Jeonju Natural Ecology Museum 2026: Fun for Kids & Nature Lovers

Our morning kicked off with a quick stop at a local bakery, Song Heaven, before we launched ourselves toward the Jeonju Natural Ecology Museum! Let's go!

Our first hurdle? The parking situation was an absolute nightmare! I genuinely couldn't believe it.

This impressive facility is quite large, but the parking lot is tiny, almost comically so. And since it's located in a popular tourist area, finding alternative parking nearby was impossible.

Honestly, it was a bit frustrating.

However, once we made it inside, we were pleasantly surprised. For a free facility, it's incredibly well-designed and packed with engaging activities!

There are plenty of interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences!

Including a cool drone simulation that makes you feel like you're soaring over the Jeonjucheon Stream!

We even tried our hand at 'finding the Korean rosefish' (shiri) in the water. It was a fun little challenge, but nothing too exciting.

There was also an exhibit where you could 'block the waterway to save aquatic life.' It was a bit puzzling at first, but an interesting concept for the kids!

And of course, the ever-popular Dr. Fish experience was a huge hit with all the kids!

Most of the exhibits are hands-on, and you can easily spend 1-2 hours having a blast.

My child spent over 20 minutes just with the Dr. Fish... my hands were definitely a bit puffy afterward!

Everyone was gathered around, enjoying the sensation.

It was funny to see the older elementary school kids looking on, probably wondering why the younger ones were so captivated!

We certainly got our fill of Korean rosefish!

It was fascinating to learn just how many different creatures call the Jeonjucheon Stream home.

It truly was a day of learning, playing, and hands-on discovery with the kids.

I recognized the otters, but then there was this flying squirrel character!

How cute is that?

I think it would make a fantastic mascot for Jeonju!

Apparently, the Korean rosefish is also called 'Yeonaegaksi' (which roughly translates to 'love bride').

Interesting!

I guess I'm a little jealous of that romantic name!

They even have a bicycle ride where you pedal to make virtual fireflies light up and 'fly' around!

My child rode it more than five times.

It was quite a workout for me!

Apparently, if you pedal too fast, it doesn't charge properly.

But why was I still pedaling so quickly, you ask?

There's a fantastic interactive corner where kids draw a picture, and then it transforms into a bird or a cat on a big screen!

My child was absolutely amazed to see their creation come to life.

So, I found myself patiently waiting for their masterpiece to appear on screen, haha!

Next up was a fishing game – but it wasn't just about catching fish.

When you 'caught' one, it would show you the species.

And then, after a bit, it would also prompt you to 'pick up trash'!

It's a clever way to teach kids about different ways to protect nature.

Time really flew by with all these engaging activities.

You swing the fishing rod to 'catch' fish and then 'collect' trash – a truly interactive environmental lesson.

So, how did we handle lunch?

We heard that Dagadong Gukmul Tteokbokki, a famous soupy tteokbokki spot, was nearby, so we placed an order for delivery.

The delivery driver just left it right in the parking lot for us – pretty convenient!

We happily devoured the Tuna Kimbap and Tteokbokki with the kids.

Of course, we made sure to take all our trash home with us.

While recycling was an option, there was no place to dispose of food waste, so we had to bring that back too!

Just something to keep in mind for your visit.

Overall, I'd give the Jeonju Natural Ecology Museum a perfect score, minus the challenging parking!

It's truly a hidden gem for families in Jeonju. Highly recommend!
