Your Ultimate Guide to Kiaf Frieze Seoul 2026
From Tickets to VIP Perks, Art Week, Cheongdam & Samcheong Nights, and Parties!
Every September, Seoul transforms into one massive art spectacular.
This year, Kiaf SEOUL and Frieze Seoul will once again be held concurrently at COEX, and to coincide with this period, various events are taking place at museums and galleries across Seoul. Beyond just exhibitions, look forward to late-night openings, docent tours, DJ parties, performances, and so much more!

Now, if you're like me and aren't someone who can rattle off modern artists' names on command,
“So, what exactly do I *do* at Kiaf and Frieze?”
— and that's totally fair!
Well, this year, thanks to a wonderful friend, I was invited as a Kiaf VIP companion and got to visit on VIP Day, September 2nd.
So, I'm excited to share my firsthand experience and round up all the amazing events you can enjoy during the Kiaf and Frieze period.
2026 Kiaf SEOUL & Frieze Seoul Schedule
📍 COEX
Kiaf SEOUL 2026
Dates: September 2nd ~ September 6th
- This year marks Kiaf's 25th anniversary, featuring 175 galleries from 18 countries.
Frieze Seoul 2026
Dates: September 2nd ~ September 5th
- Over 130 galleries from 30 countries and regions will participate.
September 2nd is dedicated to VIP and preview access,
with general admission starting afterwards.
Kiaf runs one day longer than Frieze, until Sunday!
General admission tickets are joint Kiaf + Frieze passes, so you can explore both fairs with one ticket.
For 2026, tickets are priced at ~$66 for morning passes, ~$51 for afternoon passes, and ~$182 for Preview Tickets.
You can find more details on this year's event scale and schedule in pre-opening press reports.

But here's a secret: Kiaf and Frieze at COEX aren't the *only* shows in town!
To perfectly complement Kiaf and Frieze, Seoul Art Week also takes place concurrently.
2026 Seoul Art Week
Dates: August 31st ~ September 6th
During this period, beyond COEX, you'll find events in...
Euljiro / Hannam / Cheongdam / Samcheong
...and other major art districts across Seoul.
Galleries that typically close in the evening will stay open late into the night,
hosting opening receptions, cocktail hours, champagne toasts, DJ parties, performances, and more.
In other words,
Daytime = Kiaf + Frieze at COEX
Nighttime = Gallery Nights across Seoul
That's how you can truly experience this year's Art Week!
What makes the 2026 Kiaf VIP experience different?
I received a VIP invitation from a friend, and here's what I found out:
✔️While general Kiaf and Frieze tickets allow single entry,
VIP tickets grant unlimited entry throughout the entire event period!
✔️Access and reservations for various Art Week VIP events
✔️Special museum benefits during Art Week
✔️Exclusive dining and hotel benefits during Art Week
✔️BMW pickup service available for Kiaf attendees
✔️There's a dedicated Kiaf VIP app.
Through the app, you can manage your entry pass, invite companions, check VIP programs, benefits, and more, all in one place.
Specifically, my Kiaf VIP pass indicated
entry was valid until 8 PM on September 2nd,
and the app even had a built-in companion invitation feature!
※ Please note that privileges may vary depending on the VIP tier or invitation type, so it's always best to check your specific pass for details.

VIP Benefit ① VIP DAY Access
September 2nd is the exclusive VIP and preview day, before general admission officially begins.
Given the nature of art fairs, where artworks are also sold, it's a day when collectors and art industry professionals get a first look.
[Details about VIP entrance, pass, overall exhibition, atmosphere, Kiaf/Frieze entrances]
VIP Entrance
* Pass
* Overall Exhibition Space
* Crowd Atmosphere
* Kiaf / Frieze Entrances
VIP Benefit ② Exclusive Docent Tours
Docent programs tailored specifically for Kiaf VIPs are also available.

VIP Benefit ③ An Abundance of Programs Beyond COEX!
Personally, I was quite surprised when I checked the VIP app because the VIP programs aren't just confined to the exhibition hall.
Gallery Night / Docent / Museum Tour / Exhibition Opening / Reception / Art Talk / Life Style
They're categorized under headings like these.
* Park Seo-Bo Art Museum Seoul Museum Tour
* Leeum Museum of Art Exhibition Opening
* Ho-Am Art Museum Exhibition Opening
* Art Sonje Center Breakfast Talk
* Collector Talk
* Kiaf × The Hyundai Art Evening
* Kiaf × Marie Claire Korea Art Day & Night
* Bonguensa Temple Tea Ceremony Experience
* Hannam Night
* Cheongdam Night
* Samcheong Night
These were some of the exciting listings.
However, it's worth noting that not all programs listed on the VIP app are exclusively for VIPs.
Programs like Gallery Night or those from Seoul Art Week, which are open to the general public, are also featured, and some programs on the VIP app even require separate reservations.

VIP Program ④
Bonguensa Temple Tea Ceremony Experience
📅 September 4th
⏰ 14:00~15:00
📍 Bonguensa Temple
This program is hosted with RSVPs taken through the Kiaf VIP app.
It's designed to allow you to experience traditional Korean tea culture right at Bonguensa Temple, conveniently located next to COEX.
It's quite a unique combination — going from an art fair straight to a temple for a tea ceremony!
[Advance RSVP Required]
⸻
Art Talks You Can Find on the VIP App
You can also catch the Kiaf SEOUL × KAMS × Frieze Seoul Talks.
Beyond that, the app features various other programs, including Collector Talks and museum exhibition-linked talks.
Honestly, if you're not deeply familiar with contemporary art, spending hours just looking at artworks can be a bit tiring. So, it's a great idea to pick an interesting talk to break things up!

Where to Go After Kiaf and Frieze Once Night Falls?
During Art Week, district-specific Gallery Nights are held.
Hannam Night already took place on September 1st,
followed by September 2nd — Cheongdam Night,
and September 3rd — Samcheong Night.
They continue in this sequence.
Wednesday, 9/2: Cheongdam Night
This coincides with the Kiaf & Frieze VIP Day.
So, on this day, it's perfect to follow a route like:
COEX → Cheongdam/Dosan → Gallery Night.
SongEun Late-Night Opening
📍 SongEun
441 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
📍 SongEun
⏰ 11:00~22:00
On September 2nd, SongEun will operate later than its usual hours for a special late-night opening.
Extended viewing is available from 18:30 to 22:00, and they're also running late-night docent tours.
Plus, there's a special event: visitors who follow SongEun's official Instagram after viewing the exhibition will receive ice cream!
Separate reservations are required for exhibition viewing.

9/2 Seoul Auction Cheongdam Night
Seoul Auction is also joining Art Week by hosting a special Cheongdam Night party for one day only on September 2nd.
At the exhibition hall, you can enjoy:
🥂 Champagne + Catering
This event promises a delightful experience.
There's a separate application page, so make sure to check if registration is required before you visit.
Thursday, 9/3: Samcheong Night
The next day, the vibrant atmosphere shifts from Gangnam towards Jongno.
Galleries and museums around the Samcheong-dong area will have extended evening hours, with various programs running concurrently.

Art Sonje Center ASJC Samcheong Night Party
📅 Thursday, September 3rd
⏰ 19:00~22:00
📍 Art Sonje Center
Alongside exhibition viewing, there will be an outdoor screening,
plus a cocktail reception and a LIVE DJ SET!
It's all set for an unforgettable evening.
The DJs for the night are Mummy, Junghoo, and Kitty.
They're recruiting 50 attendees, and you can apply with one companion.
However, advance application is a must.
This isn't just a simple late-night gallery opening; it's a full-fledged party experience!

September 3rd: Ilmin Museum of Art Free Evening Opening
📍 Ilmin Museum of Art
⏰ 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
In celebration of Samcheong Night, the museum will have special extended hours until 9:00 PM.
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Free Admission to 《VIBE ERA》
If you're spending your evening in this area,
Ilmin Museum of Art → Samcheong-dong Gallery Night → Art Sonje Center Party
it seems like a great way to structure your itinerary!
⸻
Kiaf × Marie Claire Korea ART DAY & NIGHT
📅 September 3rd
There's also the ART DAY & NIGHT program, a collaboration between Kiaf and Marie Claire Korea.
It's a fantastic setup where you can enjoy exhibitions and art programs during the day, followed by receptions and opening parties in the evening.
This year, some programs have limited capacities, so you'll want to check the pre-booking status.

What Was the Seoul Art Week Opening Like?
Seoul Art Week kicked off on August 31st with the Euljiro Opening Night.
Centered around the New Museum Euljiro branch, approximately 20 visual arts spaces across the Euljiro area participated, featuring:

* Exhibitions
* Workshops
* Artist Talks
* Performances
* Networking events
* DJ Parties
and more.
They even operated a free ART SHUTTLE BUS connecting the event venues throughout the Euljiro area!

In other words, Seoul Art Week is much more than just a 'museum discount week'; it's a vibrant cultural event where you can explore various parts of Seoul well into the night.
It's important to know that you don't need a Kiaf/Frieze ticket to enjoy all of Seoul Art Week's programs.
There are plenty of programs you can enjoy without a ticket!
Some, like the Ilmin Museum of Art's free evening opening, are completely free, while others, such as Gallery Night or special museum events, have their own admission or reservation requirements.
Conversely, even among the programs listed on the VIP app, some still require an RSVP.
So, for each event,
FREE / RSVP / VIP / Paid
I recommend checking the status individually before you go.
Personally, what I felt was good to know
before visiting Kiaf and Frieze was:
First, don't just search for Kiaf and Frieze.
To uncover many hidden gems, you should also look up Seoul Art Week, Cheongdam Night, Samcheong Night, and even the Instagram accounts of individual museums and galleries.
Second, RSVP quickly.
The more exciting-looking parties and experiences tend to have limited capacities. For instance, the Art Sonje Center party was capped at 50 people, and there were separate RSVP programs even within the VIP offerings.
Third, plan your evening schedule too.
Especially on September 2nd (Cheongdam) and September 3rd (Samcheong), it would be a shame to go straight home after the art fair ends!
Fourth, if you're a VIP, check the app first.
It's not just for showing your pass to enter; there are surprisingly many programs like Museum Tours, Art Talks, Gallery Nights, and Lifestyle events.
Conclusion
Even if you're not an expert on artists or artworks like me, it's absolutely possible to enjoy Seoul itself as a festival during the Kiaf and Frieze period.
During the day, you can explore Kiaf and Frieze at COEX,
then in the evening, head to Cheongdam or Samcheong to discover museums and galleries that stay open later than usual.
And by night, you can sip cocktails or champagne, or even hit up a DJ party!
Especially after visiting as a VIP this year, it seemed much more exciting to explore the various Museum Tours, Gallery Nights, Art Talks, and Lifestyle programs linked in the VIP app, rather than just sticking to the exhibition halls.
