Not long ago, my nieces, who just turned twenty, came to visit us.
They mostly explored on their own, but for one day, my husband and I joined them on their Jeju adventure.
For this particular Jeju Island itinerary, my two nieces planned everything themselves,
and my husband and I decided not to offer any opinions. I was genuinely curious to see Jeju through the eyes of young adults today.
When I first saw the itinerary they'd put together, I admit, my initial thought was, 'Why *there*? Really...?'
But in the end, it turned out to be incredibly enjoyable.
It was a day that allowed us to see our own familiar surroundings in a completely new light!
The itinerary my nieces crafted for us flowed from
Seongsan in the south, heading north towards Hamdeok.
Travel time between each spot was roughly 15-20 minutes by car, so there wasn't much wasted time on the road.

Our first stop on the trip was Umutgae Beach!
It's a small beach located at the foot of Seongsan Ilchulbong,
and its black sand beach is truly stunning.
My husband and I always make a point to visit this spot whenever we go to Seongsan Ilchulbong,
so it was surprising yet delightful that our nieces also loved it.
The main difference between us and them?
My nieces were incredibly busy taking 'proof shots' for their social media, haha!
They even took some photos of us, and we were genuinely surprised by how great they turned out!
Next, we visited Coco Mama Seongsan Branch, which was very close by.
This was a Seongsan eatery my nieces discovered themselves, and it offered a fantastic ocean view from the restaurant and the food was quite good too.
They even provided crab hats and claw gloves for fun photos,
allowing us to capture some adorable moments.
My husband and I couldn't quite bring ourselves to do it, so it was just the nieces, lol!
Samdalli Flower Garden is a recently opened garden on Jeju's East Coast.
We had only just heard about it ourselves, and coincidentally, our nieces wanted to go!
Perhaps because it's new,
the entire place was impeccably clean and well-maintained,
making it a truly wonderful spot for admiring flowers.
Currently, it's bursting with camellias, but I imagine it would be beautiful with crape myrtle in the summer.
The combination of the basalt stone walls and the camellias was so picturesque,
we took countless photos here.
My husband and I diligently worked as their official photographers and assistants, haha!
Our next destination was a cafe called Chahanmogum.
The cafe we originally planned to visit had closed early due to running out of ingredients,
so we had to quickly change our plans and ended up here.
Honestly, I found myself liking this place even more than our original choice.
It's a quiet, meticulously maintained cafe run by an elderly couple,
the kind of place we'd love to revisit on our own.
Warm drinks like the Cafe Latte and Matcha Latte were truly delicious,
and the grilled garaetteok we ordered for dessert was absolutely delicious.
Normally, we might have just had coffee, but thanks to my nieces,
we took our time and indulged in desserts, something we might not have done otherwise.
This was *our* suggestion to the nieces!
They wanted to buy some Jeju travel souvenirs, so we headed to Donghwa Village,
which is close to Chahanmogum and home to a large-scale souvenir shop.
Jesco Tourist Mart in Donghwa Village gathers a vast array of Jeju souvenirs,
making it an excellent place to visit when exploring Jeju's East Coast.
It's a place we always recommend to our friends and acquaintances!
Our nieces also picked up plenty of souvenirs here, haha!
Our final stop was Sukseongdo, located near Hamdeok Beach.
My nieces wanted to try Jeju's famous black pork, so we went there for dinner.
We mainly had the bone-in pork neck and pork belly, and the staff cooked everything for us from start to finish,
making it a truly relaxing meal.
The meat, of course, was delicious.
There were also many side dishes to accompany the pork, and the meal options, like the stir-fried hairtail fish gut rice and soybean paste stew with rice, were excellent too, making for a very satisfying meal.

Having gone through it ourselves, we found the itinerary my nieces planned was surprisingly efficient, offering plenty to see and do,
and we were extremely satisfied.
I might just let them plan our next family trip, haha!
