🍚 Jeongnamok Sundaeguk: A Balsan Station Lunch Gem
Highly Recommended For:

✔︎ Anyone craving a warm, hearty bowl of gukbap
✔︎ Fans of Maksa (Makgeolli + Cider)

My brother and I had just finished our health check-up,
and we were absolutely famished, dreaming of a hearty meal.
So, as soon as the check-up was over, we dashed to the nearest Sundaegukbap place we could find.

We ordered from our table,
and I originally just planned to get Sundaegukbap.
But as I was about to order,
I spotted the 'Sillim Sundae Gopchang Set,' which included one Sundaeguk
and a side of stir-fried vegetable gopchang!?
As a huge gopchang lover, how could I possibly pass that up....
Plus, my brother insisted I get it because he knows how much I love yakgop (vegetable gopchang)... haha!
So, we ordered the Sillim Sundae Gopchang Set, plus one more bowl of clear Sundaeguk.

These were the basic side dishes they served – that's it!
But I noticed there was no dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste) on the table.
So, I asked a staff member for some, and they pointed me to the self-service bar.

The dadaegi was actually at the self-service bar.
So, if you need some, feel free to grab it yourself!
And just so you know, perilla powder was already on the table.

While I was up getting the dadaegi,
I took a moment to check out the self-service bar.

All the basic side dishes were abundantly available at the self-service bar,
so you can definitely get refills if you need more.
But what really caught my eye at the self-service bar was the 'Slush Maksa'!

Although it's called 'Slush Maksa',
it felt more like regular Maksa than a slushie, to be honest!
Anyway, the best part is that this Maksa (Makgeolli + Cider) is completely free to enjoy as much as you want!
After one sip, I could definitely taste the sweetness from the cider – so refreshing!

As I was savoring the Maksa, my clear Sundaeguk arrived before I knew it.
It looked so deliciously milky-white, I thought it would be amazing even without any extra seasoning,

But for Sundaegukbap, you absolutely have to add plenty of chives, lots of salted shrimp paste,
a generous amount of dadaegi, and even more perilla powder – that's how you get the true flavor!
My brother joked that if I was going to add all that, I should've just ordered the spicy version... haha!
But anyway, that's how I created my very own custom Sundaeguk!
The *sundae* (blood sausage) in the *sundae-guk* was just right,
and personally, I absolutely loved how generous they were with the meat!!
It was great to have plenty of ingredients to enjoy with my rice until the very last bite!!

The *sundae* and *tteok* (rice cakes) were delicious!
