L'Escape Hotel Myeongdong Review 2026: Michelin Breakfast & Value

Why I Recommend L'Escape Myeongdong!!

My staycation buddy and their senior both love it,

and L'Escape Myeongdong is a spot we frequent.

What truly captured our hearts was...

[1] Location

Just a 1-minute walk from Shinsegae Myeongdong!

Hoehyeon Station Exits 6 & 7 / A 3-minute walk to Myeongdong.

[2] Hotel Breakfast / Lounge / Dining

The breakfast and lounge, being part of the *Chosun* group, are simply the best!

Palais de Chine / L'Amant Secret

It boasts two Michelin-starred restaurants,

and Palais de Chine's dim sum is even served at breakfast!

If you're torn between including breakfast or not,

I wholeheartedly recommend going for the breakfast-inclusive option.

Because you get to savor Palais de Chine's dim sum right at breakfast!

If you look at the reviews, you'll find quite a few negative ones,

which initially stemmed from issues with infrastructure relative to its price point.

While it faced a lot of criticism, they've since significantly lowered prices

and with the consistently high quality of their food and beverages,

they've managed to transform those initial negative comments into glowing praise.

A current rating of around 9.1 truly shows how much effort they've put in!

[1] Suite Room

To fully enjoy the lounge at L'Escape,

you'll need to book a suite room.

Normal room prices hover around ~$207-~$276

while suites are roughly ~$276-~$345.

The fact that it's not overly expensive for a suite is definitely a big plus!

Unlike standard rooms, the suites

feature separate sofa and room corners,

a large 6-7 person sofa,

and two TVs – one for the sofa area and one for the bedroom side.

The sofa and main room aren't entirely separate rooms,

but are artfully divided by the sofa and a desk acting as a boundary.

The bathtub in the bathroom has such a Versailles-esque feel! 😉

Perhaps because it's a twin setup, with a vanity in between,

there are two sinks!

While it's not overflowing with items,

the mini-bar is complimentary!

The amenities include Byredo and

Allo Allo mouthwash.​

It's like the Hermes of mouthwashes, seriously! 😉

It's so gentle, smooth, and refreshing that

my friend even bought some as a gift for me! 😊

My friend's senior was so kind to

treat us to Palais de Chine room service,

and it was absolutely crispy and delicious!! Yum! 🤤

Normally, if you dine at the restaurant, you'd have to order a full course,

but with room service, à la carte ordering is available,

making it a fantastic opportunity to try out individual dishes!

Prices were in the ~$28-~$41 range.

[2] L'Escape Breakfast

L'Escape's breakfast, being part of the Westin Chosun group,

is truly~ delicious!

The breakfast area and the lounge area are one and the same.

It's famously known for serving Palais de Chine dim sum!

And the dim sum is truly exquisite.

As a Chosun-affiliated establishment, the kimchi and other Korean dishes are, naturally, incredibly delicious.

The Japchae, Mushroom Tangsuyuk, and Jeyuk-bokkeum

were even more flavorful than at Westin Chosun Aria,

I have a feeling that unique smoky flavor from Palais de Chine might have been added! 😉

The Chosun-style French toast? Absolutely a must-try!

And the breads are delicious too!

If they suit your taste, the live station dishes are also quite good!

[3] L'Escape Lounge

I had really high hopes for the L'Escape Lounge,

and it totally lived up to the hype!

With breakfast being so delightful, it's no surprise that happy hour was equally delicious,

and the liquor selection was excellent too.

Now, I'm not exactly an expert on wines or spirits,

but my husband took one look and practically started drooling, haha!

The table setting and plating were also beautifully done.

It was a feast for the eyes! *.*

The mussels and Dakgangjeong (sweet and sour crispy fried chicken) were absolutely delicious,

there were so many dishes perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Plus, cheeses that pair wonderfully with wine...

And the desserts were absolutely incredible!!!

It truly was a 'happy' hour in every sense.

[4] Library & Fitness

Quite a few people tend to overlook this spot,

but I seriously can't recommend the library enough, haha!

With its antique ambiance and beautiful lighting,

it's a perfect spot for those 'life shot' photos!

While not expansive, the fitness center is fantastic!

You can even play golf, so feel free to bring your gear.

Initially, there were quite a few reviews that felt it wasn't worth the price,

that the interior was a bit overly dramatic,

and that the absence of a swimming pool was a letdown.

However, with frequent events, delicious breakfasts,

and prices that have become more reasonable since its opening,

its reputation seems to have vastly improved.

Because there's no swimming pool,

you'll find more international guests and couples than families.

If you're looking for a sophisticated 'adults-only hotelcation' experience,

L'Escape comes highly recommended!
