🐙Hyehwa Jjukkumi Main Branch: A Must-Visit in Daehakro near Hyehwa Station
This spot is highly recommended for those who:
✔︎Are searching for an authentic eatery in Daehakro near Hyehwa Station
✔︎Want to try a famous jjukkumi restaurant featured on TV
✔︎Are looking for a vibrant and delicious date night spot in Daehakro
✔︎Simply love spicy stir-fried baby octopus!

I recently took my mom out for a theater date in Daehakro, and you know what that means: we absolutely had to find something delicious to eat!
After a bit of deliberation, we decided on Hyehwa Jjukkumi Main Branch. I heard it was a famous spot, even featured on the popular TV show "Live Broadcast Today," so it was the perfect choice for our lunch that day.
The Interior
First Floor

Hyehwa Jjukkumi Main Branch offers dining across two floors. The first floor features cozy indoor seating, but what truly caught my eye was the charming terrace area – perfect for enjoying your meal on a beautiful day!
Second Floor

The second floor boasts even more tables than the first, with ample space that's perfect for larger groups. This makes it an ideal spot for a post-theater group dinner or even a company outing.

They even provide baskets to store your personal belongings, which is a thoughtful touch. And since jjukkumi comes with a vibrant red sauce, if you're worried about splattering your white shirt, don't fret! There are plenty of aprons available on each floor, a detail I truly appreciated.
The Menu

After exploring the inviting interior, it was time to dive into the menu! While you can order jjukkumi à la carte, I highly recommend opting for a set menu. These sets are incredibly comprehensive, including jjukkumi with your choice of cheese or steamed egg, plus delicious flying fish roe fried rice!
The sets offer such great value, we knew we'd be leaving satisfied. So, my mom and I went with the Hyehwa Jjukkumi 2-Person Set.

A convenient bonus: you can place your order right from your table, so there's no need to constantly call for a server. It makes for a very relaxed dining experience.
Hyehwa Jjukkumi 2-Person Set

Once we placed our order, the table quickly filled with an array of delicious Korean side dishes, or banchan.

Then, the star of the show arrived: the jjukkumi! When you order a set, you get to choose between cheese or steamed egg. As a complete cheese enthusiast, I naturally went for the cheese option!

The jjukkumi comes pre-cooked, so the staff told us it was ready to eat once the cheese melted. I took a bite, and the rich, savory flavor of the cheese combined with the spicy octopus was absolutely divine!

Just look at how plump and juicy those baby octopuses are! You can enjoy them as is for a perfectly balanced spicy kick.

It was also incredibly tasty wrapped in fresh perilla leaves. What surprised me was how well the cooked garlic paired with it – I usually prefer raw garlic for wraps, but this was a delightful twist! I found myself constantly reaching for more garlic with my jjukkumi wraps.

And, of course, dipping the jjukkumi into the wonderfully stretchy cheese on the side was pure bliss.

Beyond the melted cheese, the hot plate also featured delicious corn cheese, offering another delightful option to enjoy alongside your meal.

Even if you choose cheese for your set, I highly recommend ordering a separate steamed egg (gyeran-jjim). It's perfectly seasoned and creates an incredible flavor harmony with the spicy jjukkumi! ❤️

After savoring most of the jjukkumi, we moved on to the flying fish roe fried rice. The jjukkumi sauce was so incredibly flavorful that it made the fried rice absolutely irresistible. Plus, the portion was generous, leaving us completely satisfied.

It had been a while since my mom and I scraped a plate clean like that! Finishing our meal, it was crystal clear why Hyehwa Jjukkumi is a featured spot on "Live Broadcast Today."
