Cafe Seo-yeon's House Jeju: Architecture 101 Filming Site

Way back when,

in 2012, this was the filming set for the movie 'Architecture 101,'

starring Suzy, Lee Je-hoon, Han Ga-in, and Uhm Tae-woong.

In 2013,

it reopened, reborn as a charming cafe!

It's *that* iconic house from the movie <Architecture 101>,

absolutely brimming with Seo-yeon's cherished memories.

​

Nestled in the heart of Jeju Olle Trail Course 5

(Wimi-ri, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province),

this spot is

both an iconic filming location for the movie 'Architecture 101'

and the delightful Cafe Seo-yeon's House.

Cafe Seo-yeon's House

is located at

86 Wimihaean-ro, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju.

As you cruise along the Wimi-ri coastal road,

you'll naturally stumble upon it.

It's in a spot where you

naturally encounter it,

so rather than seeking it out intentionally,

many travelers discover it by chance and stop by.

Even so,

it's registered on navigation systems,

so finding it wasn't difficult at all.

​

With the sparkling ocean right at its doorstep, the cafe is even more atmospheric and beautiful,

sparking nostalgic memories of the movie

and stirring up a wonderfully sentimental mood.

Through the large glass windows,

you can see the vast ocean.

​

The path leading into the cafe is absolutely charming and adorable,

and you can feel Jeju's distinctive vibe, which made it all the more delightful.

You'll even find a photo of actor Jo Jung-suk,

who played the unforgettable character 'Nappeugi'!

Here's what we decided to try!

Admittedly, the prices were a bit on the higher side.

But the food had a wonderfully rich flavor,

and the Cacao Latte tasted genuinely healthy.

The carrot cake, true to its name, had a strong, delicious carrot flavor, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved how the large glass windows offered a captivating sea view, framed by lush trees, creating a wonderfully open space where you could truly reminisce about the movie.

​

There's a scene where Han Ga-in (Seo-yeon) looks out at the sea, listening to "An Essay of Memory" again.

I imagine her here, gazing at the ocean and listening to her CD player through earphones.

​

15 years ago, Han Ga-in and Uhm Tae-woong liked each other,

but were separated by a misunderstanding.

15 years later, she searched for Uhm Tae-woong again,

but he was with someone else, so it didn't work out.

After she left,

​

she listened to Kim Dong-ryul's "An Essay of Memory," a song filled with their shared memories.

It wasn't a happy ending,

and their first love didn't come to fruition,

making it a poignant scene.

Combined with the melody of "An Essay of Memory," it became an even more memorable moment.

Even just gazing out at the sea view made this place special.

​

​

The spacious wooden floor was thoughtfully arranged with armchairs

and circular tables, giving them plenty of room.

The space was incredibly vast,

and with the sea and village scenery visible outside the windows,

it felt wonderfully airy and refreshing.

In another section,

you'd find charming wooden tables and benches,

and cozy round tables.

On the nearby walls,

movie quotes and photos were hung,

letting you immerse yourself even deeper into the film's world.

This room felt a bit cozier, a perfect spot to sit back and unwind,

and it seemed to be a popular haunt for the locals too!

Maybe because the movie is now 14 years old,

they both look incredibly fresh and youthful.

Suzy is just stunning!

I wonder what my niece was thinking as she looked at them? ^^

It was Café Seo-yeon's House, the filming location for "Architecture 101,"

a place where you can enjoy the sights,

feel closer to the movie,

and heal while gazing at the ocean.

Parking

There is parking available right in front of the café,

enough for 2 to 3 cars.

​

However, on peak season weekends,

the parking area can get crowded,

so I recommend visiting

when you have plenty of time.
