After a day at stunning Hyeopjae Beach, refuel at Hyeopjae Onttukbaegi, a beloved local spot. Their spicy and savory haejangguk is the ultimate comfort food in Jeju!

Hello everyone~ I visited **Jeju Hyeopjae Onttukbaegi**!
That day, I was worried all day about whether a typhoon would come or not.
But as if nothing happened, the weather turned out to be so bright and clear!
I was planning to go to the beach with my unnie (older sister/friend) for a change of pace, but something suddenly came up. So, I decided to head to Hyeopjae Beach by myself first to see the ocean.
Later, I had dinner with my unnie and a friend!
After enjoying the emerald sea at Hyeopjae Beach and having a blast, I headed to a place located within walking distance.

I'll honestly introduce you to **Hyeopjae Onttukbaegi**, a widely acclaimed **Haejangguk restaurant near Jeju's Hyeopjae Beach**, recommended by both locals and travelers!

The interior of the restaurant was incredibly clean, and it seemed like the owner paid a lot of attention to it!
I also saw teams who seemed to have stopped by for a quick meal after work, and they offered takeout too!! This place is definitely a hidden gem,,!

Main dishes such as *Jeju Hyeopjae Sea Snail Haejangguk, Spicy and Rich Abalone Soft Tofu Stew, Jeju Black Pork Bulgogi, Hanwoo Ox Blood Haejangguk, and Abalone Dried Pollack Soup* are available, making my mouth water...
Unfortunately, **Kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup) is a summer seasonal menu item** ㅜㅜ
So, if you love Kongguksu, I highly recommend visiting in the summer.
📍 Walking Distance from Hyeopjae Beach
A restaurant with superb accessibility
Located just a **5-minute walk from Hyeopjae Beach**!
It's the perfect route to walk straight to after a fun time at the beach, making it ideal for those looking for a great restaurant in Hyeopjae!
Since it's right near the beach, it's super easy to find, even if you're bad with directions.

Introducing the dishes we tried :)
🍲 A deep and savory broth that truly soothes your stomach,
Jeju Hyupjae Sea Snail Haejangguk

The first dish we tasted, the Jeju Hyupjae Sea Snail Haejangguk,
boasted the rich, unique savoriness of sea snails.
You know how sea snails can sometimes be a bit bitter?!
But this one had none of that!
It was deep and clean, with absolutely no trace of a fishy smell,
and I felt my previously heavy stomach instantly relieved.
For those who had a drink the night before or simply crave a clean and comforting meal to settle their stomach,
it's undeniably a main dish I'd highly recommend as Hallym's must-try Haejangguk.
🌶️ The perfect harmony of spicy kick and chewy texture,
Spicy Abalone Soft Tofu Stew

Next up was the Spicy Abalone Soft Tofu Stew, which featured a spicy
and rich seasoning base, generously filled with fresh, chewy abalone,
and velvety soft tofu.
The pleasantly spicy broth coated my mouth perfectly,
making it a total 'rice thief' that I just couldn't stop eating.
It was moderately spicy, yet the rich seafood flavor was
deeply infused, making it a flavor profile that will absolutely hit the spot for those who love a spicy, invigorating kick.
🥩 A match made in heaven with the *ttukbaegi* (earthenware pot),
Sweet and Savory Jeju Black Pork Bulgogi

The Jeju Black Pork Bulgogi, served alongside the soup dishes,
was a truly perfect pairing with the *ttukbaegi*.
The Jeju Black Pork, completely free of any gamey smell,
and its sweet and savory seasoning were simply delicious...!
They also served something that looked like a bone broth, a *sagol* broth perhaps...!
The incredible cleanness! So good ㅜㅜ
❤️ Touched by the kindness
and a place that makes you look forward to the next seasonal menu

Originally, I wanted to try the refreshing *Kongguksu* (cold soybean noodle soup),
but I was told it was a summer menu item and had already been taken off.
The owner
kindly explained, 'Our *Kongguksu* is truly delicious, it's a shame you missed it,'
and I instantly thought I absolutely had to come back to try it!
With friendly service and perfectly crafted food,
this place has it all, so I definitely plan to return in the summer to have that *Kongguksu*!
***ATTENTION***
The *banchan* (side dishes) are delicious!!

💡 Overall Review from My Visit

Seasonal menus like *Kongguksu* (cold soybean noodle soup)
require good timing to enjoy, so keep that in mind!
The warm welcome from the kind owner
and the taste of the thoughtfully prepared broth are just wonderful!!
If you're looking for a hearty breakfast or a comforting meal to soothe your stomach,
you absolutely must visit!
And the *banchan* are the secret weapon (the 'kick').
Perhaps it was the pepper, but the spicy *banchan* were incredibly good!!
Touched by the kindness and captivated by the deep flavor of the homemade *sagol* (ox bone) broth, this is truly a *haejangguk* restaurant near Hyupjae Beach!!
