Donhyanggi Jeju: Unforgettable Black Pork BBQ by Dongmun Market

Exploring Jeju Island and craving an authentic culinary adventure? You absolutely have to try Jeju's famous Black Pork! Near the bustling Dongmun Market, you'll find a lively "Black Pork Street" filled with amazing BBQ joints. Today, I'm sharing my honest, self-funded review of a fantastic spot we discovered there:

We stumbled upon the Black Pork Street, conveniently located just a short walk from Dongmun Market. It's a vibrant area, and as you might guess, nearly every restaurant specializes in this local delicacy.

Many places had staff outside inviting diners in, but Donhyanggi caught our eye as the most promising option, so we decided to give it a try!

While we walked, it's good to know that parking is also available if you're driving.

Donhyanggi offers a variety of menu options, from individual cuts to various Black Pork sets. You can even find sets that combine Black Pork with abalone or squid!

For two of us, we opted for the basic 2-person Black Pork set. The price for this fantastic spread was around ~$29.

I can't recall the exact cents, but it was definitely excellent value for money!

The set even includes a stew and a post-meal cold noodle dish, so if you're planning a visit, I highly recommend ordering one of their comprehensive set menus!

Our set came with an array of delicious side dishes, including a flavorful stew, seasoned green onion salad, steamed egg, and a fresh salad.

Just look at that beautiful Black Pork belly! 🥹 The Black Pork itself was absolutely divine!

The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, with that perfect chewiness. My friend and I kept exclaiming "This is SO good!" with every bite. It was truly a memorable meal.

We wanted to eat more, but we had plans to sample other treats at Dongmun Market, so we held back on ordering extra portions.

After finishing the glorious BBQ, it was time for the complimentary cold noodles!

You can choose between mul-naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) or bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles), so we got one of each.

Since they were included in the set, I didn't have super high expectations, and they were pretty standard for BBQ restaurant cold noodles – nothing to write home about, but a refreshing finish! 😉

They also offered a cute Black Pork acrylic tong as a review event gift. It looked adorable, but we were too full and satisfied to participate! 😅

The restaurant interior is quite spacious, making it a comfortable spot for families traveling with children or elderly members. It's great for a relaxed meal.

Donhyanggi: My Honest Verdict

Jeju's Black Pork Street is a popular spot for tourists, so I didn't go in with sky-high expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great Black Pork BBQ restaurant offering excellent value!

The staff were friendly, and the quality of the meat was top-notch. If you're planning to be near Dongmun Market, I absolutely recommend checking out Donhyanggi for a delicious and authentic Jeju Black Pork experience!
