I first stumbled upon the incredible work of artist Lee Sang-won years ago at a cafe somewhere in Jongno, and I've been a fan ever since💕

So, when I heard that Lee Sang-won's solo exhibition, <Restopia>, was being held at Hansot Artspace in Cheongdam-dong, I knew I had to go!🤩
And what perfect timing – September 1st, 2026, was also Cheongdam Night🌙!!
01 Lee Sang-won's 'Restopia' Exhibition
Cheongdam Night is a fantastic event where various galleries across the Cheongdam and Apgujeong areas host an open house, almost like a gallery tour, often accompanied by light parties.
I saw many people participating in the Cheongdam Night stamp tour, eagerly moving from one gallery to the next.

Of course, my main destination was Hansot Artspace, where Lee Sang-won's 'Restopia' exhibition, which I'd been longing to see, was being held!

02 Cheongdam Night Made It Extra Special
Because it was Cheongdam Night, Hansot Artspace had prepared a variety of special events! (And yes, I just realized it's Hansot, not Hansol, like the popular lunchbox brand!)

The event ran from 6 PM to 9 PM, and we arrived a little after 7 PM to find a good crowd already there. Even better, the artist himself was present!😍

I was too shy to say hello, haha. It looked like a signing session had already taken place, but he was still signing for fans.

They also had some simple, yet incredibly stylish, finger foods prepared. They were so beautifully presentedㅠㅠ💙

There were canned beers and highballs, but they offered us a refreshing Blue Lemonade. It felt like they specifically chose it because it perfectly matched the artist's work!🍋

The highlight was definitely the blue cream cheese in the center!

It was spread out generously, and you could scoop as much as you wanted onto biscuits. Doesn't it subtly resemble the artist's work?!🥹

What an incredible idea!💡🥹🥹
There were also nuts, honey, and olive oil. I think there might have been some Dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken) too, but it was all gone by the time we arrived, unfortunately!^_ㅠ
03 My Favorite Artwork?
The exhibition featured around 20 pieces by Lee Sang-won.

As expected, summer sea and swimming pool scenes, which are synonymous with Lee Sang-won's distinctive style, immediately caught my eye🌊

However, with the weather getting a bit cooler recently, the autumn🍁 and winter☃️ themed pieces were also incredibly captivating!

One can dream of having one of these hanging in their home someday!
My boyfriend, who's from Nice, absolutely loved Lee Sang-won's work, especially the sea paintings!🤗

For me, the best pick from this exhibition was this piece!

I've just started learning to swim, and this makes me yearn to swim as freely as the figures in the painting!ㅠㅋㅋ
This was my first time exploring galleries in the Cheongdam and Apgujeong area, and even on the way to Hansot Artspace, my eyes were wide with wonder👀

Being able to see the works of an artist I admire in person, combined with the vibrant atmosphere of Cheongdam Night, was truly a wonderful change of pace!♡
Starting September 4th, previously unseen artworks are on display, and 'Restopia' continues until September 19th (Saturday)!
