Hey everyone, have you heard of the artist Kikuni?!
He's famous for posting these incredibly touching stories, often right when you're commuting to work, making you grit your teeth and try to hold back tears on the subway, right? Haha.
I've always loved Kikuni's Instagram webtoons because they're so heartwarming and funny. So when I heard he was holding a special exhibition at DDP this year, my friends and I just had to go!
Since we visited, I've put together a complete guide for you, covering everything from weekend visits and waiting times to ticket discounts and our review!
1. Dates, Location & Prices
The Kikuni Special Exhibition <We Drew, We Were> is being held at Exhibition Hall 1 of the DDP Museum.
📍 Dongdaemun Design Plaza Museum, Exhibition Hall 1
281 Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
Since it was a weekend, I figured parking at DDP would be complicated, so I took the subway. It was super convenient because DDP is directly connected to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, so even on a hot day, I didn't have to walk far outside and could get indoors quickly!
If you're coming by car, you can use the DDP parking lot by mentioning your vehicle registration at the ticket box!
The exhibition runs until September 6, 2026!
Viewing hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and last admission is at 7:00 PM.
Ticket prices are
~$16 for a regular adult ticket.

2. Weekend Waiting Time Pro Tip
If you're visiting on a weekend, I absolutely recommend getting there right when they open!
Actually, I tried visiting once on a Sunday around 3 PM,
and even with a ticket, you couldn't just walk straight in.
The estimated waiting time for entry was a whopping 1 hour and 30 minutes! T_T
So, I ended up giving up that day and went back the following Saturday around 10:30 AM.
This time, I got in right away with no waiting! Haha.
At the beginning of the exhibition, it was a bit crowded with visitors,
so we had to line up a little to view each piece.
But by the time we reached the middle, it became much more relaxed!
We spent about an hour and a half exploring,
and by the time we were heading out,
the crowd of people waiting to enter was starting to build up again.
If you want to check it out on the weekend without the wait,
I highly, highly recommend going early in the morning!!
3. Review of the Keykney Special Exhibition: The Scale
As soon as I walked in, I was so surprised because the exhibition was much bigger than I expected..!!
Every single space was packed with artwork, installations, and photo zones,
leaving absolutely no empty gaps,
so there was just so much to see!
Out of everything, the most memorable part for me
was definitely the rainbow escalator ㅠㅠ
Author Keykney has such a gift for sharing pet stories
in a way that truly tugs at your heartstrings,
which made it resonate with me even more ㅠㅠ
Having said goodbye to my very first dog a few years ago,
I found myself pausing in the space dedicated to those who have lost their beloved family members,
looking at the pieces over and over again...
I seriously couldn't bring myself to step away ㅠㅠ
On the flip side, there were also plenty of pieces that captured everyday moments,
like sweet family interactions or office life that anyone could relate to,
all told with Author Keykney's signature humor! haha
It was so incredibly fun to read!
Seriously, how do you even come up with these ideas, Author????
His mind-blowing wit and sense of humor
kept me in absolute awe throughout the whole exhibition, haha.
This is the piece that literally had me clapping with laughter, lol.

It seems everyone has the same thoughts while getting their coffee fix at work:
I want to go home.
I miss Mom.
I miss Dad.
I want to go play!
Hahahahahahaha
While we had a blast enjoying the exhibition earlier,
interspersed throughout, there were works that depicted
the difficult moments that come in life,
the emotions from those times,
and themes that everyone could relate to.
The expressive power in each and every piece was simply incredible,
making me feel truly amazed...!
No wonder they're such an acclaimed artist, haha!
5. Overall Review
It wasn't just an exhibition with paintings hung up;
many areas were decorated like artworks themselves,
and with various photo zones where you could directly experience things and take pictures,
the 1 hour and 30 minutes flew by.
Even if I tried hard to find something disappointing,
there was nothing that came to mind,
so personally, it was a truly enriching exhibition.
More than anything, even compared to other exhibitions,
the ticket price wasn't burdensome,
and with the current NOL Ticket discount, you can see it for around ~$7,
I think it's an incredibly fulfilling and great exhibition!
Before you go, make sure to purchase a discounted ticket
and don't forget to enjoy it affordably!
