However, don't be surprised by its secluded location. With no other shops or buildings around, you might find yourself wondering, "Is there really a Spanish restaurant out here?" But trust me, that's part of its charm!

The restaurant is a beautifully remodeled old house, transformed into something truly exotic and reminiscent of a European mountain lodge. If I were a local on Jeju Island, this would be my go-to spot for a romantic date night!

During my visit, I came with a friend I'd met at a guesthouse, and we were seated at this lovely spot. From the intricate tiles to the perfectly placed potted plants, the owner's impeccable taste truly shines through.

While I couldn't capture photos of other areas because guests were dining, there was also a separate room like this! Each seating area is private, allowing for an intimate and undisturbed meal.

However, please note that currently, they accept only one reservation slot at a time. If having a specific seating arrangement is important to you, it's best to inquire with the restaurant directly when booking.

My Dinner Experience at Jeju Duende

Currently, Duende only offers a course menu (~$34). While the specific dishes I enjoyed might not be on the menu exactly as I had them, this review will give you a fantastic idea of Duende's culinary style and quality.

First up, we had the Bruschetta and Grilled Cabbage as appetizers!

The bruschetta had a delightful tapas feel to it. Toasted baguette topped with fresh tomatoes and onions created a savory umami burst that was perfectly crisp and clean – an excellent start to the meal : )

The grilled cabbage was incredibly savory and clean as well. I especially appreciated that the sauce wasn't overpowering, allowing the natural flavors to shine.

Next, we savored the Pulpo a la Gallega (Octopus)! Honestly, it was the most tender octopus dish I've ever had.

Given that Duende's current course menu is predominantly seafood-focused, the quality of this octopus dish alone assures me that their seafood creations are absolutely trustworthy and delicious.

The Pork Cheek Steak was also quite good. While the octopus (Pulpo) was more my personal preference, the melt-in-your-mouth mashed potatoes served beneath the steak ensured it wasn't heavy or dry.

Of course, I haven't personally experienced the *current* course menu as of 2026, but based on Duende's culinary expertise, I'm confident that a visit here will be an unforgettable one.

Seogwipo, Jeju Island, is certainly home to many fantastic restaurants. However, Duende stands out as one of the best Spanish restaurants I've experienced anywhere in South Korea, which is why I absolutely had to share it with you.
