I kept hearing that it's a beloved spot not just for global explorers like us,
but also for local residents, so I had to go see what the buzz was all about!

After exploring Udo Island, we made our way to
Jeju Ildo Seogwipo Seongsan Branch,
which was perfectly close to Seongsan Port.

this restaurant even offers complimentary pickup service

I discovered just how famous this place is – lots of celebrities visit here!
Ivy came,
and so did model Lee Hyun-yi.
Seating

The interior is incredibly spacious and clean,
with plenty of room between tables.
There were over 30 seats,
making for a very pleasant dining experience.
We arrived around 5 PM,
and more and more customers kept pouring in!

For our group of 4 adults and 2 children,
we comfortably settled into two tables.
Menu
Black Trouble 2-person Set
Modakchigi 2-person Set
Black Pork Geun-gogi 2-3 person Set
Black Pork Geun-gogi 3-4 person Set
Additional à la carte items: Pork Jowl, Black Pork Neck
Black Pork Belly, Black Pork Sirloin Cap
and more!

Prickly Pear Mul Naengmyeon (Cold Buckwheat Noodles),
Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodles), and a Kids Set are also available.
Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew)
Gobeullak Jjigae (Gobeullak Stew)
and they even have a receipt review event.

The side dishes come in a delightful variety,
with a wide selection of sauces.
You'll find perilla chili sauce, mugwort wasabi,
carrot kimchi, salted hairtail guts, and Maldon salt, among others.
It's so much fun to mix and match
and explore all the different flavor combinations!

The vegetable sauce was a yuzu sauce, so it was so refreshing and
had a wonderfully unique flavor!
Food

We ordered 300g of Black Pork Belly + 300g of Black Pork Neck,
priced at ~$51.
At Jejuildo Seogwipo Seongsan branch,
they exclusively use Hongdoyaeji pork, a special 'red pig' breed.
The purebred black pork
is raised directly at their own farm in Hallim-eup, Jeju,
which makes it truly special.

It was plump and
the meat quality was excellent.

You can even spot some of the characteristic black hairs, a true sign of authentic black pork!
The staff continually grilled the meat over charcoal for us,
and they were so friendly!

Inside the foil, there was Jeju-grown bracken fern,
which we grilled together
and ate with the meat.
There was also pork rind,
which was chewy, juicy,
and had a satisfying bite due to its thickness.
It tasted fantastic!
They called it Jeju 'meljeot',
an anchovy sauce we dipped the meat into.
It wasn't too fishy at all,
and its salty kick made the meal even more delicious!
Self-Serve Bar
One of the best things was the self-serve bar,
where you could refill on all the vegetables, side dishes, and lettuce.
If you write a four-line poem (사행시) or a Naver receipt review,
and pay via cash transfer, you get a box of Jeju tangerine crunches
as a complimentary gift!

Water aging,
dry aging,
and wet aging – they use all three aging methods
to fully enhance
the meat's flavor and texture.
They really maximize it!
That's why it's so chewy and...
The meat was incredibly juicy!

Then there was the Gobullak Jjigae,
a stew featuring Jeju's abundant
horse prawns (ttaksaeu),
along with mussels and other seafood.
It was a wonderfully refreshing and savory stew!

And then there was the unique
Baeknyeoncho Mul Naengmyeon (Water Cold Noodles with Cactus)
and Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Mixed Cold Noodles).
Baeknyeoncho is a type of cactus grown on Jeju Island,
and they use it
to make these special noodles.
They reminded me a bit of Jjolmyeon (chewy noodles),
but with a truly unique flavor I'd never experienced before!

The Baeknyeoncho Bibim Naengmyeon had a delightful tangy and chewy texture!

The Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew) here was on the slightly sweeter side.
Inside, the restaurant offers a mix of seating,
from larger tables perfect for groups to cozy smaller ones,
making it suitable for families, friends,
or any size party.
And a thoughtful touch: each table has
its own ventilation system, which means
you can enjoy grilling with charcoal
without worrying too much about the smell clinging to your clothes!
As it's a popular spot,
expect a wait during peak hours, usually between 6 PM and 8 PM.
If you plan to visit then,
it's best to arrive a bit early
or be prepared for a short wait to keep things relaxed.
If you combine your visit here with an itinerary including
Aqua Planet Jeju
and Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone,
your travel will be much smoother!
If you're wondering where to enjoy a fantastic Black Pork meal in Seongsan,
this place is a great choice with its convenient location and easy parking.
They even pay attention to the aging process,
which means your chances of a truly delicious meal are very high.
It's also a fantastic restaurant to visit with parents and kids alike!
