J-Spot Magok Hot Pot Review 2026: Beef, Mala & Menbosha
Discover J-Spot Magok, a renowned hot pot restaurant in Seoul offering both beef and mala hot pot, plus delicious menbosha. Perfect for dates or groups!

I heard that a famous **hotpot restaurant** from Pangyo opened in COEX Magok, so I went to check it out!
It's J's Pot Magok branch.
📍 J's Pot Magok Branch
Unit 208, Basement Level 2, Tower A, COEX Magok, 143 Magokjungang-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul
It's located on Basement Level 2 of COEX Magok, which is connected to Magoknaru Station.
Parking is also super convenient with a spacious underground parking lot offering **2 hours of free parking**.

COEX Magok is home to a variety of fantastic restaurants,
and J's Pot is located **inside, to the right** of Shanghailou.

Their **Signature Hotpot Set** is famous, and it comes with broth, meat, assorted vegetables, meatballs, and noodles!

The restaurant has a sophisticated Chinese dining ambiance, yet it feels comfortably casual at the same time,
making it perfect for family meals or a date night!

What's more, there's a large table in the back that can **seat up to 10 people**, making it a great spot for company dinners too! :)
It's quite rare to find a hotpot restaurant that caters to solo diners but also has seating for large groups, so I think it's a pretty unique place.

My husband and I visited for a date and sat at the **bar counter**.

There was a cute panda doll next to us, seemingly enjoying its own hotpot!
Since it's a hotpot restaurant designed for individual servings, the bar counter also seemed perfect for solo dining!

You can place your order at the kiosk located at each seat,
and there are 8 different broths to choose from, offering plenty of variety.
Among them, three signature sets with recommended toppings were for **Mala, Beef, and Tomato** broths,
while for the other broths, you can choose your own toppings.

Since there were two of us, this is what we ordered!

You can also create your own custom sauces at the self-serve bar.
There are **4 sauce recipes** provided, including a basic one, so you can try a variety of flavors, and a wide array of ingredients are available.

I personally found the **peanut sauce** to be the most delicious!

And then, after a short wait, behold – the incredible sight of our Signature Hotpot Set!
Talk about generous portions, right?!

With such a fantastic array of ingredients – from vegetables, assorted mushrooms, and meatballs to beef and noodles – there was never a dull moment for our taste buds!
Each Signature Hotpot Set comes with different toppings perfectly curated to complement its specific broth, which is a brilliant touch.
That's why I highly recommend ordering two different types of broth to share! :)

My husband's choice: the Beef Broth Set!
Just by the name, I thought it would be similar to a hearty Korean 'Uyuk-tang' (beef soup).
But to my surprise, it was a clearer broth, reminiscent of a slightly Korean-style 'Galbi-tang' (short rib soup) with a truly deep beef flavor.
It was a flavor that everyone, regardless of age or preference, could enjoy without hesitation – universally delicious!

And for me, the Mala Set.
I boldly ordered it, thinking, 'Hotpot just has to be Mala!' But honestly, since there was no separate spice level adjustment, I was a little nervous it might be too hot.
Thankfully, the pungent kick of mala and Szechuan peppercorns was definitely there, but it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, so I could truly savor every delicious bite!
(Though, I did quickly remove those visibly spicy red chilies before they steeped too much!)

Another fantastic detail was that the Mala Set includes an assorted tofu platter!
I absolutely love enjoying various dried tofu and tofu skin with my hotpot, so I thought this was a match made in heaven!
Meanwhile, my husband's Beef Broth Set came with an assorted mushroom platter, so we happily shared everything.

Just a side note: the sets include shrimp dumplings by default, but I was curious about the meat dumplings too, so we ordered an extra serving.
And indeed, the shrimp dumplings were the absolute best! 🤗 The bouncy, fresh shrimp texture was perfectly preserved, making them incredibly delicious!

We also mixed up three kinds of sauces – sweet chili sauce, a basic house sauce, and peanut sauce – and had a blast trying everything with different dips.
My personal favorite was the peanut sauce, while my husband's top pick was the sweet chili sauce!
It's a great idea to experiment with different sauces to find what best suits your palate!

Seeing Menbosha on the menu, we decided to order it as a side dish.
I highly recommend eating it while it's still warm and perfectly crispy, right after it's cooked!

Just like with the shrimp dumplings, the shrimp texture in the Menbosha was absolutely fantastic!
The batter wasn't too thick or greasy either – it felt just right. And dipping it in the cream sauce? Pure culinary magic!

As we were happily leaving after our meal, I noticed they even had a Shabu-shabu & Cocktail event going on!
There was a coupon for one free cocktail, so I quickly snatched it up.
Shabu-shabu and cocktails – now that's a combo I hadn't imagined! Next time, I'd love to come back with more leisure and savor a cocktail in that lovely ambiance :)
