Planning a trip to Jeju Island with your parents?
It can feel a bit daunting to design an itinerary that keeps everyone happy.
You need a pace that is not too exhausting,
yet still packed with incredible sights and mouthwatering local food.
Here is a tried-and-tested multi-generational route that hits all the sweet spots.
Jeju After Work
Words & Photos by Gyoni Pick
Our home base for this trip was a cozy stay near Panpo Port.
Airport → Lunch → Cafe → Beach → Dinner
We designed this day to move naturally from the airport toward our accommodation, ensuring no wasted time in transit.
📍 Molaemul Babsang (Airport Branch)
📍 Molaemul Babsang (Airport Branch)
65 Dodu Hangseo-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

Located just minutes from the airport, this is the ultimate spot for your first meal. My mom declared this her absolute favorite restaurant of the entire 3-day trip!
While most visitors search for braised hairtail (galchi), this local gem specializes in braised rockfish (ureok-jorim).
We ordered the Large Set, which features both braised rockfish and a crispy fried rockfish tangsu. It was more than enough to satisfy our group of five hungry adults.
At around ~$79 for the entire feast, it is incredibly budget-friendly and a fantastic, stress-free start to a family trip.
👉 QUICK TIP:
They accept reservations by phone, so if you are traveling with a larger family, call ahead to secure a table.
📍 Mamarong
📍 Mamarong
1st Floor, 2783 Pyeonghwa-ro, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

No meal is complete without a sweet treat. My sibling picked this highly rated patisserie, which proudly boasts a Blue Ribbon Survey sticker (Korea's culinary guide).
The dessert selection was so vast we had a hard time choosing. While the prices are on the steeper side, the quality and taste are absolutely worth it.
📍 Geumneung Beach
📍 Geumneung Beach
Geumneung-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

With its shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft sand, Geumneung is a dream spot for family photos.
The gentle waves make it incredibly safe and accessible for older family members to walk close to the water or simply sit on the shore and soak in the view.
👉 QUICK TIP:
It is much quieter and less commercialized than neighboring Hyeopjae Beach, making it perfect for a peaceful family stroll.
📍 Badareul Bon Dwaeji (Hyeopjae Panpo Branch)
📍 Badareul Bon Dwaeji (Hyeopjae Panpo Branch)
1st Floor, 16 Panpo 1-gil, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

You cannot visit Jeju without trying the famous local black pork. We picked this spot because it was within walking distance of our accommodation, but it blew our expectations out of the water!
Located right on the waterfront, the restaurant opens its massive windows to let the sea breeze in. It felt like an upscale outdoor barbecue. This was my dad's absolute favorite spot!
The black pork was incredibly juicy, and the side dishes paired beautifully with the meat.
👉 QUICK TIP:
Time your arrival with the sunset for an absolutely magical dining experience.
Lunch → Songaksan Trail → Seogwipo Market → Takeout Dinner
A trip with parents isn't complete without a visit to a bustling traditional market. We dedicated our second day to exploring the southern coast of Seogwipo.
📍 Jeju Seonchaehyang (Main Branch)
📍 Jeju Seonchaehyang (Main Branch)
6 Sagyenam-ro 84beon-gil, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

This place is incredibly popular, so arriving right before opening (an "open run") is highly recommended to avoid massive lines.
We arrived about 15 minutes before opening, and there was already a crowd waiting. Luckily, we managed to get seated in the first round!
Both the abalone kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and the abalone porridge were incredibly rich and savory. It felt like eating a bowl of pure, restorative health. It's gentle on the stomach and the perfect brunch option for parents.
👉 QUICK TIP:
You can use the Tabling app to queue remotely. Also, their spicy squid side dish is phenomenal—make sure to pair it with the abalone porridge!
📍 Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market
📍 Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market
340 Seogwi-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

This was easily the busiest spot of our trip. We kept it simple: browsed the stalls, bought some souvenirs, and packed some delicious street food for dinner. My mom and I even got matching souvenir rings here!
📍 Songaksan Mountain Coastal Trail
📍 Songaksan Mountain Coastal Trail
245 Sangmo-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
The wooden boardwalk here has incredibly gentle slopes, making it a very comfortable walk for seniors.
Since you get panoramic ocean views the entire way, my parents were absolutely thrilled.
Even if you don't walk the entire loop, just parking and enjoying the view from the entrance is well worth the stop.
📍 Cozy Takeout Dinner

After a full day of walking and traveling, we decided to prioritize my parents' energy levels and had a cozy takeout feast at our accommodation.
We paired local fried chicken, ramen, and fresh sashimi for a perfect spread. Note: to keep the fish fresh, we bought the sashimi from a local market right before heading back, rather than carrying it all the way from Seogwipo.
📍 Hawker Center (Aewol)
📍 Hawker Center
25-2 Aewol-ro 11-gil, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

This restaurant is incredibly difficult to book, but absolutely worth the effort. After several attempts on previous trips, I finally scored a reservation!
They serve Southeast Asian cuisine adapted beautifully to the local palate, and my parents loved every bite. The Singaporean chili crab, cereal shrimp, and garlic rice were standout dishes.
📍 Handam Coastal Walk
📍 Handam Coastal Walk
1359 Gwakji-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

We headed here to walk off our lunch. It’s an easy, flat 20 to 30-minute walk right along the crashing waves.
We wrapped up our 3-day adventure sitting in a lovely ocean-view cafe, sipping coffee and looking back at our favorite moments.

Looking back at our trip, the absolute golden rule of traveling with parents is: **less is more**. Keeping the pace relaxed and leaving plenty of time for rest made all the difference.
Because we kept the driving distances short and picked restaurants with excellent food quality, my parents were comfortable, happy, and well-fed throughout the entire trip.
If you are planning a family getaway to Jeju soon, focusing on the beautiful west coast of Aewol and Hallim is a fantastic way to go!

We recommend the large set menu, which includes braised rockfish and sweet and sour rockfish. The price is ~$79, and the portion is large enough for five people. For large groups, it is advisable to make a reservation by phone in advance.
Since there is always a long waiting line, we recommend doing an 'open run' by arriving about 15 minutes before opening, or making an advance reservation through the Tabling app. Abalone kalguksu (noodle soup) and abalone porridge are great choices as their rich broth feels like a health food. It is especially recommended to eat the abalone porridge with salted squid.
Geumneung Beach has shallow waters and calm waves, making it easy for the elderly to get close to the sea or sit and relax without feeling burdened. It is also relatively quieter and less crowded than Hyeopjae Beach, making it more suitable if you want a peaceful atmosphere.
Hawker Center is very difficult to book, so you must complete an advance reservation before visiting. Although it is a Southeast Asian restaurant, it suits Korean tastes well, so parents can enjoy it too. The main menus include chili crab, cereal prawns, and garlic rice.
