Happiness Daehangno, a great local spot,

It takes almost the same time from Exit 4,
so you can use either Exit 3 or Exit 4!

It's right by the street and the sign is super clear,
so it wasn't hard to find at all.

Plus, there was a waiting list board at the entrance,
and they even had ice-cold water in a cooler
for people waiting outside!
I loved this thoughtful little touch from the owner.

that authentic Chinese vibe.

Menu

Here is the menu for Happiness Daehangno,
the Chinese gem near Daehangno.
They have great value set menus, a wide variety of dishes,
and plenty of drinks and alcohol to choose from.
From these options, we ordered
the "Chef's Highly Recommended Set."

These are the basic side dishes served first.
You get pickled radish and zha cai (mustard tuber), which pair perfectly with Chinese food!
They are absolute must-haves to eat with black bean noodles. So good!
Chef's Highly Recommended Set - ~$39

As part of the set menu, you can choose between
the Cotton Candy Sweet and Sour Pork (Mokhwa Tangsuyuk) or the Spicy Garlic Pork (Kkanpungyuk).
We went with the Cotton Candy Sweet and Sour Pork.
The portion was huge, and most of all, the batter was so clean
and looked incredibly appetizing.

Even though it came served with the sauce already poured over,
Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with a touch of sweetness from the sauce...
it was absolutely divine.
It even comes with a delicious dipping sauce on the side.
Dipping it in the soy sauce is a serious game-changer!

Next up from our set menu is the Dongpo Pork (braised pork belly).
It's incredibly tender, so they recommend cutting it with your spoon.
First of all, the presentation alone got a perfect score...!
Those thick cuts of pork generously coated in savory sauce
looked utterly mouthwatering.

I cut a bite-sized piece with my spoon, topped it with wasabi
and some bok choy. The meat melted in my mouth, and the kick of wasabi
paired with the crisp crunch of bok choy elevated the flavor
to a whole new level!

And now, the star of the set menu! The Sizzling Hot Plate Jajangmyeon (Medium).
The portion was incredibly generous, and oh my goodness,
the sight of those noodles sizzling away on a scorching hot stone plate was mesmerizing...!
Make sure to give it a good stir with the tongs so it doesn't stick
to the hot plate while you eat.

I scooped some onto my plate and took a bite.
The noodles were perfectly bouncy and the flavor was spot-on—not too salty at all.
Since it's served on a hot plate,
I loved that every single bite stayed piping hot
throughout the entire meal!
To be honest, I was disappointed by a hot plate jajangmyeon I had in Gapyeong before,
but this one...
was absolutely, hands-down DELICIOUS!
If I'm ever back in Hyehwa, I am 100% coming back here.

Once you've finished your meal, just ask the staff for dessert
and they’ll bring out some yogurt. It's sweet and refreshing,
making it the absolute perfect palate cleanser.
A flawless end to a fantastic meal!
