Pungnyeon Bakery's Main Branch in Jeonju is conveniently located near Jeonju Gyeonggijeon Shrine.
Our accommodation was in the Jeonju Gaeksa area, so it was a pleasant stroll over.
If you're just grabbing something for takeout, you can briefly park your car right in front of the store.
*The photo shows the entrance, but there's an asphalt paved area next to the sidewalk behind it where you can briefly pull over.
However, since there's also a spacious cafeteria, if you plan to relax and enjoy your bread and coffee, look for Pungnyeon Bakery's dedicated parking lot (109 Jeondong, Wansan-gu).
You'll get a 1-hour free parking voucher with purchases over ~$14!
2. Inside Jeonju's Famous Pungnyeon Bakery & Menu
The Pungnyeon Bakery Main Branch is a standalone building.
The first floor houses the counter and bread displays, while the second floor is dedicated to the cafeteria.
The space felt even larger and more inviting due to its generous area and high ceilings.
The first floor also had about 4-5 tables for quick bites.
While Pungnyeon Bakery in Jeonju is renowned for its Choco Pies, they offer an incredible variety of other breads too!
With options like Potato Focaccia and Seolgi-style bread, it's also a fantastic spot for breakfast or a light meal.
Since their rice crackers (Jeonbyeong) and Choco Pies are popular souvenirs, they even offer convenient shipping services!
3. Pungnyeon Bakery Main Branch: A Great Jeonju Cafe for Studying or Working
As mentioned, the second floor of Pungnyeon Bakery's Main Branch is a dedicated cafeteria space!
And let me tell you, it is absolutely massive!
The seating area is so vast that it's unlikely to get completely full, even during busy times. You'll always find a spot!
There are even semi-private rooms partitioned off and plenty of seats perfect for studying or getting some work done.
They even have traditional floor seating areas, making it a welcoming space for families with children or international visitors looking for a unique experience.
4. Our Review of Pungnyeon Bakery's Jeonju Eomuk Bread, Chodang Corn Seolgi, and Handmade Choco Pies
Since we weren't planning a long stay, we simply ordered our bread and coffee on the first floor.
Having skipped breakfast, we opted for a combination of filling bread and some Choco Pies!

It looks like garlic bread, but the real 'kick' comes from the cream inside, infused with finely minced spicy green chilies. It was 10 AM, and all I wanted was a **beer**!
Next up was the Chodang Corn Seolgi, which we chose as a more substantial meal item.
It's important to remember it's a type of bread, not traditional rice cake!
The natural corn flavor from the whole corn kernels on top was fantastic, and the texture was somewhere between a castella cake and a chewy rice cake.
It would be absolutely delicious with a glass of milk! 👍
And of course, the Soft Mango Choco Pie.
It wasn't overly sweet, and the mango jam inside gave it a lovely, abundant mango aroma and flavor.
We also tried Pungnyeon Bakery's seasonal Peach Yogurt Choco Pie, which features a distinct peach-flavored chocolate coating.
I'm generally not a fan of overly sweet treats, but Pungnyeon Bakery's Choco Pies struck the perfect balance – just the right amount of delightful sweetness.
