Whether traveling domestically or heading abroad,
I always try to save on accommodation so I can spend
as much as possible on experiences and amazing food.
To keep lodging costs down without sacrificing comfort,
I often turn to reliable global hotel chains.
During my last trip to Seoul, I was hunting for a budget-friendly hotel
close to subway stations and main attractions, and
I stumbled upon this absolute gem.
Let me introduce you to the ibis Ambassador Seoul Insadong—
the perfect hotel that checks all the boxes for location, price, and convenience.
1. ibis Ambassador Seoul Insadong

ibis Ambassador Seoul Insadong Check-in: 14:00 Check-out: 12:00 *During the renovation period from February to April, check-in is scheduled for 15:00 and check-out for 11:00. |
The ibis hotel group is a well-known global chain.
Because these properties are designed to be highly affordable while
occupying prime spots in major cities,
they are fantastic options for budget-conscious travelers.

Booking Site | Price Comparison (Based on a 1-night stay in a Double Room on June 18) |
Agoda | ~$75 |
Trip.com | ~$76 |
MyRealTrip | ~$75 |
If you book about three months in advance for a weekday stay,
you can snag a room for around ~$70.
Prices can vary depending on your travel dates, so
I highly recommend comparing rates before making a reservation!

2. The Lobby

There is a mechanical parking garage on-site, but
please note that additional parking fees apply.

In the lobby, you'll find a PC available for printing and
a luggage scale to weigh your bags.
Having a scale is super handy, especially if you're staying here
right before heading out on an international flight!

Breakfast is served every morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
and can be enjoyed at the first-floor restaurant.
Prices have recently gone up a bit, making it about ~$13 per person.

As far as budget chain hotels go,
I've always found ibis properties to be incredibly clean and modern.
I've stayed at an ibis in Paris before, and this location delivered
that same great mix of style, comfort, and value.

Since this hotel is located right in the heart of a major tourist area,
they actually had a tourist map designed just for travelers!
Since I don't usually stay overnight near tourist spots in my own country,
I found this little touch really neat and thoughtful.
3. Inside Room 407: The 4th Floor Double Room

The guest rooms occupy the 2nd through 10th floors,
and I was assigned a double room on the 4th floor.

The hallways have that classic, clean business hotel vibe.
The photo on the right shows the twin room. The room actually had
a surprising amount of breathing room!

I stayed in Double Room 407.

The room features a cozy bed right in the center,
along with a small table and chair on one side,
making it super convenient for grabbing a quick bite or catching up on some work.

I loved that there were outlets everywhere—
on both sides of the bed and above and below the table.
Even with all my gear—laptop, phone, wireless earbuds—
charging everything at once was a breeze!

There's also a compact clothes rack right next to the table.
The layout did a fantastic job of maximizing space,
fitting in everything you could possibly need without feeling cramped.

However, the shower booth was on the smaller side.
It had a unique angled layout that reminded me
of the compact bathrooms in Paris, which was a fun little throwback!
4. Amenities

As for the basic amenities, they provided an electric kettle, cups,
and a selection of instant coffee and sugar.

In the bathroom, you'll find rinsing cups and four clean towels.
If I remember correctly, single-use toiletries (like toothbrushes)
aren't provided, so I highly recommend bringing your own!
5. Final Thoughts
All in all, the ibis Ambassador Seoul Insadong
ticked all the boxes with its amazing location, clean rooms,
and great value. It was a truly satisfying stay!
Prices can jump quite a bit if you don't book ahead,
so I recommend securing your spot at least three months in advance.
Be sure to compare rates and lock in your stay!
