To spend some unique time in Hannam-dong (한남동),
I visited the Hyundai Card Art Library (현대카드 아트 라이브러리).
The Music Library (뮤직 라이브러리), Art Library (아트 라이브러리), and Vinyl & Plastic (바이닐앤플라스틱) are all gathered in one place,
making it great to explore them all together!

Today, following the Music Library,
I'll introduce the places I actually visited,
from Vinyl & Plastic to the Hyundai Card Art Library.
I'll share the atmosphere of each space and how to use them.
1st Floor: Vinyl & Plastic

First, I explored the 1st Floor Vinyl & Plastic.
It's a record shop displaying a wide variety of LP albums and music-related content.
This is a space where anyone can browse and enjoy, even if you're not a Hyundai Card (현대카드) member or a DIVE app (DIVE 앱) member.

With LPs neatly stacked and displayed,
anyone who loves music will enjoy looking through them one by one.

The best service at Vinyl & Plastic is
the Vinyl 200 Picks (바이닐 200 픽스) service, where you can listen to LP records directly on a turntable.
You can personally audition records for up to 30 minutes.

If you visit on a weekday, you can spend time listening to your desired records at a relatively relaxed pace.

In addition,
there were also goods from Hyundai Card's cultural fusion event, Davinci Motel (다빈치 모텔),

and Hyundai Card branding merchandise on display.
Notably, these alphabet stickers, embodying Hyundai Card's identity, were available to take for free.
2nd Floor: Hyundai Card Art Library

After exploring Vinyl & Plastic,
you can check in at the Art Library reception and then head up to the 2nd floor.
The great thing about this place is that
you don't even need to move to a different location
to immediately enjoy a completely different kind of cultural experience!

The Hyundai Card Art Library requires visitors to
authenticate as a Hyundai Card member or DIVE app member,
receive a pass card,
store their belongings in a locker, and then enter.
Hyundai Card members can enter with themselves and two accompanying guests,
while Hyundai Card DIVE app members can enter as individuals.
(Total of 8 entries per month across all libraries)
* To ensure a pleasant reading experience, simultaneous entry is limited to 35 people.

Operating hours are
Occasionally, they might be closed for internal events, so make sure to check Naver Maps before your visit!
Parking isn't available, so you'll need to use a public parking lot.

If the first floor felt like seeing and hearing music,
the second floor transforms into an atmosphere where you can slowly experience books and the space.

Once you go up to the second floor, the atmosphere becomes much more tranquil.
Hyundai Card Art Library (현대카드 아트 라이브러리) is a bit different from a typical library.
You can find a wide range of books focusing on art and design,
and discover art books that are typically hard to come by
in regular bookstores or libraries.

As you browse through the books on the shelves,
you'll naturally find your attention drawn to subjects you might not have considered before.

The seven criteria for selecting books at Hyundai Card Art Library were also fascinating.
1.INSPIRING
2.VISIONARY
3.AESTHETIC
4.ENGAGING
5.NOTEWORTHY
6.INSIGHTFUL
7.TIMELESS

Book Curation Criteria

You can find art-related books spanning diverse fields like fine art, design, photography, architecture, fashion,
and many other creative areas.
There's definitely a different feeling between just looking up images of artworks online
and actually opening up a physical art book and experiencing it.

Rather than having a specific book in mind to read,
I spent my time browsing through catalogs of artists I admire
or simply exploring books that caught my eye,
and I actually preferred that kind of leisurely pace.

However, since it's connected to Vinyl & Plastic (바이닐앤플라스틱) on the first floor,
it wasn't an intensely quiet atmosphere.
The music flowing from the first floor served as a background, creating a cafe-like vibe!

And the space itself is incredibly beautiful, perfectly matching the Art Library concept,
just looking around makes you feel inspired!

Among the special spaces you can only find at the Art Library
is the Moving Image Room (무빙 이미지 룸) located further inside,

Here, you can enjoy a curated collection of early 1960s-70s media & performance art
that expanded the realm of contemporary art, all on monitors with headphones!

In addition to a complete collection of various art magazines that are typically hard to access,

I also recommend checking out the unique art books self-published by artists!

It's a book(?) made by Damien Hirst, and words are written on egg-shaped objects!

The Hyundai Card Art Library (현대카드 아트 라이브러리)
felt less like a tourist spot where you rush through things,
and more like a place to linger and savor.
It's a great place to visit alone and read a book,
and simply exploring the space and art books
would be a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Best of all, I loved that you could explore Vinyl & Plastic (바이닐앤플라스틱) and the Art Library together.
1st floor Vinyl & Plastic → 2nd floor Hyundai Card Art Library
I recommend exploring in this order.
It's a great itinerary to casually browse music and LPs,
then spend time reading books in a more tranquil atmosphere!
If you're looking for a slightly different cultural space or a unique date spot
in Hannam-dong (한남동) beyond the usual cafes and shopping, I highly recommend it.
