2. The History of Saeyeongyo Bridge and Saeseom Island

Saeyeongyo Bridge opened in September 2009. It's a pedestrian bridge connecting Seogwipo Port to the small, uninhabited Saeseom Island, and its name means 'a bridge that creates new connections.' That's why many couples come here for romantic evening dates to admire Seogwipo's beautiful night views.

The bridge was designed, inspired by the 'Teu,' a traditional local boat. Its main tower soars high into the sky, and true to its reputation as a Jeju night view hotspot, this tower is beautifully illuminated in various colors every night.
Beyond its role as a bridge connecting islands, it's a must-visit spot in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, symbolizing local culture and offering breathtaking ocean scenery.

Saeseom Island, connected by the bridge,
used to feel a bit daunting to visit at night because it would get dark,
but recently, beautiful illuminated photo zones have been installed,
so now it shines brightly even after dark.

For a long time, it was a small uninhabited island
that people rarely visited, but with the bridge,
even local residents now enjoy outings along the 1.2km wooden deck
and the gentle walking paths.

As you take a light stroll around the small island,
you can enjoy panoramic views not only of Hallasan Mountain,
but also of Seopseom, Munseom, and Beomseom Islands.

The sound of birds chirping throughout your visit is incredibly therapeutic.

Now, it has become a famous spot for Jeju's night views
where you can even enjoy an evening stroll.
