On a recent trip to Jongno (종로) to pick up our wedding rings, we decided to stay at MJ Hotel Jongno (엠제이호텔 종로).
It’s conveniently close to the bustling downtown area, yet the hotel itself is nestled in a residential neighborhood, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. Plus, check-in starts at 3:00 PM, which was a huge plus.
Our last stay in Jongno was a bit of a nightmare; we didn't realize how many outdoor eateries and bars were near the station, and the noise kept us up all night. The late check-in and questionable cleanliness were also disappointing, so we were looking for something better this time around.

Why We Chose MJ Hotel Jongno

The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Jongno 3-ga Station, and about a 10-minute walk to Jongno Jewelry Street. This location is super convenient for travelers coming from other parts of Korea for a 'Jongno ring tour' or anyone looking to explore the area.
Unlike our previous accommodation where late-night outdoor dining noise was a constant, this hotel's residential setting meant quiet nights and restful sleep.

The first floor features a front desk and a self-check-in kiosk. Given Jongno's popularity, there are many international guests, and the hotel staff are happy to assist with luggage storage.

Check-in was a breeze using the kiosk. When searching for hotels in Jongno, many places only offer check-in from 8 or 9 PM, so having a 3:00 PM check-in here was a major plus!
Deluxe Twin Room Review

We booked a Deluxe Twin room, which came with one double bed and one single bed. I've been struggling with neck pain lately and prefer a lower pillow, so I was thrilled to find two pillows of different heights on each bed.

Between the beds, there's a small bedside table with a separate power strip, which was perfect for charging our phones overnight.

Having a dedicated dressing table was a nice touch, though I wished there was an outlet closer by.

The hairdryer was tucked away in a dressing table drawer, and the mini-fridge was stocked with three complimentary bottles of water.

There's also a hanger to keep clothes organized, and for a one-night stay, six towels were more than enough. My boyfriend, who's quite particular about hotel towels, was happy they had no strange odors.

The bathroom was another highlight of our stay. It was spotless, with no unpleasant smells or mold. The water pressure was good, hot water was readily available, and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all provided.

Our room also had a window, which prevented it from feeling stuffy, and we appreciated being able to open it for fresh air.

When I booked, Yeogi Eottae (여기어때) was the cheapest with a discount coupon. However, prices fluctuate wildly, and as of October 2026, Yeogi Eottae was actually the most expensive! The difference was more than just a few dollars, so I compared prices across different platforms:
₩114,406 (~$86) | ₩128,633 (~$97) | ₩144,500 (~$109) |

Currently, Trip.com offers a much better deal than what I paid. Hotel prices vary greatly depending on when you book, so I highly recommend checking multiple platforms before finalizing your reservation.
Breakfast & Amenities
Complimentary Breakfast Hours: 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM

In the mornings, you can enjoy a simple, complimentary breakfast in the dining area on the first floor.

The breakfast spread included toast, cereal, boiled eggs, yogurt, and fruit. While not extensive, it was perfectly adequate for a light and convenient start to the day.

And here's a fun bonus: complimentary Han River Ramyun! You can use the machine anytime, making it a great option for a late-night snack or even a quick, casual breakfast.

The first floor also houses a communal laundry room with both a washer and dryer, both available for free use. My previous hotel fell short on noise and cleanliness, but MJ Hotel Jongno excelled in both areas.
1. Walking distance to Jongno 3-ga Station
2. Walking distance to Jongno Jewelry Street
3. Quiet at night due to residential area
4. Clean rooms and bathrooms
Add to that the early check-in, complimentary breakfast, free ramyun, and laundry facilities, and it made for a truly comfortable one-night stay.
If you're planning a 'Jongno ring tour' like us, or looking to explore nearby Ikseondong (익선동) and Seosunragil (서순라길), I highly recommend comparing prices and considering MJ Hotel Jongno.
