Places to Visit on a Rainy Day in Jeju
Sanyangkeuneonggot (산양큰엉곶) Recommendation
I visited Sanyangkeuneonggot, a place where you can capture photos of a lifetime.
I've explored many parts of Jeju Island (제주도), but Sanyangkeuneonggot is located in the west, so it had been a while since my last visit.
However, as luck would have it (or rather, unlucky timing!), it was pouring rain on the day we went...
Honestly, I don't mind rain or rainy scenery, but I was worried about my family...
Thankfully, my family happily agreed, so we decided to embark on a full-on West Jeju trip together!
As a result, I completely fell for the dreamy, fairytale-like scenery of Sanyangkeuneonggot on a rainy day!
So, I'm letting you know that we even went back the next day when the weather was nice, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sanyangkeuneonggot for your West Jeju trip! 🧡
So, shall we take a look at why I recommend Sanyangkeuneonggot as a place to visit on a rainy day in Jeju Island, with some photos?
Just how beautiful Sanyangkeuneonggot was on a rainy day!
Ta-da!
Of course, it's beautiful on a clear day too.

Sanyangkeuneonggot on a Rainy Day in Jeju Island

From the entrance, Sanyangkeuneonggot's photo spots were waiting.
Actually, there's a dog named Jawal (자왈) that's usually here, but perhaps because of the rain, it wasn't around.
Nevertheless, Sanyangkeuneonggot on a rainy day is beautiful right from the entrance!

When we headed to West Jeju, there was a torrential downpour, so I actually had a lot of doubts.
But as soon as I entered Sanyangkeuneonggot, I thought a million times, 'It was so worth coming on a rainy day!'
You know that dreamy feeling of a forest on a rainy day, right?
And the walking paths are incredibly well-maintained, so we could walk without any trouble even with the rain!
However, for very young babies who are just starting to walk,
or elderly individuals who have difficulty walking, it's not recommended on a rainy day.
We recommend visiting on a clear or cloudy day instead.
The reason is that strollers and wheelchairs can get wet,
and it might be a bit difficult to get out and take photos.

Everywhere you look, the scenery of Sanyangkeuneonggot exudes the unique charm of Jeju Island.
With the rain, I felt that Jeju vibe even more.

Honestly, this was a slightly scary place to visit with a child.
With the steady rain and dim atmosphere, it was a photo spot where my child went down but quickly came back up. Haha.

Sanyangkeuneonggot seemed like it would be fun to visit during Halloween season,
and we talked about coming back in October,
and when we went inside, there were indeed lots of props that reminded me of Halloween!
But on a rainy day like today, it was quite spooky... haha.

Even just a swing in a forest path becomes a photo spot.
Since it was raining heavily, the swing was wet,
so we couldn't take candid shots, but it was great for photos on a nice day!

As you stroll along Sanyangkeuneonggot's forest path, a fairytale-like scene unfolds, making you wonder if dwarves might live here.
Personally, this was a place I absolutely fell in love with on a rainy day. (Honestly, everywhere is pretty on a nice day, right?)
Because of this, I lingered here for ages and only managed to visit one out of the two railway track spots. Waaah, haha!
On a clear day, sunlight streams through the trees, and you simply can't resist taking photos of that scenery either!

Are you traveling in West Jeju and it's raining?
Or have you planned your entire Jeju itinerary, but rain is in the forecast?
Then I highly recommend Sanyangkeuneonggot!
You can take a walk on a rainy day,
enjoy the mystical and emotional scenery,
and snap photos at the photo spots that appear around every corner!

The warm yellow light will guide your way through Sanyangkeununggot (산양큰엉곶).
Unless it's a spot where you have to go down like this,
the walking paths are well-maintained for strollers and wheelchairs!

I thought it was Halloween...
It was even scarier seeing it on a rainy day... going down further is even spookier haha.
I recommend not going down when it's raining.

Can you see my child looking scared? lol
I think Sanyangkeununggot would be fun to visit during Halloween too!

Charge: Being too beautiful.
The next day, I went back when the weather was clear. haha.
It's a fun photo spot.

The Forest Cafe
I thought it was just for photos, but it's actually operating!
They sell simple drinks.
If you've made it this far, you're halfway through Sanyangkeununggot.
Even if it rains, there are so many photo spots
that it might take a while, so plan for plenty of time
when you visit.
It varies from person to person, but for those who love taking beautiful photos,
I recommend allocating
about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours for Sanyangkeununggot.
If you love taking photos, keep this in mind when planning your trip to western Jeju (제주 서쪽).

Another great thing about Sanyangkeununggot is that it's a pet-friendly tourist destination!
My medium-sized dog had no problem joining.
Except for the fact that it was raining and I didn't put a raincoat on him, so he got completely soaked, sniff sniff T_T
Sanyangkeununggot on a nice day in Jeju (제주도)
Everywhere is beautiful on a nice day, but traveling in Jeju still makes my heart flutter even more! 🧡
Sanyangkeununggot shines even brighter thanks to the sunlight filtering through the tall trees.
Since it had rained the day before, it was a fresher and more pleasant trip than ever!
The fact that I visited Sanyangkeununggot two days in a row means it was really that good.
Being able to experience both the rainy day vibes and the clear weather vibes made it a very happy trip to western Jeju.
Let's take a photo journey together to see what Sanyangkeununggot feels like on a clear day :)

This is Jawal (자왈이), the dog who guards Sanyangkeununggot.
He wasn't there on the rainy day before, but with the good weather, he's at the entrance greeting visitors.

The light filtering through the trees illuminates Sanyangkeununggot.
Can you feel it?
The child's light footsteps and the refreshing air!
The photo spots at Sanyangkeununggot have atmospheric lighting, so be sure to use it when you take pictures!
You'll get even more beautiful photos.

Photo spots I just passed by on the rainy day, I revisited, sat down, and even took commemorative photos. lol
It was a relief that all the chairs, which I thought would still be wet from the rain, were completely dry.

This photo spot would have been even scarier if it had been a rainy day.
My child was scared, so we just quickly took a photo here and moved on to another spot.
Still, I definitely need to come back to this spot during Halloween season to take pictures.
It's a perfect match for Halloween!

We arrived at the Apple Tree House (사과나무집) photo spot, and right next to it is a swing.
For families traveling in Jeju with kids, this is a great place to persuade them to take photos by letting them ride the swing. lol
I also benefited from this swing!

The long-awaited Apple Tree House (사과나무집)!
Isn't it just so beautiful?
This is a fantastic photo spot at Sanyang Keun-eonggot (산양큰엉곶) where I uploaded photos to Instagram, and the response was absolutely amazing.
Personally, I found the Apple Tree House photo spot to be much better for pictures on a clear day than on a rainy one!
On a rainy day, I might try a Halloween concept for my photos. Hehehe.
Of course, I highly recommend the walking paths and other photo spots even when it's raining!
