Jeju Udo Submarine, an adventure I experienced with the Jeju Tour Pass!
Currently, it's no longer included in the Tour Pass and requires a separate booking,
but it was truly an **unforgettable and special experience**.
It was heartwarming to see that most visitors were families traveling with children,
and the **kids absolutely loved it**, which was wonderful to witness.

When you ride the Jeju Udo Submarine, you can dive
**approximately 30 meters** into the waters off Udo Island and return.
The round trip takes **about 1 hour and 20 minutes**, but
the actual time spent inside the submarine is around 30-40 minutes!
For your information, there's also a **Submarine + Passenger Ferry package**, which is
about ~$7 more expensive than just using the submarine.
However, it's not possible to spend a night on Udo and
return by ferry the next day with this package, so it's only recommended
for those who want to experience **Udo Island as a day trip**.

I went with my husband, dad, and sibling – a group of four.
Even with the Tour Pass, there was a significant extra charge, which made me wonder if it was truly worth it.
But in the end, everyone agreed it was **definitely worth the cost**! : )
First, you take a boat from Seongsan Port to reach the submarine.
Technically, it's just the journey to the submarine, but it was a double win as we also got to admire
**Udo's breathtaking scenery** along the way!
As soon as you disembark, it's straight onto the submarine!
There are stairs to descend to get inside, but the
**staff were so friendly and unhurried**, making sure
both seniors and children descended safely and comfortably.
There's a single row of seats on both the left and right sides.
Initially, the left side offers better views, but later on, there's more to see on the right.
If you sit at the very front like we did,
you can also watch the **submarine being operated** from behind!
Once the program begins, you'll slowly descend to a depth of 30 meters,
accompanied by the **guide's fascinating explanations**.
It's captivating how the underwater scenery changes as you go deeper!
The diver circles the submarine,
feeding the fish, so you don't need to be disappointed if you don't see them right away—just wait.
We went just with adults,
but 80% of the visitors were families with children,
and seeing how much the kids loved it made me feel excited too! : )
The grand finale is the diving performance!
To prepare for this performance, the staff
personally learned free-diving techniques from real Haenyeo (female divers).
Of course, you need a bit of luck with the weather to see it,
but it really felt like a program where a lot of effort was invested.
Especially in Jeju, which is hotter than the mainland,
if it's too hot to walk around outdoors in the middle of the day,
the Jeju Udo Submarine is perfect as an indoor travel course.

Q. What should I be careful about when boarding?
Even if you don't usually get seasick like me,
riding a ferry + submarine + ferry can induce motion sickness,
so I recommend taking motion sickness medication beforehand.
I confidently went without it and struggled a bit.
Thanks to my family, who enjoy new experiences like children,
I got to ride the Jeju Udo Submarine for the first time.
It exceeded my expectations, so I really wanted to recommend it! :)
