Discover Hanok Village Mulgalbi in Jeonju, serving up tender simmered pork ribs and savory beef pancakes in a cozy, hassle-free setting with parking.

This past weekend, I took a quick road trip to Jeonju, the ultimate foodie capital of South Korea.
Since it is only about a 1-hour drive from Daejeon, Jeonju always feels incredibly accessible.
It is the perfect destination for a spontaneous weekend getaway!

As soon as we arrived, my stomach was set on one thing: Jeonju's famous Mulgalbi (water-simmered pork ribs).
To satisfy the craving, we headed straight to Hanok Village Mulgalbi located in the historic Pungnam-dong neighborhood.
Hanok Village Mulgalbi: Pungnam-dong's Go-To Spot for Savory Stew and Beef Pancakes
1F, 28 Dongmun-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do
Mon-Fri 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM (Break time 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM)
Sat-Sun 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Parking ⭕
: 5 spaces available directly in front of the restaurant, or a 1-minute walk from the Jeonju Hanok Village Public Parking Lot 1 (rear exit)

If you have ever traveled to Jeonju Hanok Village, you know that parking can be an absolute nightmare.
In the past, I have wasted so much time circling narrow alleys looking for a spot,
which always starts the trip on a stressful note.

Fortunately, Hanok Village Mulgalbi completely solves this issue.
They have space for up to 5 cars right in front of the shop,
and the massive public parking lot is just a 1-minute walk away.
We parked with zero hassle!
Being able to park easily right in the heart of Pungnam-dong made the whole experience so much smoother.

We arrived right as the doors opened for lunch.
The entire space was immaculately clean and well-organized,
giving off a very hygienic and welcoming vibe from the start.

If the weather weren't so warm, we would have loved to eat on the outdoor terrace 😍
It is beautifully set up and would make a fantastic date spot.
I am definitely coming back to sit on the terrace during spring or autumn!

We ordered the 2-person Galbi Hot Pot Set, which includes beef pancakes (Yukjeon).
Each portion is generous, featuring about 8.8 oz of hot pot stew and 4.2 oz of pan-fried beef pancakes.

Jeolla Province is legendary for its culinary heritage, and the side dishes (banchan) here proved why.
Every single dish was neatly presented and delicious,
with balanced seasoning that perfectly complemented the main courses.

The service was incredibly fast too! 😋
The Mulgalbi hot pot was set up first, and the freshly cooked beef pancakes arrived shortly after.
Even though we only ordered for two, we received four massive, palm-sized pieces of beef pancake!

The beef pancakes were thick, tender, and incredibly juicy.
They were lightly marinated in a sweet soy glaze,
making them delicious on their own without needing any extra dipping sauce—kids would absolutely love this flavor.

Pairing them with the pickled vegetables or the seasoned chive salad elevates the taste to another level.
I highly recommend upgrading to the set that includes the beef pancakes! 👍

After simmering the hot pot for about 8 minutes,
we started by eating the glass noodles and crunchy bean sprouts.
Even this first bite was packed with rich flavor, hinting at how good the stew would become!

The broth is savory and mild, without being overly spicy or heavy.
It is a crowd-pleasing flavor profile that anyone can enjoy.

The pork ribs are served on the bone, proving their high quality.
The meat was incredibly tender and had no gamey odor,
making it perfect to wrap in fresh lettuce with garlic and ssamjang.

As the restaurant's guide suggests,
this dish gets significantly better the longer you let it simmer.
So, take your time and let the flavors deepen as you eat!
The broth became richer and more concentrated with every passing minute. Absolutely delicious!

The portions were so massive that we couldn't even finish our rice,
which meant we had to skip the legendary fried rice finish—a decision I still regret!
Since the sauce is so flavorful, make sure you save room to try the fried rice at the end.

Overall, the food at Hanok Village Mulgalbi is not overly salty, spicy, or intense.
Instead, it offers a beautifully balanced, slightly sweet flavor that appeals to everyone.
It is the kind of satisfying meal that leaves you feeling comfortably full, not bloated.

With its clean atmosphere and neatly presented food,
it is a wonderful spot for a date, a family gathering,
or anyone traveling with kids and seniors.

📍 Hanok Village Mulgalbi (한옥마을물갈비)
1F, 28 Dongmun-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do
You can park up to 5 cars in front of the restaurant. Additionally, the back gate of Jeonju Hanok Village Public Parking Lot 1 is just a 1-minute walk away, making it easy to find parking.
The restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on both weekdays and weekends. However, there is a break time from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on weekdays (Monday to Friday).
Based on a single serving, it includes 250g of Mulgalbi Jeongol (water rib hot pot) and 120g of Yukjeon (pan-fried battered beef). If you order for two, it comes with 4 thick pieces of Yukjeon, each about the size of a palm.
We recommend eating the bean sprouts and glass noodles first after the hot pot has boiled for about 8 minutes. The longer it boils, the deeper the flavor of the seasoning becomes, so it is best to enjoy it while letting it simmer slowly.
