I want to share a place I wholeheartedly recommend as a must-visit spot and sunset haven in Hallim, Jeju:

where I introduced it as a fantastic sunset spot in Jeju,
and even briefly in a recent review of a Hallim accommodation.
But this time, I want to dedicate an entire post to Hyeopjae Port,
to delve into more detail.

Hyeopjae Port is incredibly close to Hyeopjae Beach,
making it perfect for a leisurely walk from the beach.
(Approximately an 8-minute walk from Hyeopjae Beach)
Unlike the lively atmosphere of Hyeopjae Beach,
if you venture just a little towards the port,
you'll discover a peaceful, calm ambiance,
as if time itself has slowed down.
As you travel around Jeju's west side,
beyond the well-known beaches and tourist attractions,
you'll naturally discover serene spots
that are perfect for a quiet, relaxing stay.
Perhaps that's why when you search for things to do in Hyeopjae, Jeju,
most results will point you to Hyeopjae Beach or Geumneung Beach,
and there isn't much information yet
about Hyeopjae Port.
But if you go there yourself,
you'll be enchanted by its distinct vibe and atmosphere,
to the point where you'll want to keep it as your own 'secret travel spot.'
It truly feels like such a captivating place.
You'll feel the everyday charm of a fishing village,
and the calm sea makes it a wonderful place to linger.
Best of all, the fact that it's not crowded with tourists
felt like its biggest appeal.
For these reasons, whether you're traveling solo,
or simply seeking a peaceful respite from a busy itinerary,
it's an especially perfect spot among things to do in Hallim, Jeju.
I first discovered Hyeopjae Port several years ago,
by chance during a solo trip to Jeju.
The sunset I witnessed that day was so incredibly memorable
that I thought, 'I absolutely must bring my mom here next time!'
And when I actually revisited it with my mom,
she loved the moment so much
that even now, she often talks about it.
Hyeopjae Port: A Sunset Paradise on Jeju's West Side
Above all, this place is
a magical vantage point where the Biyangdo Island view truly comes to life.
If you stand there just as the sun begins to set,
Biyangdo Island floats like a silhouette on the sea,
and the sight of the sun slowly descending behind it
is nothing short of breathtaking and utterly magical!
It's like stepping into a movie scene,
where you'll encounter a truly beautiful landscape.
These are sunset photos of Hyeopjae Port taken on different days,
and you can really see how the atmosphere changes
depending on the kind of sunset that unfolds in the sky, right?
Jeju's west side boasts many famous spots for sunsets,
but you know how it is – the trendier places can get a bit hectic
with tourists flocking in as the sun dips.
In contrast, Hyeopjae Port is usually less crowded,
making it the perfect tranquil spot to pause and soak in the sunset.
That’s why, for me personally,
it remains one of the most beautiful memories among all the
sunset spots on Jeju's west side.
I’d call it a hidden gem in Jeju,
perfect for quietly gazing at the sea
and slowly winding down a day of travel.
A Different Charm from Hyeopjae Beach:
Must-Visit Hyeopjae in Jeju
Many of you might be wondering, "What's the difference from Hyeopjae Beach?"
If the sunset from Hyeopjae Beach offers
an expansive, refreshing panorama,
the sunset at Hyeopjae Port feels a bit more serene
and profound.
The unique tranquility of the port, the gentle lapping waves,
and the distant silhouette of Biyangdo Island all combine to create
a calm, distinct sunset atmosphere
only found on Jeju's west coast.
Even when you take photos, the breakwater, fishing boats,
and the unique structures of the port all blend together,
creating a completely different vibe from the beach.
So, if you’ve explored Hyeopjae Beach and are looking for
a slightly more secluded spot,
I highly recommend visiting Hyeopjae Port
as a complementary must-visit destination in Jeju's Hyeopjae area!

Based on My Personal Visit
1. While there isn't a dedicated official parking lot,
there's a relatively spacious open area around the port,
making parking convenient.
(It's generally uncrowded even during sunset hours.)
2. Always be prepared for the wind by the Jeju sea.
Evenings in spring and autumn can be quite chilly,
so I highly recommend bringing a jacket.
3. If you want to fully appreciate the sunset,
I suggest arriving about 30 minutes before it sets to
slowly watch the sky and sea transform!
