Looking for a thrilling activity in Jeju?
981Park Jeju (981파크 제주) is
Korea's first non-powered kart racing where you race
using only gravity, without an accelerator pedal!!!
In this post, I'll cover everything from an introduction to the karts,
prices, operating hours, a review of the Sunset Racing experience,
and even cost-effective tickets.

1. What is 981Park Jeju?

It's an activity perfectly suited for eco-friendly Jeju (제주).
There's no engine, no accelerator pedal.
It's Korea's first non-powered kart racing that runs
solely on gravitational acceleration.
📌 Top Speed: Up to 40km/h for a single-seater
📌 Pedals: Only a brake, no accelerator
📌 Scenery: You can see all the way to Biyangdo (비양도) from the track
Since there's no accelerator pedal,
you control your speed with the brake.
While you'll naturally pick up speed on downhill sections,
you need to brake appropriately on curves!
📖 Story of the Place |
9.81 is named after gravitational acceleration (9.81m/s²). As you descend, you'll enjoy downhill racing with views of the Jeju sea, and on the way up, you can leisurely enjoy the uphill journey with automatic return, facing Hallasan (한라산). |
The vehicles are our own technologically developed
GR (Gravity Racer) karts.
You can fully enjoy the racing experience
on tracks designed with banking and curves.
🎧 How to Experience |
Install the 9.81 PARK APP and link your ticket to your account before riding. You can check your racing records, high-definition ride videos, licenses, and even battles all within the app. |
※ Outdoor activities may be
temporarily suspended or ended early due to bad weather conditions.

Prices, Operating Hours, and Usage Conditions
📌 Location:
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (제주특별자치도) Jeju City (제주시) Aewol-eup (애월읍) Cheondeok-ro (천덕로) 880-24
📍 9.81Park Jeju

📌 Operating Hours: 09:00~18:00
📌 Last Entry: 17:40 (based on check-in)
📌 Dress Code: Closed-toe, flat shoes

The 981Park Jeju karts are
divided into 3 types of vehicles (GR-E, GR-D, GR-X) and
4 types of courses.
Including the Junior GR-D for children,
there are a total of 4 usage types.
Vehicle | Course / Speed | Driving Conditions |
GR-E (1-seater) | Course 1·2 / 40km/h | Ages 14+, 150~190cm |
GR-D (2-seater) | Course 3 / 35km/h | Ages 14+, 150~190cm |
Junior GR-D (2-seater) | Course 3 / 35km/h | 140cm+, Grade 4 to Age 18 |
GR-X (1-seater) | X Course / 60km/h | Ages 19+, Master License |
📌 GR-D Passenger: Must be 100cm or taller.
If there is a passenger, the driver must be an adult guardian aged 19 or older.
📌 Junior GR-D Passenger: Must be an adult guardian aged 19 or older.
📌 Children between 100cm and 150cm tall
must be accompanied by a guardian.
On-site, I saw children enjoying the 2-seater karts
together with their parents.
It seems like a great option for families who want to enjoy
Jeju activities with their children! 😆
However, since the riding conditions vary
depending on the child's height and age, please make sure to check before booking!

📌 Course Difficulty:
Course 3 Beginner, Course 1 Intermediate
Course 2 Upper-Intermediate, X Course Advanced
Course 3 has a 'Shout Game' mission.
Right after starting, if you shout loudly until 'BOOSTER' appears on the screen,
you'll get an initial acceleration boost! 😆

Make sure to check the safety rules.
📌 Selfie sticks are prohibited during driving and return.
📌 Keep seatbelts fastened until dismounting.
📌 Do not stop on the track.
If unavoidable, pull over to the side and call a safety officer.
📌 If you drop personal belongings,
do not pick them up yourself; call a safety officer.
Here's the price for a 3-ride Sunset Racing ticket.
I purchased mine with a discount from the official website.
Product | Original Price | Discount Price |
Sunset Racing 3 Rides | ₩66,000 (~$50) | ₩44,500 (~$34) |
※ Operating information and course/booster conditions may change.
3. Sunset Racing Experience Review
I enjoyed three rides of the Sunset Racing.
📌 Configuration: Course 1 → Course 1 → Course 2 order
📌 Boarding: Must be completed within 1 hour of your reservation time
📌 Reservation/Arrival: Reserved for Oct 16:20, arrived at 16:45
📌 Duration: Approximately 40 minutes for 3 rides (stay approx. 1 hour)
📌 Master License: Can only be challenged on Course 2

Course 1 (Intermediate)
offers a unique starting experience, smooth cornering,
and a thrilling banked curve at the end.
Course 2 (Upper-Intermediate)
dramatically changes in speed and record depending on your skill level.
Intense focus from start to finish!!!
The setup is designed for you to get the hang of it on Course 1,
then challenge for a Master License on Course 2.

Especially after finishing Course 2,
your record and ranking appear on the scoreboard.
Seeing your ranking instantly makes you feel like you're in a
real racing competition!!!
It unexpectedly brought out my competitive spirit,
and it was incredibly fun 😆

It wasn't difficult even without a driver's license.
At first, it felt a little slow and frustrating...
But once I got acceleration on the downhill,
I really felt the speed!!!
I booked the 16:20 slot in October, but
arrived late at 16:45...
But thankfully, I was able to ride without any issues 😅
However, arriving late might lead
to restrictions on use, so
I recommend arriving on time for your reservation!
Racing while watching the sunset made
the evening in Jeju (제주) truly beautiful.
📌 Jeju Sunset in November:
Early month approx. 17:42, Late month approx. 17:26
The sun sets earlier in November than in October.
If you want to race while watching the sunset,
book with plenty of time before the sunset and
arrive punctually!

On my second ride,
I got greedy and crashed...
Because of that, my driving video
wasn't saved 😭
Give me back my video...
It's such a shame!
💡 Heeheehohi's (히히호히) Travel Tip |
My video wasn't saved after I crashed on my second ride. If you want to keep your video, don't push too hard for speed; brake appropriately and drive safely! |

There's only one regret:
after riding three times, I finally got the hang of it
and felt like I could do even better, but
then it was over...
It does feel a little expensive. 😒
But it was so much fun that it was worth every penny!!!
4. 981 Park (981파크) Tickets: I recommend this product

Sunset Racing was great, but the
Full Package Adult Ticket seems to offer even better value.
I personally only experienced the Sunset Racing.
The Full Package is a product I recommend after comparing
its price and contents.
Three Sunset Races cost ₩44,500 (~$34), while
the Full Package is ₩54,500 (~$41).
For just a ₩10,000 (~$8) difference, you can enjoy indoor sports too.
Full Package Contents | Details |
3 Races | Order: Course 3 → Course 1 → Course 2, boarding within 1 hour of reservation time |
Lab 981 Sports Lab (랩981 스포츠랩) 3 Sessions | Sports, Shooting, Arcade Game Zone |
