Looking for an affordable ocean-view hotel in Jeju? Check out our honest review of Jeju Palace Hotel, a perfect base for car-free travelers near Dongmun Market.
Hey fellow travelers!
It's your favorite go-to explorer,
Global Explorer!
When you're planning a trip to Jeju Island,
you'll quickly realize there are so many gorgeous oceanfront stays
and budget-friendly options that it can feel
completely overwhelming to choose just one!
Jeju is actually much larger than most people think.
Many travelers divide their itinerary by regions—
East, West, and South.
If you pick a location that's too isolated,
you'll end up spending half your day in transit,
which can really drain your energy.
That's why I prioritized a central location and convenient transit routes
and booked my stay at the Jeju Palace Hotel.
Here is my detailed, honest review!

[Jeju Palace Hotel]
📍 Jeju Palace Hotel
9 Tapdong-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
📍 Check-in: 2:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM
📍 Free Wi-Fi

Jeju Palace Hotel is a comfortable 3-star property
located right by the scenic Tapdong waterfront.
It's only about a 10-minute drive from Jeju International Airport,
making it incredibly accessible right after you land.
✔ Dongmun Traditional Market: 10-minute walk
✔ Black Pork Street: 5-minute walk
✔ Tapdong Plaza Coastal Walk: 2-minute walk
With local markets, famous restaurants, and sea breezes
all within walking distance,
this is hands down one of the best bases
for car-free travelers exploring Jeju.
Room Types

Jeju Palace Hotel offers
Standard, Deluxe, and Ondol (traditional heated floor)
room configurations.
Prices vary depending on
whether you choose an Ocean View or a Mountain View.
We stayed in a Standard Twin Ocean View room
for 3 days and 2 nights.
Standard rooms are available starting from around ~$38 per night,
making this a top recommendation for budget-conscious travelers!
Checking In

One minor detail: there are steps at the main entrance,
so you'll have to lift your luggage up to the lobby.
If you're traveling with heavy bags,
just keep this in mind before you arrive!

The front desk staff were incredibly warm
and helpful during our check-in process.
While the building itself has a bit of history, the interior is
very well-maintained, clean, and retro-chic.
Time to take the elevator up to our room!
Standard Twin Ocean View Room

The moment we opened the door,
we were greeted by a beautiful view of the Jeju sea!
The price difference between the mountain view and ocean view is minimal,
so I highly recommend upgrading to the ocean view!
The room is cozy—about 213 square feet—
and features one double bed and one single bed.
While you can easily open your suitcases,
it does make the space feel a bit snug.
But since we were out exploring most of the day,
the size didn't bother us at all.

Super clean and neat, right?
I was slightly worried about noise since it's close to the harbor,
but we didn't hear a thing.
The beds were incredibly plush,
and we slept like babies every night. :)

There is also a convenient open closet space for hanging coats.

The bathroom was spotless!
Standard amenities provided include:
✔ Shampoo
✔ Body wash
✔ Soap
✔ Men's toner & lotion
The room also comes equipped with
a TV, mini-fridge, electric kettle, and all the essentials.
Bonus: They provide 2 complimentary bottles of water daily!

While it's not a completely unobstructed, open-ocean view,
getting this beautiful harbor view at this price point
is an absolute steal.

In the evening, we grabbed fresh sashimi and street food
from Dongmun Night Market and paired it with some local Soju in our room.
As the harbor lights flickered on outside our window,
the entire room transformed with a beautiful, cozy ambiance.
It may not be a trendy boutique design hotel,
but as a budget-friendly ocean-view stay,
it exceeded all expectations! :)

Why Else Did We Choose Jeju Palace Hotel?

We had planned a West Jeju Day Bus Tour,
so being close to the pickup location was a huge priority for us.
If you've researched Jeju bus tours, you know
there are only a few designated pickup locations in the city.
One of the main spots is in front of Boryong Pharmacy in Tapdong.
Jeju Palace Hotel is:
✔ Only a 2-minute walk to Tapdong Boryong Pharmacy!
No need to rush in the morning—
you can enjoy breakfast and stroll over casually. :)
