It wasn't anywhere to be found above ground!

As a Gyeonggi-do resident, I needed to catch an intercity bus. I confidently headed outside, just following the map, and almost missed my bus!

Turns out, to catch a bus in Jamsil, you have to go to the Jamsil Bus Transfer Center.

In today's post, I'll guide you through finding the Jamsil Bus Transfer Center, including its location, how to get there, available bus routes, and even the gate locations!

It's underground, so you might wander a bit at first, but once you know the spot, it's directly connected to Jamsil Station, making it a breeze from your second visit onwards.

The Jamsil Bus Transfer Center is directly connected to Jamsil Station's B1 level, and it's Korea's first underground bus transfer center. It's a must-know spot for anyone coming to Jamsil from Gyeonggi-do, who needs to catch an intercity bus to head back home.

Many people, just like me, follow the map, come out above ground,

and then can't find their bus. There are so many of us!

Above ground, you'll only find bus stops for alighting (getting off), while most intercity buses heading towards Gyeonggi-do depart from underground.

1. Where is the Jamsil Bus Transfer Center located?

The Jamsil Bus Transfer Center is located underground along Songpa-daero, under the Seokchon Lake Bridge section near Jamsil Station.

It's horizontally connected to Jamsil Station's Line 2 and Line 8 gates on B1 level.

Since there are only Seoul city bus 'alighting' stops above ground, it's easy to get lost if you come up to street level trying to catch a Gyeonggi-do bound bus.

This time, after hanging out near Lotte World Tower, I also came up to ground level, and was flustered when I couldn't find the intercity bus stop.

Eventually, I had to go back underground to catch my bus.

2. How to get to Jamsil Bus Transfer Center underground from Lotte World Mall

As I mentioned before, the Jamsil Bus Transfer Center is underground.

So, when you're coming from Lotte World Mall,

the key is to head underground.

The fastest way from Lotte World Mall is to aim for the 'Hanjeongseon' and 'Arc'teryx' stores.

These stores are near the direction of the Transfer Center.

Let's start from the 1st floor Uniqlo, a spot most people pass through.

1. 1F Uniqlo → B1 Level

Take the escalator down to B1 level from in front of Uniqlo.

2. Aquarium → Towards Hanjeongseon

Follow along Lotte World Aquarium past Teddy Bär House, and as you head towards Hanjeongseon, you'll see a sign on the ceiling.

3. Follow the signs straight ahead

Just keep following the signs straight. After passing the Saeteo, Arc'teryx, and Hoka stores, you'll see a Chanel Cosmetics store on your right.

4. At the fork in front of Chanel, turn left (11 o'clock direction)

Here, you'll reach a fork; continue straight to the left, in the 11 o'clock direction.

5. Follow the pillar sign straight → Pass through the door

Follow the signs on the pillar that read 'Lotte World Adventure / Jamsil Station Line 2 / Jamsil Bus Transfer Center'. Keep going straight in that direction, and you'll see a door. Once you pass through that door, you'll be in the heart of the subway station and the Transfer Center.

6. Turn Left Towards Samjin Bakery

From here, head left towards Samjin Bakery,

and you'll spot the Jamsil Transfer Center!

🚨 Hot Travel Tip Here!

Even if the path seems a bit tricky, you won't get lost if you just remember the stores in this order: 'Hanjeongseon → Arc'teryx → Chanel → Samjin Bakery'.

Lotte World Mall is incredibly vast, so using store names as your landmarks is absolutely the most reliable way to navigate.

If you've already made your way to the ground level,

you'll just need to find the entrance to the underground passage.

You'll find an underground exit near Seokchon Lake, specifically around Lotte Hotel and Lotte World Mall.

Head down through that exit, and you'll easily find the bus stops.

3. Gyeonggi Express Buses Available at Jamsil Transfer Center

At Jamsil Transfer Center, destinations are divided by GATE numbers.

However, the gates aren't arranged in consecutive numerical order;

they're split into two directions. Knowing this alone will save you a lot of wandering!

When you enter the platform, you'll see the information displayed above the doors like this:

Left Direction (Seokchon Lake East Lake·Exit 2-2): GATE 1~6, 19~31

Right Direction (Seokchon Lake West Lake·Exit 2-3): GATE 7~18

🚨 Another Pro Travel Tip!

Once you've checked your gate number based on your bus number,

just remember if that gate is on the left (1~6, 19~31)

or on the right (7~18).

I needed to take the M5333 bus to Anyang,

so I headed towards GATE 8, which is in the right direction towards Seokchon Lake West Lake.

Here's a quick breakdown of the gates by direction:

✔️ Hanam, Namyangju, Anyang Directions: GATE 1~8 (These have the most routes!)

✔️ Guri Direction: GATE 9 (Agricultural & Fishery Products Market), 25 (Galmae District)

I also checked how many minutes were left until the M5333 arrived

by looking at the display board while I waited,

and it was so convenient to just stand in line corresponding to the bus number.

For queues, you'll see numbered lines drawn on the floor in front of each gate,

so just refer to those and form your line.

4. Tips to Avoid Confusing Turnstiles with Gate Locations

Once you've confirmed your gate number, here's how to actually find it. As I mentioned before, the gates are split into two directions.

Look above the entrance to the platform, and you'll see this written:

Left (←): GATE 1~6, 19~31 /

Exit 2-2 Seokchon Lake East

Right (→): GATE 7~18 /

Exit 2-3 Seokchon Lake West

So, here's the order you should follow:

1. Check your gate number using your bus number (via app or information board).

2. If your number is 1~6/19~31, go left; if it's 7~18, go right.

3. Head in the indicated direction and find your gate number.

4. Check the arrival time on the electronic display above the gate, then wait.

Q. Is the Jamsil Transit Center above ground or underground?

It's underground. Above ground, there are only Seoul city bus drop-off stops. To catch an intercity bus heading towards Gyeonggi Province, you need to go down to the underground transit center.

Q. How long does it take to get from Lotte World Mall to the Transit Center?

Lotte World Mall is incredibly vast, so it depends on which store you're in front of, but it usually takes about 10 minutes on foot.

If you go to B1 (Basement 1), you'll find direct connections to Jamsil Station and the bus stops, so you can travel comfortably and coolly, even if it's raining or hot.

Q. How do I confirm which gate my bus departs from?

When I searched on Naver Maps or Kakao Map, it didn't show up clearly. So, I only found out once I arrived on site.
