My India eSIM Experience
For my latest adventure through India, I once again opted for the sheer convenience of an eSIM. Honestly, I can't imagine going back to physical SIM cards for international travel anymore! Just like my previous trips, I activated it the moment my plane landed and had instant connectivity without any hiccups or disruptions. It truly makes arrival in a new country so much smoother.

The process for using an India eSIM is incredibly straightforward: purchase, install, and activate. While there are several platforms available, the general method is quite similar, so I'll explain it using the platform I personally used.

Simply click on one of the links above, select your desired travel duration, choose how many gigabytes of data you'll need, and complete your reservation. Once purchased, you'll receive a voucher containing a QR code, which you'll use for installation.
The installation process varies slightly between iPhones and Android phones, but the overall flow is very similar.

For Android users (specifically Samsung Galaxy, as shown in the images), you'll navigate to your settings, then follow these steps: Add eSIM > Scan QR code. You can either scan the QR code directly from the chat message or select a screenshot from your gallery.
After installation, simply keep the eSIM turned off until you arrive at your destination. Once you land, just switch it on, and you're good to go! I especially love that you can start using it even while waiting to disembark the plane – it's a great way to pass the time.

If budget isn't a concern, opting for an unlimited India eSIM plan definitely offers peace of mind. You won't have to worry about losing internet connectivity unexpectedly while abroad. However, in reality, most travelers don't actually use that much data, especially since most accommodations offer Wi-Fi.
I typically choose a plan with around 2 gigabytes (GB) of data. If I anticipate needing more, I'll upgrade to a 3 GB plan.

On this particular trip, I was using two phones, so I selected the '1 GB high-speed data daily, then unlimited at reduced speed' option for one. My other phone had a 2 GB India eSIM. While the reduced-speed unlimited data might sound appealing, in practice, it's often so slow that it's barely usable. It's best not to rely on it and consider it as essentially no data at all.

Connectivity in major tourist attractions and accommodations is generally excellent. The only potential concern might be in very remote areas or deep mountain valleys, but honestly, most travelers in India won't find themselves in such secluded spots.

Even in areas slightly outside the city center, like where this Buddha statue is located, I had no issues with connectivity. The same goes for the various forts and palaces I visited. That's why I highly recommend an India eSIM!

Whether it was wrapping up a day of sightseeing or enjoying a drink at a local pub near my accommodation, the eSIM provided consistent and reliable service throughout my trip.

If you ask me if I recommend an India eSIM, my answer is a resounding yes! The convenience factor alone makes it impossible for me to go back to traditional SIM cards. Plus, once you've gone through the installation and usage process once, it's incredibly simple for future trips.
If an India travel eSIM is on your radar, make sure to prepare this essential item in advance for a smooth and connected journey.
When you purchase an eSIM from Klook, you'll receive a voucher and a QR code. On a Galaxy phone, you can install it by going to the 'Add eSIM' menu and scanning the QR code. Once activated after arriving locally, it's ready for immediate use.
This option switches to unlimited at low speed once the daily 1GB is fully used. However, the author mentions that this low-speed unlimited data is so severely slow that it's practically difficult to use.
Yes, according to the article, the India eSIM worked well even in tourist attractions like Buddha sites, forts, and palaces located outside the city center. It was also usable without issues at a pub near the accommodation.
The article mentions Klook and KKDAY platforms for purchasing India eSIMs. You can browse and book India eSIMs on these two sites.
