Discovering Jjurong Bakery in Seoul's Yeonnam-dong
Home of the Famous Dubai Chewy Cookies
I recently had a work appointment in the bustling Hongdae area on a weekday afternoon, and I couldn't resist checking out a spot nearby that's been making waves: a bakery famous for its unique Dubai Chewy Cookies (or 'Dujjonku' as they're known locally).

This highly-praised spot is none other than Jjurong Bakery, widely known for its online dessert delivery service! While their original location is in Gimcheon, they've become so popular that they've opened a branch right here in Seoul.

Jjurong Bakery in Yeonnam-dong crafts its delightful desserts based on four core principles:
1. Rich, Authentic Dessert Flavors
2. Seasonal Ingredients
3. Gluten-Free for Easy Digestion
4. High-Quality, Carefully Sourced Ingredients
And honestly, these principles really resonated with me!

When I first visited, it was around 3:00 PM on a weekday, and to my dismay, the display cases were already looking pretty sparse! 😂

I mentioned this to my foodie friend, and she jokingly said that if there were still plenty of treats left by that time, it probably wasn't a good sign! 🤣

As expected, the Dubai Chewy Cookies were completely sold out. Disappointed, I picked up an Oreo Crumble instead. But here's the unexpected twist!
The staff mentioned that stock varies daily depending on ingredient availability, and today they were planning to make a fresh batch of Dubai Chewy Cookies around 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM!

My work schedule meant I could make it back right after finishing up for the day. So, I thanked them and left, already dreaming of my second attempt!

At 6:00 PM, I dashed out of work right on time and headed straight back to Jjurong Bakery. And what do you know!

I caught them in the middle of making a fresh, dazzling batch of Dubai Chewy Cookies! Talk about lucky! 🍀
I was fortunate enough to snag some of these coveted cookies without any waiting!
Just so you know, the price for one Jjurong Bakery Dubai Chewy Cookie is ~$5! I found it to be a pretty reasonable price, especially for such a unique treat. 😉

And so, I proudly headed home, two bags from Jjurong Bakery in hand, feeling quite accomplished!

As soon as I got home, I had to try one. And wow, the kadaif texture truly stood out! It was absolutely delicious. Now I completely understand why these Dubai Chewy Cookies are creating such a buzz!
Honestly, I'm not usually a big fan of marshmallows, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. The marshmallow coating was incredibly thin, so it didn't have that typical cloying sweetness or texture. It was almost mochi-like, a surprisingly pleasant and un-intrusive chewiness.

The owner was incredibly friendly, and successfully getting my hands on those Dubai Chewy Cookies made my visit to Jjurong Bakery a truly memorable one. I'll definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Yeonnam-dong!
If you're searching for Seoul's best Dubai Chewy Cookie spot, I highly recommend giving Jjurong Bakery a try!
