Budget-Friendly Stays in Seogwipo, Jeju
Honest Review of JS Hotel Seogwipo: Room & Breakfast
If you're exploring Jeju Island without a rental car, I've got the perfect budget-friendly hotel recommendation for you in Seogwipo!
Even though I ended up renting a car this time around 😁
Located right in the heart of downtown Seogwipo,
it offers unbeatable accessibility, fantastic nearby amenities, and
a price tag that's hard to resist.
Can you believe getting a hotel room AND breakfast for two for just ~$48?
Here’s my completely honest, unsponsored review
of my wallet-friendly stay at JS Hotel Seogwipo!
Standard Double Room & Breakfast
First off, the location of JS Hotel Seogwipo gets a solid 10/10. 👏
✔️ Just an 8-minute walk from Seogwipo Bus Terminal
✔️ Surrounded by tons of restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores
✔️ Close to hospitals, pharmacies, and a large supermarket
Because it's situated in a primary commercial and government district
(near City Hall, the police station, etc.), the local infrastructure is excellent.
For backpackers or car-free travelers, being close to major bus stops
and the airport limousine route is a huge plus.
Having so many dining options within walking distance
makes life so much easier! 👍

My rental car was small enough to fit into the hotel's mechanical parking tower.
However, if you have a high-clearance vehicle or an SUV, you'll need to park
in the free public parking lot situated behind the hotel and walk over.
Honestly, if you plan on driving in and out frequently during your stay,
the outdoor lot is probably more convenient anyway.
Having to use an off-site lot might seem like a slight hassle,
but it's definitely better than having no parking at all! 🤔
A quick tip: about 10 minutes before you check out in the morning,
call the lobby from your room to request your car.
They'll have it pulled out of the tower and waiting for you,
saving you precious vacation time.

Right after checking in, I received a mobile notification.
It included a comprehensive guide to the hotel's amenities and general info.
I actually really appreciate this digital approach.
Let's be real—when the front desk staff rattles off all the rules
during check-in, most of us just nod and immediately forget it all anyway! 🤣

The lobby features a rack of Jeju Island tourist brochures
and a small business center where you can print documents if needed.

There's a 7-Eleven convenience store located directly inside the hotel building.
While there are plenty of other stores in the immediate neighborhood,
you just can't beat the convenience of having one right downstairs!

I was initially thrilled to see that all rooms support Netflix,
but reading the fine print, I realized
you have to log in with your own personal account.
I canceled my Netflix subscription a while ago,
but when I turned on the TV, the previous guest
had forgotten to log out! 🤣🤣
They also offer discounted rates for a partnered yacht tour (Grande Bleu Yacht).
A sunset cruise definitely sounded tempting.
I stayed in the Standard Double Room for one night.
Since I only needed a place to crash, I booked it last minute the day before.

Even though my trip was in early October (a shoulder season in Jeju),
I snagged the room—including breakfast for two—
for just ~$48!
Such an incredibly reasonable price, right? 🩷
Looking at current rates for December 2026, you can still find rooms for around ~$54.
It's undeniably one of the best budget hotels in Seogwipo.
Of course, you have to choose a room without a view to get these rock-bottom prices! 🤣
JS Hotel does offer Ocean View rooms for a premium.
But if you're like me and just need a bed, the "Wall View" is perfectly fine.
Open the curtains, and you're greeted by the lovely cement wall of the neighboring building! Haha.

The Standard Double Room was the perfect size for two people.
It's not massive, but it certainly doesn't feel cramped.
When I booked, it was listed as a 4-star hotel.
In all honesty, the overall vibe and luxury level
feel closer to a solid 3-star or 3.5-star property.

Still, it has everything you need,
and the cleanliness was up to par, so I was perfectly satisfied.

They provide an electric kettle, tea bags, and complimentary bottled water.
There's even an ice bucket—a nice touch, likely because so many tourists
enjoy winding down with a drink after a long day of exploring Jeju! ㅎㅎ

I loved the large vanity and mirror.
There's a small tea table by the window, but the vanity desk is
spacious enough to comfortably set up a laptop if you need to get some work done.

Right next to the vanity is the closet.
I didn't snap a photo of it, which probably means there weren't any bathrobes provided.

The bathroom and shower area were also surprisingly roomy.

As part of recent eco-friendly regulations in larger Korean hotels, disposable amenities are no longer provided.
You'll need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.
Alternatively, you can just grab them from the 7-Eleven downstairs.

The shower booth is stocked with large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The water pressure was excellent, and the plumbing worked perfectly.
If you opt out of breakfast, you can currently book a Standard Double Room
on a weekday for around ~$31!

While writing this post, I noticed JS Hotel also offers
special rates for long-term stays.
If you're planning a 'Jeju One-Month Stay', or even just a week-long trip,
you can live the hotel life for roughly ~$38 a night!😲
To be completely transparent, there are plenty of other hotels in Seogwipo
that offer similar amenities and price points.
The main reason I chose JS Hotel over the others?
I heard rave reviews about their breakfast buffet!🤤
I don't usually eat a big breakfast at home,
but when I'm at a hotel, it's a must.
So, I pulled a baseball cap down over my messy morning hair and headed downstairs!
⏰ 6:00 AM ~ 9:30 AM (Last entry at 9:10 AM)
💰 Adults ~$18 / Children ~$9

The buffet dining area was quite spacious with plenty of seating,
and the spread looked decently varied at first glance.
However, the dishes lean heavily toward traditional Korean cuisine rather than Western staples.

Even when I travel abroad, I'm not someone who actively seeks out Korean food,
so I was hoping for more Western breakfast options.
Instead, it was mostly home-style Korean side dishes (banchan). 😅
If you love a hearty, traditional Korean breakfast, you'll probably be very satisfied!

I managed to scrounge together a decent plate
from the limited Western brunch options available.

Given all the hype I'd read about the food,
I had high expectations. Honestly, though? It didn't blow me away.
Maybe the Korean dishes were the star of the show?
After all, scrambled eggs, a side salad, and toast taste pretty much the same everywhere! 🤣
Still, starting a full day of sightseeing with a solid meal
in my stomach definitely felt good.
Overall, the breakfast was just okay.
If I were to stay here again, I'd probably skip the buffet
and book the cheaper 'Room Only' rate!
Since I'm not a big breakfast eater anyway,
I'd rather just pop over to the A Twosome Place right next door
for a morning coffee and a pastry. ㅎㅎ
