes to buy your tickets on-site and get moving,
plus the wait for the observatory elevator.
I highly recommend not arriving too late.

🌬️ The Terrace Where You Can Step Outside and Feel the Wind
I always thought the viewing experience was strictly indoors,
but it turns out there's also an incredible terrace where you can step outside and really feel the wind!
Feeling the breeze directly from such an incredible height offers a completely different vibe than viewing it from behind the glass indoors.
On a day with good weather, I absolutely recommend checking out this outdoor space!
Just a heads-up: on cloudy or very windy days, the access conditions might change, so be sure to check on the day of your visit!

Oh, and here's a fun fact: Lotte Tower's basement also houses an amazing aquarium!
If you're traveling with kids,
you might want to consider combining the observatory and the aquarium for a fantastic full-day adventure.
Imagine: seeing the entire Seoul cityscape from the observatory, then diving into the wonders of the aquarium –
it sounds like a perfectly packed day for families with kids! :)
If you're not able to snag the KT discount,
you can easily purchase your tickets through the travel site linked below!

🚗 Seoul Sky Parking: About 4 hours were free!
If you're visiting by car, you can use the Lotte World Tower & Mall parking lot.
When I visited,
you could get about 4 hours of free parking when using the Seoul Sky observatory.
Daytime (10 AM ~ 8 PM): ~$0 per 10 minutes
Night/Late Night (8 PM ~ 10 AM next day): ~$0 per 10 minutes
Standard rates apply if Seoul Sky discount (up to 4 hours) is exceeded:
~$0 per 10 minutes, maximum ~$4
So, if your plan is just to visit the observatory and head out,
the parking cost wasn't as burdensome as I thought.

📍 How to Get to Seoul Sky
If you're using public transportation, you can access it from Jamsil Station (Subway Line 2 or 8).
I went through Exit 5,
and since Lotte World Tower and Lotte World Mall are connected,
there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby,
making it convenient to add other activities before or after your observatory visit.
If you're driving, use the Lotte World Tower & Mall parking lot and then
head towards Seoul Sky.
Just follow the directions as shown in the pictures!
However, if it's your first time visiting, the building is enormous, so I recommend
checking the flow of movement in advance: Parking → Seoul Sky Entrance →
Entry sequence.

⚠️ What I Found Less Than Ideal (from my personal visit)
It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, though!
First off, because Lotte World Tower is so massive, finding the Seoul Sky entrance was a bit confusing on my first visit.
Also, visitors can flock during sunset hours, so if you arrive without much time to spare,
you might struggle to see the view at your desired time due to waiting.
And on cloudy days, distant scenery might not be as clear.
So, if you plan to visit, I recommend checking the weather and sunset time, and arriving a little early.
Between 5 PM and 7 PM is recommended 👍

💗 Seoul Sky: My Overall Review
At first, I just thought of it as an observatory where you look down at Seoul from a high place,
but after visiting, what I enjoyed most was seeing the scenery transform from daytime views to sunset and then to the glittering nightscape, all depending on the time.
Especially this time, I didn't have high expectations due to the cloudy weather,
but seeing the sunset peek through the clouds actually made it even more memorable 🫶
I was also able to get a real discount with my KT membership, and parking was free for about 4 hours when I used the observatory, so it was convenient to visit by car.
If I go again next time, I'd love to see a clear night view of Seoul.
If you're looking for places to visit in Seoul or a date spot in Jamsil,
Seoul Sky is definitely worth bookmarking. 🩷
