Craving authentic Korean beef tartare and brisket? Baekje Jeongyukjeom in Jongno, Seoul, delivers an unforgettable culinary experience perfect for a casual daytime bite.

Last weekend, my partner and I were on a mission in Jongno, Seoul, checking out wedding rings. After traveling all that way, we knew we had to treat ourselves to an unforgettable meal.
A friend of mine, Nayoon, a true Seoul local with impeccable taste, had recommended a restaurant she'd frequented for years. As soon as I saw the reviews, I knew this was the spot!
This is my review of Baekje Jeongyukjeom, a renowned eatery famous for its delicious yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and chadolbagi (beef brisket) :D
Baekje Jeongyukjeom
Hours of Operation
Monday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 9:30 PM
Break Time: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Closed every Sunday
📍 Baekje Jeongyukjeom
34, Jongno 35-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

I walked from Jongno 3-ga Station, and it took about 15 minutes to arrive. The old-school vibe of the restaurant was visible from a distance, immediately sparking a sense of excitement.
We visited around 1:30 PM on a Saturday, and fortunately, we were seated immediately without any waiting.
Inside the Restaurant

The kitchen is open, which is always a good sign. Given the constant flow of customers, it seemed they had the basic side dishes pre-set and ready to go.

We walked past the main dining area into the back, and it seemed there were additional private room-style seating options beyond the main hall.
For a Saturday lunchtime, the place was almost completely full, with only one or two tables open.

The restroom was located outside the restaurant, to the right. To be honest, don't expect a luxury experience there. However, there's a separate hand-washing station inside the restaurant, which is convenient for before and after your meal.
Half Chadolbagi + Half Yukhoe Platter
0.55 lbs Chadolbagi, 0.55 lbs Yukhoe. ~$37

Almost every review recommended the Half Chadolbagi + Half Yukhoe platter, so I didn't hesitate to order the same. With 0.55 lbs of chadolbagi and 0.55 lbs of yukhoe, we thought we might need to order more, but it turned out to be the perfect amount for two people.

The broth and water are self-serve. The broth, a beef-based soup, wasn't quite like a traditional Seolleongtang and had a somewhat ambiguous flavor that wasn't entirely to my liking.

Our chadolbagi and yukhoe arrived almost immediately after ordering. The side dishes might seem simple, but they were perfectly adequate for enjoying with the meat. When the meat is this good, you don't need much else!

The day was warm and humid, so the chadolbagi started to thaw quickly. We wasted no time getting it on the grill.

Next up was the yukhoe. While it had the texture of commonly found frozen beef tartare, the seasoning was absolutely out of this world! It instantly became clear why this seemingly ordinary yukhoe and beef restaurant was so popular.
I mixed it right away and took a bite, and that's when the craving for a cold beer started to set in 🍻

Taking a bite of the perfectly cooked chadolbagi with a bit of yukhoe on top made ordering a beer completely unavoidable. Even though it was the middle of the day, we ordered one right away. With a combination this good, how could I possibly resist a drink?
Seasoned Rice (Yangnyeom-bap)
~$2

After enjoying a good portion of the yukhoe and chadolbagi, we ordered the seasoned rice.
You can mix any leftover yukhoe into the rice, turning it into a delicious yukhoe bibimbap. This is an absolute must-try!
I highly recommend saving a little bit of your yukhoe from the beginning to mix with the rice.

Even though it was daytime and quite warm, we initially planned to just have one light drink. But we couldn't resist and ordered another round of beer.
We weren't the only ones; almost every table around us was enjoying a casual drink as well.

We cleared our plates completely! I later found out that Baekje Jeongyukjeom is already a famous restaurant in Jongno. I couldn't believe I hadn't discovered it sooner! The combination of chadolbagi and yukhoe was fantastic, and the seasoned rice at the end was the perfect finish.
If you're in Jongno for a wedding ring tour, a date, or just looking for a hearty, delicious meal, I highly recommend checking out Baekje Jeongyukjeom.
A big thank you to Nayoon for the excellent recommendation! ♥️👍
Baekje Jeongyukjeom operates from 10:00 to 21:30, Monday to Saturday. The break time is from 15:00 to 16:30. Every Sunday is a regular day off.
For a suitable portion for two, the 'Chadol-ban + Yukhoe-ban' (Half Brisket + Half Beef Tartare) menu is recommended. This menu consists of 250g of Chadolbagi (brisket) and 250g of Yukhoe (beef tartare), and its price is ~$37.
Baekje Jeongyukjeom is located at 34, Jongno 35-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It takes approximately 15 minutes on foot from Jongno 3-ga Station.
Seasoned rice can be ordered when you order Yukhoe. You can enjoy it like Yukhoe Bibimbap by mixing any leftover Yukhoe with the seasoned rice. It's recommended not to eat all the Yukhoe initially, but to save a little to mix with the rice.
