1. Visiting the Yongsan National Museum of Korea with My Child

I currently live in Jeju (제주), but when my child was young, we resided in the capital area. That's why the National Museum of Korea, a prime attraction in Yongsan, Seoul, holds so many cherished memories for our family.
Even on this trip to the mainland, we spent time enjoying the magnificent and diverse exhibitions in Seoul for my child, who has a passion for history.

The museum's souvenir shop, featuring the recently popular National Museum merchandise brand 'MU:DS (뮷즈)', was a real 'ant-lion's pit' – I struggled to keep my wallet tightly closed!
I was even more excited than my child, and I spent a long time exploring the National Museum's merchandise hall, a must-visit in Yongsan, Seoul. It was as popular as rumored, with countless foreign and domestic tourists lining up to enter and browse.

My child was also fascinated to see artifacts, which they had only seen in textbooks, reborn as stylish designer merchandise. I'll also introduce you to the location of the merchandise hall, where we truly enjoyed unique Seoul souvenirs, and a tour of the products that caught my eye.
2. Location of the National Museum of Korea Merchandise Hall in Seoul

Beloved as a top attraction in Seoul, the National Museum of Korea is easily accessible by public transportation via Ichon Station (이촌역) on Subway Line 4 and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, using Exit 2 and the Museum Promenade.
There are also diverse nearby attractions if you're with children, such as the National Hangeul Museum (국립한글박물관), Yongsan Family Park (용산가족공원), and Yongsan I'PARK Mall (용산아이파크몰).
The National Museum of Korea itself is so vast that it's difficult to see everything in a single day. With various exhibitions constantly on display and so many things to explore, it's a fantastic sight to introduce in Seoul.

Merchandise Hall 1 is located in the Eutteum Hall (으뜸홀) in the center of the first floor, while Merchandise Hall 2 is near the entrance of the Special Exhibition Gallery on the same floor, so you'll naturally encounter them while viewing the exhibitions.
Merchandise Hall 1 is larger, but Merchandise Hall 2 contains most of the goods. So, if you want a quick browse, head to Hall 2, but if you want to take your time and explore in detail, Hall 1 is your destination.

3. Merchandise that Stole My Heart

First, my eyes were drawn to the official BTS x MU:DS collaboration merchandise, and from the first glance, I was so captivated by the designs that I almost completely opened my wallet!
With the musical message of BTS blended into national treasure artifacts and traditional patterns, these Seoul souvenirs are incredibly popular with ARMYs worldwide and museum visitors.

When I visited,
they had the 2026 BTS X MU:DS
Collaboration Merch.
To commemorate the release of BTS's 5th full album, Arirang,
merchandise inspired by the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok (성덕대왕신종),
such as pins (₩45,000 (~$34)), clips (₩54,000 (~$41)),
and cardholders (₩55,000 (~$41)), was on display.

Sales kicked off on Friday, March 20, 2025,
and initially, you could purchase items by pre-order.
After that, any remaining stock was sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue.
Even in mid-summer when I visited, the items were still on display.

After my visit, they collaborated with BLACKPINK,
and a variety of goods featuring a harmonious blend of pink and black were displayed.

The MU:DS x Kakao Friends collaboration collection is also ongoing,
and while there are many different items,

Among them, the Pensive Bodhisattva (반가사유상) doll keychain
and the Ryan doll keychain are said to be exclusive to this very spot, so keep that in mind!
With so many high-quality goods, this merchandise hall itself felt like an exhibition in Seoul,
a must-see attraction in Yongsan (용산), Seoul (서울).

The particular merchandise I was personally looking forward to seeing in person
was the keyboards (each ₩119,700 (~$90)) that capture the vibrant colors of traditional *dancheong* patterns
and the deep, elegant celadon hue of Goryeo celadon.
And they certainly captured my heart!

And this beautifully radiant *gonggi* set also captured my heart at first sight!
It's the Geumgangsan Saekdong Gonggi (₩25,000 (~$19)), a traditional *gonggi* game set and spoon rest,
created with the landscapes from the <Geumgangsan Cultural Folding Screen> owned by the National Chuncheon Museum (국립춘천박물관)
and the vibrant colors of *saekdong* patterns.
It came in two colors: Hanui Silver and Notdam Bronze.
Since I personally love mother-of-pearl,
my desire to own something flickered once again at the National Museum of Korea, Seoul (국중박 서울박물관).

Throughout the merchandise hall of the National Museum of Korea (국중박) in Seoul,
there were also many goods incorporating the *gat* (traditional Korean hat).
This *gat* wall clock (₩45,000 (~$34)), with its modern and contemporary design,
looked perfect as a housewarming gift.

And the scarves (each ₩230,000 (~$173)), which seemed like wonderful gifts for parents, were also quite appealing.
I remember an emotional visit with my husband to a tiger-themed exhibition held at the National Museum of Korea (국중박) in Seoul
— truly one of the must-visit places in Seoul back then.

What truly caught my eye from that Seoul exhibition's gift shop
were these tiger ceramic artworks.
Including the Eoryong Tiger (each ₩420,000 (~$315)) and

the adorable Cutie Tiger (each ₩250,000 (~$188)), these ceramic art pieces
are expressed with humorous, round expressions and vibrant colors.
My husband showed so much affection for them,
he even said he wanted to collect them all, by size and by design!

Beyond these, there were also stationery, bags, wallets, tableware, and more.
I had a wonderful time browsing various Seoul souvenir goods, including lighting.
4. Wrapping Up Our Visit to the National Museum of Korea's (국중박) Merchandise Hall

I've introduced you to the Merchandise Hall of the National Museum of Korea, a popular Seoul museum where people of all ages can truly enjoy the sights of Seoul's Yongsan District (용산), offering not only artifact exhibitions steeped in history and tradition but also a treasure trove of stylish museum-themed merchandise.

It was such a happy time, visiting a place in Seoul's Yongsan District where you can create warm memories with your children, discover unique souvenirs, and make meaningful memories with little ones who have a passion for history.
I actually got more excited than the kids at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul, so I'll definitely have to visit again soon to explore the exhibitions I missed and browse through the amazing goodies at the Merchandise Hall once more!
